The Gait Guys is great. Gets pretty technical though.

If the weather is clear try the observation deck at the top of the Prudential Center. Museum of Science. New England Sports Museum in the TD Garden.

I have a Forerunner 220 and for the footpod to work correctly indoors I must manually turn off the GPS function. The watch defaults to GPS on.

Not only is there the tangents issue, but a certified course also has a 0.1% distance factor added in along the way.

Race Report: Maine Marathon, 10/2/2016 I went into the race generally feeling good, but with the usual nagging mental concerns. Did you train enough? Do enough speedwork? Are you nuts…four years ago you couldn’t run a 5K at the pace you expect to run this! A few physical ones…lower back sore on-and-off (mostly off since…

It comes with time. I've lost about 65 lbs and have kept it off for over two years. But I still do a double-take when I walk by a mirror or a store window because in my head I'm still the fat guy. Nice work.

I'll be the contrarian...I run in Vibram 5Fingers 90% of the time. The rest is divided between Merrill Trail Gloves and Merrill Vapor Gloves. They work for me...may not for everyone. I suggest finding characteristics that work for you (heel drop, width, stack height, weight, last shape, etc.) and stick with them. You may…

It's a lot of fun. Can participate in some cool events and pay it forward.

I am a half-marathon pacer for Beast Pacing beastpacing.com. I certainly agree with the above. Don't forget to account for not being able to run all the tangents. For example, I generally pace at 2:00. That's 9:09/mile. But I run 9:03-05 knowing we will often end up running 13.2-13.3 miles in total. Works every time. :)…

Dress appropriately for the weather and don't even worry about it. As another poster said, most people are so wrapped up doing their own thing they won't even notice. We all started somewhere. :D

5K Our Way to Puerto Rico... 3rd overall, 1st male 50+. Small race, 36 finishers. About a mile of single-track trail, wasn't expecting that.

This. I have the same issue. Used to be hot all the time...now cold cold cold. Had my PCP check thyroid function...all normal.

FWIW... I have sleep apnea and use a CPAP machine. I can track more details of my sleep than I ever knew existed. It's amazing how much sleep quality affects training, performance, and weight loss. MobyCarp nailed it.

Lifting twice a week for 90 minutes each time (give or take), yoga twice per week. Seems to work for me.

This... I use a Black Diamond Sprinter headlamp...recharge by USB cable instead of worrying about carrying spare batteries. Depth perception is tough...be careful where you step. I started the day with a big breakfast, smaller lunch, and light supper. Run started at 11:40pm. Worked out well.…

Don't worry about what anyone else does or says. It sounds like they are working for you. Stick with what works. Increase your mileage gradually and pay attention to your body.
