glad to see this thread! i'm trying to take up cycling too. i sometimes bike to work but have to walk the hills. i'd love to be able to ride the entire way. is stationary bike riding any use? spin classes? or is outdoors really the only way to go?

I started taking lexapro in January 2014. I usually yo-yo some so its hard to separate what is related to the lexapro and what is just "natural" fluctuation for me BUT i have found i've lost a lot of motivation to exercise. I think this is because exercise (Especially running) was an outlet for me. Being active stopped me…

ok - this conversation has kind of derailed - like my dedication to not binging on sweets, etc. i'd love for her to be on board but my main motivation on this post was to keep myself on track. When i have the health/workout buddy on a regular basis, i guess start to rely on that. And then when they slip i do. Do I just…

Just to clarify - by girlfriend i mean romantic life partner type girlfriend. That's why my goals of having a healthy, happy, active life where both of us can be healthy and around for each other and our future children is important. yes, it would be different if she were a friend.
-
Real reasons: 1.) being able to be more active at an older age - for ourselves and for future children 2.) avoiding health problems that are common in both our families - heart problems, diabetes, etc. and i want to share both of those with her.

Good tip. I do try. But it only lasts so long. I'm going to try harder. Last time I kept counting calories for two days while she was completely off the reigns - we were on vacation but I was trying to stay on track bc i know how hard it is for me to get back on track when i derail. On day 3 I caved.

interesting. i was just thinking about this. how i can "run" for 17 minutes indoors but the idea of doing it outside scares me. and i remember seeing someone post that they were at week 7 of the C25k indoors, but only week 2 outside

Pigeon is one of my favorite poses. I may just need to make a habit of getting sauna time and a yoga class before each run :)
-
Added on some stretches and did them after my workout for the first time yesterday too. I know I should have been all along but I wasn't. Also, i did a few stretches in the sauna before hand - i think that definitely helped loosen my muscles up :)

wow, thanks for the feedback guys! looks like ill definitely be adding in some more stretches, seeing if things improve and then taking it from there. running seems so natural for people that its weird to me that we have to be so careful about form, stretching, etc.

well i did have someone at Pacers watch me run and tell me what kind of shoes to get. so hopefully they're right

my stretching routine could definitely improve. Write now i do: Calf Stretches - the lunge type (http://www.strengthtrainingblog.com/images/calf-stretch-stiff-leg-muscles.gif) and a reaching to the sky type where my arms are up and i raise and lower myself - 10 reps a real deep forward bend foot grab…

This is great to hear! I'm doing the C25K - am supposed to "jog" 9 minutes straight today. My "jog" started at a 4.5mph, then i was doing around a 5-5.2. But this last week stuck to the 4.5mph again - i know i couldn't sustain a 5.2 for 7-9 minutes :-P but its good hearing that the place to pick up speed is afterwards.

Yeah I'd definitely say that there are underlying things you need to crack into or you won't ever move forward. Either an individual therapist or some sort of women's group - therapists can usually recommend those. There's lots of us out there with issues like that holding us back - its a huge step that you're even…
