  • You get your heart rate up and you sweat but you don't feel like you're working? You are. I love ellipticals. My knees give me pain too so I use ellipticals. I don't believe the readings it gives regarding calories burned but I just round those way down. Now, for weight/fat loss: You can't out-exercise a bad diet. You can…
  • Over and over and over and over...
  • I scan everything I can and then get as close as I can. Not perfect, I know, but at least it's something. And enjoy those homemade meals!
  • Kick some hynie!
  • You log only some of what you eat and then export it to WW? Of course you can lose weight without logging everything. You can lose weight logging nothing. Fine with me what others do, but like I said, If I'm going to bother logging I want to see the complete and accurate picture, not just parts of it.
  • If you want an accurate picture you need to log EVERYTHING that you eat. Just logging some stuff and not others doesn't really make sense to me. But I'm interested in watching carbs and sugar, not just calories. It's really easy to add apples, bananas and oranges so why not?
  • Some browsers block ads. I use Brave.
  • No. At the gym after I work out on weeknights. Rarely any other time.
  • Very inspiring! Nice work!
  • I think most any gym would accommodate someone just wanting to do month-to-month. It would be a higher cost per month because they'll want to ink you in to a year or two. But cash does talk. ;)
  • When I started I used the Body For Life program. I still pretty much go by that but I've put my own twist on it. I don't carry my clipboard around with me anymore recording my sets. On this page you can download exercise worksheets: https://bodyforlife.com/weight-training-plan This way you can make a plan and then go in…
  • What does "fat loss" have to do with this conversation? It's about getting an accurate body comp.
  • I have an Omron Body Comp Scale where you stand on it and also hold the built in handle. I think I paid around $139 for it a few years ago - they are way cheaper now. When I read about them I got the idea that they were fairly accurate - more so than cheap Walmart crap. I don't know for sure about it's accuracy (and I'm…
  • I can relate. I use N.O.-Xplode. I've been thinking they should change the name to M.O.-Xplode! As the label says "Explosive Energy." LOL! It didn't use to cause that issue... I don't know if it's the latest version (something they added) or what. I still take it anyway. :flushed:
  • I think the brand/quality and age might effect the accuracy of either of them. Not enough information on those specific scales to make that kind of determination. You didn't say how far apart the numbers are. 3-5 lbs? 10-20 lbs? Just pick one as your "official" one. Use both for fun if you like. Note upward and downward…
  • Experience on the board, I'd guess.
  • That's for sure!
  • Although I step on the scale at the gym almost every day, I usually do an "official" weigh-in once a week on Saturday morning on my own body composition scale. I like to track it. But don't really obsess over the results. If I don't see things trending in the right direction then I know I need to make adjustments.

  • Yeah, it's funny NOW!! LOL! ;)
  • When I'm in the heat of the moment I just think to myself how I feel after I give in and eat the stuff vs. how I feel when I stay strong and don't eat the stuff. I'm like a food-aholic and have a real problem stopping at one donut or whatever. Then I feel bad physically from eating too much and mentally from thinking I…
  • Stay close to a restroom.... every time I eat something there... especially buffets... Just keep this in mind. ;)
  • Amazing! Great job! I'm at your Day 1 stage now... a little older. :( But you are inspiring. Thanks!
  • I agree with the advice above. As you lose weight and improve diet your energy levels will improve. I'm assuming your 30 minutes is cardio (bike/elliptical/treadmill)? When you're done with that, go to whatever cable machine circuit your gym has and do a set on each machine. Wake up those muscles! Might be fun! Don't…
  • I think it's pretty normal. I attempt to eat cleanER and in moderation. If I mess up I don't let it get me down, I just refocus and move on. Keep your eyes on the prize. ;)
  • The only vanilla shake I can stand is Vectron from Prosource.net. But it is DELICIOUS! I look forward to it every day. It's is a fast-digesting protein that I have in the morning. I love it, unfortunately I think Prosource.net is the only place you can get it. I figured since the vanilla was so good that the strawberry…
  • I've tried a few and the one I like best is N.O.-Xplode. I wouldn't use it for cardio only but I take it if I'm going to hit the weights within a half hour or so. I do a cardio warm-up before hitting the iron.
  • It would seem to me that doing chest exercises would build the pectoral muscles and ultimately make the breasts look bigger. I'm a supporter of that approach myself. :)
  • I don't know about that and several people are making that claim so I won't debate it. I know I can step on mine, my wife can step on it (she weighs less) and I can step on it again and get the same result. That's consistent and accurate enough for me. I have a Walmart Weight-Watchers body comp scale and it's a P.O.S.
  • I had a few cheap Walmart scales. I could step on them 3,4,5 times and never get the same reading twice. I was annoyed by that. So I splurged and got an Omron Body comp scale. It cost me about $130 but I think it's worth it. I can step on it as many times as I want and get the same exact reading every time. I do the full…
  • I step on a scale every day at the gym but my official weigh-in is at home on Saturday mornings when I first get up. I have a nice Omron Body Composition scale. I use that for my full body comp and those are the results I post here on MFP. I don't see any benefit to doing the full comp daily. What's important is the long…
