Thanks for all the ideas and advice. A lot to think about. I'm hoping this will work for me, as serving/portion size of foods was never my problem. My problem was a 44 oz soda in the morning and another 20 oz soda (or two) in the afternoon. Plus having 2-3 peices of pizza, not just 1, and too much fast food. And having a…

Congratulations! I started the transition to maintenance last week. I went from a 250 calorie deficit to a 100 calorie deficit. So far it's keeping me from worrying that I'll put any weight back on since I'm still at a small deficit. I'm planning to stay at this level for a couple months, and see what my weight does. Then…

I really love my Fitbit One and find it extremely accurate. Fitbit is great!

I gain weight in my middle - belly and love handles. I'm 4'11"

I keep a couple shakes at work so that if it is a choice between eating nothing or having a shake I at least get some level of nutrition/fiber/protein in me. But I agree with those that reccomend real food over a shake. I think shakes are great as a once-in-a-while-desperate-times-call-for-desperate-measures help, but not…

THIS!!! Love my FitBit!!!!

There are free apps that are the same as Weight Watchers. I used Value Diary for a while before coming to MFP. I really liked it and did lose weight. And I loved that it is free - unlike WW.
-
This certainly isn't the experience of everyone on WW. I know several people, who have successfully lost weight and then maintained for years. None has stated they are miserable. What I do appreciate about WW is that it's not about deprivation, but everything is allowed in moderation, which is more than one can say about…

[/quote] 2100 - 3500 calories a day... I'm jealous.... Very, Very Jealous...
-
Yes, it really does... :grumble:
-
Since I'm only 4'11" I only get 1200 calories a day. Breakfast: 250 Lunch: 400 Dinner: 400 Snacks, or as needed for lunch/dinner: 150

Congratulations, Jenna! :-) Well done!

LOL! Love this! Yes, the wonderful excuses.... :-)

Agreed!

I'm 4'11". My Goal Weight is 105.

I picked the weight I was while on active duty as a Marine as my goal weight. I was healthy, and happy with how I looked, at that point in my life.
-
Good luck! Hope this change works well for you!

Great site! But I notice there are four different Research Models. Each one gives me different numbers - and they range from BMR 1396 to 1134. Any thoughts on which Model is most accurate, or is it best to do an average of the four???

Pictures of me when I was an active duty Marine. I was healthy, and at my goal weight. And I (mostly) enjoyed my time in the Marines.

Good to know! The advice I got was to use the Sedentary, then count any exercise done, and eat back maybe half of the exercise points; but that if you set it as Active then it's already 'counting' those exercise points as part of your dailey allowance, so you don't count them when you do exercise - or you'd be counting…

Good point about thinking about things differently. I do love my FitBit!!! But when I put it at a calorie deficit it will lett me go below 1200, and I know that's not really healthy....
-
Great advice. Thank you!
-
Thanks, JWooley. That really helps! FitBit calculated my BMR at 1,145 calories/day. I REALLY REALLY hate exercising... HATE IT! And I saw all those posts about how if you keep your calories at a deficit you can lose weight without exercising... Guess not for me... My TDEE is calculated at about 1525. But to maintain weight…

I'm 4'11". At my heaviest I was 132 lbs. My own father was responsible for the rudest thing ever said about my weight. I went for a visit. I walk in the door, and the first thing he sais (literally, first thing - not 'hello' or anything) was "So 200 pounds?" "Daddy!" "Oh, only 175?" "DAD!" And let me add, he has been…

Not sure about the day with 0 steps... that is strange. But with the two below I might have an idea. 04/17/14 Steps: 2,071 Calories burned: 2,040 04/16/14 Steps: 5,708 Calories burned: 1,885 It's not just the number of steps, but the speed. Say you ran 1,000 steps really fast. That might burn more calories than slowly…
