Part of my problem is I'm also trying for fat loss and faster means more calories. I'm fighting a battle in my head and losing lol

Only for the winter (I live in Canada and it has been -40c with the wind almost all week) once spring comes I'm hitting the walking paths

I competed in a 5k on Saturday and did HORRIBLE (my treadmill incline doesn't work and it has been a long time since I ran outside) but I am in training to participate in a half marathon next fall. I did it 2 years ago and I liked it but I didn't train properly so I wasn't last but it took me a very long time to finish and…

I just decided to go for it at my normal 5mph treadmill pace and told myself do what you can and slow down if you have to and the app knows me better than myself because I was able to do the whole thing at 5mph without falling over or dying! Week 5 day 3 OVER!!

So many responses!! Thank you all for taking the time! I just decided to go for it at my normal 5mph treadmill pace and told myself do what you can and slow down if you have to and the app knows me better than myself because I was able to do the whole thing at 5mph without falling over or dying! On rest days I do weight…

Rusgolden thanks. I'll try those stretches out tonight

I don't claim to know everything but I for some reason think that it would defeat the purpose to slow the pace down for 20 minutes and then the following week speed it up again for intervals. If I didn't have the problem with my legs (calf and shin) I may not be so concerned about running 20 minutes. I'll keep you all…

Bcalvanese thanks for your response. I'm subconsciously and a little consciously concerned with running faster. My boyfriend is better at it than me (and in far better shape) I thought this app would be a way for me to get better without hurting myself and without me giving up on running a minute or two before I should…
-
Thanks jennypapaje. I'll try that
-
Seems like slowing down is the answer. Thanks

Running is hard for me. It never used to be but now I have problems with my calves being tight and causing shin pain. I'm slowly starting C25K again (with compression socks and jogging at 5mph) and now I'm afraid. I just finished week 5 day 2 yesterday and tomorrow I have week 5 day 3 and it went from intervals of walking…

Thanks for your reponse. I didn't even know that thread existed! I'm hoping to take part in my second half marathon next year and I'm using the app as motivation... so I don't stop jogging too early and set myself up to fail
-
Thank you. I figured as much but can't blame a girl for hoping lol
-
Update: it lasted through a slip and slide, mud bath, clean water rinse/shower then through 3 small slide pools AND 4 trips down a giant inflatable slide into a pool of water. Still ticking!!

Hmmm ok!

My food isn't tracking from MFP to my Up, why is that? It did yesterday
-
I know, still depressing lol This app is really helping my bf realize how much we eat. He's active at his job and doesn't eat all day so for him it doesn't matter as much.
-
I have everything connected everywhere lol I have just disconnected MMF from MFP and it only goes through Up. It's more depressing in MFP now because my walk calories are half of what MMF said they were lol
-
I ended up getting the Jawbone up24 because I would rather spend $55 and not like it than $120. I have only used it for one full day but I notice I don't swing my arm much because I always carry stuff with it. I may only use it for a week, see what kind of numbers I get between daily work days, days I walk to and from…

Everyone seems to like and want FitBits, this is a tough decision...... unless I just don't get anything lol
-
Psychgrrl: I considered the chest strap HRM but I would probably always forget to put it on before my runs/walks.
-
I am currently adding Ideal Protein foods to my daily routine, almost everything I eat actually but I won't follow the plan of 800 calories a day and no exercise
-
I had MFP set for 1700 calories, I ate 1300, worked out for approx 200 calories (depending on accuracy of Map My Walk) meaning I was at 1200 calories net. My calories in vary between 1300 and 1700 and my calories burned vary between "200" and "700"
-
I thought I was able to figure it out myself but I can't. My TDEE says it's 1900ish so I eat 1700 and depending on how much I work out I will either eat some back or leave it and I don't lose weight or inches (but I am constantly hungry!!)
-
I always have my phone on me as well so displays do me no good and when I'm running I don't ever check my progress. I'm not overly concerned with step count, just calories burned overall.
-
You mean the FitBit flex?
-
Well, I have only had a few people comment but seeing them for $50 makes me feel like I should just go for it!
-
Noted lol it says it's water resistant so does that mean you can shower with it or is it more, you're running in the rain briefly but it will be OK?
-
I have never used groupon before lol do you love your Jawbone UP24? I was actually looking into the original UP (that was what was presented to me on the online garage sale app) but still, UP24 on BestBuy.ca is only $50 CAD, no groupon required
-
BestBuy.ca has the Jawbone Up for $30 CAD, and it's claiming it's the activity tracker, am I crazy or does that seem to cheap??
