  • Thank you all, that cooking light spot was really helpful. I don't eat a lot of canned veggies, but they are much more convenient at work where I am always alone and I don't close for lunch. My sister in law suggested the rinse and I was hopeful. I don't intend to ajdust my log, but it is comforting knowing I am at least…
  • As a general rule (for me) I log it all. At this point I am concerned with getting a look at what I am doing and what I need to do, so everything gets logged. That said I don't think I will ever stop logging it because for me the biggest challenge is to stick with it and inconsistency is not in my favor.
  • Adding you, can never have too much motivation or support!!
  • OMG they PAINT those abs on....I'm so...discombobulated! Are my heartthrobs really just fakes??? ...Walks away swooning...
  • Do you sing? You're a singer, Have you written something? You're a writer! Don't sell yourself short. Not being a professional and/or famous does not mean you are a wanna be! I have been singing for 35 years. I'm a fantastic singer (told this all the time) the places I sing are church and with my girls at school shows and…
  • I agree that your inspiration, the reason you want to do this, has to come from within, but motivation, that is meant to be shared! Encouragement and kudos for achievements can be great motivators. I have "met" so many supportive people on here. I have been able to give help as well, it is a great feeling! I started on my…
  • Crickets chirping, my daughter has 30 in a cage in my house for a science project. The Degus fighting over the dust bath and the new piece of apple wood I gave them, the ceiling fan my daughter insists needs to be on because 77 degrees is too hot...(Our thermostat got stuck this afternoon... it is just now 77 after hitting…
  • I looked up several pizza entries under Daiya cheese in the data base and the average is around 375 calories for 1/3 pizza. Since you had 5 of 8 slices I would count it as 2/3 just to be sure not to under guesstimate...i'd log it as 750 calories.
  • Okay found one, The Notebook. Never saw it, never wanted to.
  • I don't think there's one movie on this thread I haven't seen...guess I used to be quite the couch potato...
  • Snazzler, I have read all of the posts in this thread and without a doubt you have been given some great advice. trogalicious' blow by blow is spot on and you need to do as he says if you want things to change. When I started on MFP I weighed 183 lbs. I plugged all my info into the generator and was given a 1435 cal goal.…
  • Congratulations, great Job! You look Fantastic! It's nice to see all that you have accomplished, very inspirational. Also appreciate the fact that you gave a shout out to your MFP peeps. I know I couldn't be doing this without them. I am more motivated than ever to get to my success day! Thanks for sharing.

  • Most packaged items list the grams right in the serving size such as (potato chips) 28g about 15 chips... so gram amounts are pretty much readily available. For other things you will have to find the entry in the listing that shows grams. Bananas for example usually say calories per ounce in the food database but you can…
  • Lots of GOOD advice here. The most important thing is to realize that it is okay. Burn some extra cals today and be careful with your other meals. Sounds like you really enjoyed the donuts. Don't let guilt take that away.
  • 1. I decided to actually do all the things I knew how to do and should be doing...eating small meals, drinking water... 2. There hasn't really been a "hard" thing for me but I am not making time to exercise and that will have to change. 3. 183.6 lbs. July 1, 2013 4. 151.4 lbs. January 12, 2014. 5. The day I learned I was…
  • Because my Mom has cancer and lost her hair so I purposely lost mine (My husband shaved it) in support of her. I had to keep the tail for two reasons. To remember how long it was. And because I had one in HS so I thought it might make me feel young again....Nah didn't work >(
  • Exercise is accumulative. Get in what you can when you can and it will add up. I agree with the stroller when the weather warms walking with the babe is great exercise and super enjoyable. Work your way up slow and steady until you are comfortable with what you are doing for yourself. And remember all you do for the baby…
  • IF it works don't fix it. 1200 is a safe range for not damaging your metabolism. You don't want to go consistently below 1200. That said 1150ish may actually be closer to 1200 if you are eating prepared foods, as slight variances in ingredients or the weight of what you actually consume may add a little here and there. I…
  • Water BEFORE YOU eat 8oz minimum, cut the portions in half BEFORE you eat, put it away (take out box, etc.) If you are doing the meal plan eat at pick-your-own (cafeteria) style restaurants rather than full buffet or seated eating. If you go buffet use the salad plate (smaller I hope) for your heavy cal foods. also if you…
  • Bumpity, Bump BUmp BUMP!
  • I expect to have to be aware of what I eat for the rest of my life. Whether or not it will require meticulous counting, weighing and measuring remains to be seen. But if that is what it will take then yes. I will doso forever. I cannot and will not go backwards. I am not dieting, I am making a lifestyle change. I figure by…
  • Welcome to MFP! I'll be here for you. I am currently being screened for diabetes myself and this is after having lost 32 lbs. since July 1st of this year. I am officially overweight now, obesity is behind me! I can sure use another mutual support partner in this journey. FR sent! CW
  • I don't work in the food industry but I have majorly supported the fast food industry in our little town for YEARS! I used to work for McDonalds and I can attest to the employee meal syndrome! That said, you have already decided not to live on your wares so step one DONE! IF you are honest and dedicated, you CAN do this.…
  • Guess I need to clarify. I was not worried about the weight "gain" but thank you for the quick response. My question is whether or not I need to eat closer to 1400 Net calories instead of the 1200 I have been sticking to.
  • First of all, Congratulations on a great start. That kick start loss will be a good encouragement for you . I know it was for me. now I would like to share this with you. I think the point people are trying to make is that 1 week is not consistency. I lost 4.3 lbs. my first week on 1450 calories. Because... my body was not…
