  • It is helpful to have a body composition test done. Find out your percent body fat, Muscle Mass, bone mass, and hydration. This will give you an exact BMI and more importantly BMR which determines the appropriate calorie intake. The gym I go to has a Tanita scale but you can find relatively inexpensive body metric scales…
  • London, Ontario here!! Hello to my fellow Canadians!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Movie Popcorn with BUTTER! It's been so long since I went to the movies and enjoyed a bag of corn. I seriously think that will be my last thought as I take my last breath..."I should have just had the popcorn and really enjoyed myself". Ha Ha Ha
  • Looking for friends. I'm Canadian, active on here daily, making serious progress...deadlift is up to 210 and for some crazy reason I absolutely love going to the gym, hahaha. I think the TSN turning point has been realizing this is a permanent journey and I've embraced it! Please Add Me! B)
  • Feel free to add me too. I've been here off and on for years. It's the best thing to keep motivated. Logging helps me stay accountable. I still have 70lbs to lose.
  • Just found this thread, thanks for making it. I made a free printable calendar on April 1 and I give myself a bright pink X through each day I didn't snack after dinner -- that's my true nemesis. I can proudly post ME: 17 LNS:0 Non Scale WIN -- STREEEEEEEAK
  • Food fuels the future...it doesn't fuel the present. A lot has to happen to the food for it be usable as fuel. It needs to be broken down and then sent to each cell in your body. This takes time, think of eating today helps you fuel tomorrow. You need to eat your full allotment of calories rich in vitamins and minerals,…
  • Thank you for asking this question. I have been wondering it too and the responses are super helpful. I have a personal trainer and I am working on the Burn rotation now, I'll be heading into Strength soon. My trainer has said, where lifting is concerned being over weight is an asset and we should maximize it. I look at it…
  • I've been using MFP for years. My favorite thing is the bar code reader! You can bleep and put a meal together in no time. You can add me as a friend.
  • Don't get frustrated! Get motivated, set a new goal. Set a goal that is attainable. Preferably a goal that is not weight related. I have been at this for 7 months the scale says I've only lost 14lbs but I have had to buy new pants and I can work out with the best of them at the gym so I'm focusing on non scale victories…
  • I have a gym membership. My goal when I got it was to have fun and promise after every visit to come back one more time. That's 7 months ago. Starting weight 253 current weight 239 goal weight 145. I go to the gym 3 or 4 times a week and the other days I walk as quickly as I can for one hour in the park near my house.…
  • I'm Thinnyminime from Canada. I agree with Jeremy from NY...I try to just focus on TODAY...I figure tomorrow will take of itself. Today I'm headed to the gym to see my trainer...wish me luck! My motivational tip for you is, go to youtube and watch one motivational speech video. Those things could make me walk on fire!
  • Pork chop, wax beans and corn that we picked!
  • Work out hard and save those calories...then make good choices...there will be fish, try choosing things that are not swimming in sauce...sauce is what gets you! Always remember too that no matter what you eat it will have more salt than food you prepare at home so drink lots of water. I also don't weigh myself the next…
  • THE CROCHET CROWD!!! http://thecrochetcrowd.com/ It is the best. I live in Ontario so I have met Mickey. He is fabulous and he keeps all his stuff FREE!!!
  • I was having the same problem. I have discovered that my sleep is terrible if I eat later in the evening so "topping up the tank" to get my calories in at the end of the day is out of the question. So here is what I did. I added healthy calories to each meal. For instance I added 1oz of cheese to my sandwich at lunch. 50g…
  • Thank you for your reply...this is a Galaxy S II...not looking good for me...but at least I have it working with my PC
  • Sandwiches with tuna and light mayo sliced pickle and lettuce, low sodium/nitrite free deli meat with mustard and baby spinach. Salads with tomato and feta, watermelon and sunflower seeds. Good healthy cereals with low fat milk. Yogurt with fruit like strawberries cut up in it. I like Quaker products like the crispy minis,…
  • Joined MFP in April to "change my lifestyle". Success!!! I have lost 15 pounds by logging my food and walking! I also play Just Dance on the Wii and occasionally go swimming but the majority of my burn comes from walking. It is so nice to know that I can enjoy the outdoors and burn calories too.
  • The barcode reader is particularly good when you are creating a recipe or a meal that you will use over and over. For instance I have bleeped all my ingredients...flour, sugar, eggs etc and now I have them stored so it's easy to pull a recipe together.
  • I am a stay at home Mother as well. I put my self down as sedentary because when I am not cooking and cleaning I am at my computer or sitting down reading, crocheting or watching the t.v. I have found that the exercise data base has cooking cleaning and gardening so I clock my time and add it to my day. I go for walks for…
  • Great Job...you have changed your lifestyle! That's the biggest deal of all...you win!!!!!! :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
  • You are not allowed to have the rice krispy treats but you are allowed to have a bowl of rice krispies...hmmm...now that's a lifestyle change! I do hope your tummy feels better. Withdrawal takes a lot longer than you think. Drink lots of water and give it more time.
  • This will be my first challenge...I'll give it a shot!
  • Pesto and tapenade make great sauces when added to olive oil or cream...allergies are an adventure...I don't know how many times people have said "I never would have thought of that combination" I just say "well the alternative is a quick ride to the morgue".
  • Been there!!! Reduce your sodium intake. Track it on here and don't go over. Drink lots of water. When you are resting or sitting find a way to have your legs elevated. When you sleep at night have your legs up on two pillows. It will take a few days to really get rid of the water but it will go. If you want to really jump…
  • Hi Newbie...I've been logging for 36 days...it is officially the longest I've every dieted. I owe it all to this site!!! I am so motivated and the only reason I can think is because this site makes it fun. I have lost 9 pounds and I eat all the foods I like. I weigh my portions and try to exercise as much as I can and…
