On Monday, it was howling wind and pouring rain. It was cold and dark. I was supposed to go to yoga class for 5:30. I did not make it. I did not want to go out out in the nasty weather. It is often the weather that prevents me from going to class. Often, it is not necessarily the situation outside, but mentally I am warm…

I do hot yoga. I just got into it seriously in October. I track it on Map My Fitness. It gives me a burn of around 2200 for the 90 minute class. I doubt I am burning that. I do not eat back my calories, so I eat about 1200 calories a day.

If you are scared of the scale, do not weigh yourself this week. Maybe weigh yourself once a month. If you have someone available, weigh yourself, but do not look at the number. Have someone else record the number. Maybe instead of weighing, you can take you measurements once a month.

I have bad knees. I cannot do jumping jacks. Is there something else I can do? I am on the Jenny Craig diet plan. I do my own breakfast but lunch, dinner, and 2 snacks are with Jenny Craig food. It is processed frozen/packaged food. I cannot do the no processed food on this plan. Same with no processed sugar.

I think MFP over estimates the calorie burn of exercise. You can check on other exercise sites to check the calorie burn.

Weigh and record everything, including water and other fluids. On MFP, if you cheat or avoid recording, the only person you are hurting is yourself. Start meal planning, maybe only 1 meal a week.

I am one of the people who do not eat my calories back.

Maybe try microfibre towels. They do a pretty good job of drying you off, but are not as bulky as regular towels. They do feel a bit funny, strange. Also, do not dry your towels with dryer sheets or fabric softener. That reduces the towel's absorbency. Anyway, I take 2 big microfibre towels and a hand towel, a combined…

Minimum needed is your age. Maximum heart rates depend on a formula with your age in it.

I am on 2 anti-depression medicines for clinical depression: Wellbutin and cyprelex. I gained weight after being put on them, but, since I had basically stopped eating, this was due to eating again. I was eating a lot of carbs and sugars as a way of self-medicating myself with a sugar high. It took around 2 years to…

No goal date. I do not want to put pressure on myself to reach my goal by a certain date. I want to be happy with myself and my week if I stay the same or lose 2 pounds. I do not give myself mini goals either, for the same reason. I am doing 2 challenges. One is for weight loss and one is for exercise. For me, the exercise…

I track everything, including when and how much water, tea etc. I also track my vitamins, for my micros. Get a scale and weigh what you are eating. As others have said, use MFP to figure out your calories. If after 3 months of weighing your food accurately, you feel you are not meeting your weight loss goal, adjust down.…

I have joined. I already belong to The Biggest Loser Challenge and the Allegiant challenge, so I am already doing weight loss and fitness challenges.

You really need to watch the sugar and carbs in protein bars. Some of them have more sugar and calories than chocolate bars.

Motivation gets you started, habit keeps you going. Jillian Michaels Set up a regular time to do the exercise. See if you can find a buddy to go with you. Maybe there is someone at the gym who is also struggling with exercising regularly. If you get together, you can motivate each other to get there

I go the other way. When I am depressed I stop eating and lose a ton of weight. For 6 months I was off work. All I did was lie in bed and not move. The only thing that got me out of bed was my pets. They were fed, water changed, litter box changed and dogs put out in the yard. I cried all through doing this, but I did do…

From my DOCTOR! You really don't have all that much to lose. I needed to lose about 100 pounds at the time.

Go for a walk. Brush your teeth. Wait 10 minutes. Take up a hobby. Vacuum. Look at your calories for the day. Do you really want to go over and either stay the same or go up? Read a book. Do a set of sit-ups, planks, jumping jacks, stretches.

Oh, another one, if you want to be rude, "Who made you the food police?"
-
You can also tell them that the food has been planned in your calorie allowance for the day.

I was on the weight watchers on-line program for 1 month. Not being an American, there were a lot of Canadian foods and brands missing. There was Weight Watcher's brand food missing. The process for adding a food seemed difficult. I quickly went back to MFP.

I tell them that I use MFP to count calories and exercise more. If they roll their eyes, or whatever, I tell them that it works and say that I guess you really don't want to lose weight. That usually shuts them up.

When I had periods, it used to be 10 pounds over 2 days. Day 1 I would add about 5 pounds of water. Day 2 I would go up another 5 pounds. Day 3 my period would start and I would spend a lot of time in the bathroom, peeing. I hated it because I felt so bloated, my breasts were huge and my feet and ankles were swollen. Since…

Motivation gets you started, habit keeps you going. Jillian Michaels. It will hurt. It will take time. It will require willpower. You will need to make healthy decisions. It requires sacrifice. You will need to push your body to its max. There will be temptations. But, I promise you, when you reach your goal, it's worth…

I can see your friend becoming bulimic, if she continues with this behaviour. She needs professional help.

And apples, pears, toast, cereal, chicken, fish, peas, potatoes, and anything else my dog will eat, which is a lot.

It is just a number on a scale. I won't do anything different that day than any other day. By then, I will have a fit, toned body from Bikram(hot) yoga, Curves and walking. I think I will celebrate if/when I can do a 5k run. Right now, I have bad knees and cannot do a 5k walk.

What sort of gym is it? Do they have trainers? If they do, having one session with a trainer to get a stretch routine would be worth it. If they don't have trainers, is there a local public rec centre near you? They may have trainers who could show you stretches. Finally, look for some yoga stretches on the web. I searched…
