I read an article recently about oatmeal. Apparently people who like oatmeal are masochistic by nature and prone to self-abuse.

Perhaps, but I think he also makes the point that exercise 'bursts' at the gym CAUSE us to compensate in negative ways because we are fatigued afterwards e.g. resting more than we might normally or overeating because we require the calories we've expended. I think what you're experiencing is normal. A fast 5-6 lbs and then not so much for a few weeks. Stay with it and you'll start to lose it in chunks - probably a 4-5 lb loss in a week or two. Good luck!

I experienced the same thing for the first 4 - 5 weeks. After losing about 10 lbs I have now have more energy than before I started dieting. I expect that to continue as I plan on losing another 15 lbs
