  • So 4th month on keto, 3rd cycle. Early by 1 week again and heavier than usual. Also got a migraine which isn't new, but this one was way more intense than usual. I also have been A LOT more meticulous about my macros, so it could be I am still fat adapting or going into deeper ketosis than I was previously.
  • Start by buying local if you can, the Farmer's Market's near you or some of the smaller ethnic grocery stores. And WASH WASH WASH whatever you buy. Also, you may find the ketogenic, low carb way of eating more within the types of foods you eat now. The veg exalted here are mostly greens. For a greater understanding, check…
  • My new cycle came right on time this month, 30 days from the last one that was a week early. It's back to it's same flow, cramps, etc. I'll keep monitoring it but I think it might have just been a fluke as I was getting into true ketosis.
  • Hi. I discovered that initially I had set my MFP up saying that I was more active than I actually was so it was saying I would burn more calories based on that, but when I started using my UP24, I realized that was a truer calculation of calories and movement throughout the day. So I changed my MFP to sedentary instead of…

  • I use an UP24 device to track my calories burned for the day, so I go by that. I don't seem to burn nearly enough, except on the days that I do my 5 mile walk/run.
  • I sort of miss logging my exercise here vs. in the UP24 app. I think that UP has a more accurate calorie count which is why I do it. but I'm curious, for anyone else that uses UP, how do you log?

  • I'm a lazy gym goer. Seriously. I make myself go to move because I sit behind a desk all day and sitting for such long periods of time causes immense pain. I take a low-medium intensity Gravity class 2-3 x a week and then I do some very light lifting on my own. a couple of times. I also try to walk 3-5 miles at least twice…
  • HA! Water THROUGH THE NOSE!
  • 3 weeks of daily light exercise and I am still NOT energized. I am exhausted. I hit a wall in the afternoon and it's all I can do to stay up until 9p in the evenings. I've been getting more sleep, but I wake up exhausted. My doctor mentioned adrenal fatigue as a culprit and suggested DHEA. I've already been taking the Mag…
  • My doctor just told me to start taking this supplement. DHEA is a hormone your body naturally produces. However, if you are suffering from a thyroid disorder, adrenal fatigue and/or high stress producing large amounts of cortisol in your body, you won't produce as much DHEA. Taking this supplement actually helps balance…
  • My cycle came 10 days early and lasted 3 days longer than normal. Not sure whether its the keto or something else. Going to keep monitoring it and this thread.
  • The Up24 is not a heart rate monitor. It is more or less a fantastic pedometer with a great user interface logging your steps and activity. You can connect it to programs like Runkeeper and MFP for even greater data. But it is definitely not a HRM. You'd have to purchase a Polar type device if you want that kind of…

  • Hi! From all of my research, I've discovered that it really and truly depends on what type of diet you are following, ie Low Carb, Keto, Vegan, whatever. If you get more specific about that, then there are tons of blogs and food sites that have put together various types of meal plans. Pinterest has a been a huge resource…
  • Cheers! Downloaded!
  • I just bought my UP24 this week and after 3 days LOVE IT! I love seeing my stats, its a real motivator to MOVE! How's yours doing after 2 months?
  • Check out his recipe for 'bread' that I came across. Pretty much has ALL the fiber you'd need in one slice a day. I haven't made it yet, but I hope to this weekend. Someone's already input the nutritional data for this, just search for Life Changing Loaf. 18g Fiber and 11g Protein per slice! how awesome is that?…
  • Count me in! I love it when people actually work together to support each other. A group of my friends (all local to me) recently started a 30 day challenge group on FB. We've been actively getting together for hikes or workouts or walks, whatever and it has been a great journey filled with support, so much so that we…
  • Has anyone tried the Bulletproof Brain Octane? From what I can discern it's an even higher grade. I haven't bought any of it yet, still using coconut oil. Because of the Orangutan deforestation issue, I'm loathe to buy anything with palm kernel oil. I wish the companies would be more forthcoming in their sourcing.
  • I do! Super tasty too. Spinach Turkey Loaf: Trader Joe's - Kosher Ground Turkey 93% Lean, 1 container (16 oz ea.) Trader Joe's - Organic Chopped Spinach (Frozen), 1 cup/81g Trader Joe's - Freshly Shaved Parmesan, Romano & Asiago Cheese, 0.2 container (28 tbsp ea.) Onion - Red Onion, Raw, 100 g Trader Joe's - Just Cashew…
  • Yes I mean the preset saturated on MFP. It's automatically at a ridiculously low number so when I do the keto plan it says I'm 'over'. I am going to set it higher, I just wondered if other people put in ratios or goals for all 3 and if so, what might they be? That's all.
  • I guess my concern is that it automatically puts a number in that I apparently go over due to my high fat diet. My OCD gets the best of me. I want to put numbers in that mean something!
  • Hey I just came across this recipe that you might like for soda water - French Creme Soda! http://mariamindbodyhealth.com/french-soda/
  • I've only just started logging my supplements and I'm bad about doing it. But, if you go back a few days on my diary, you should be able to see the brand, etc. let me know if you can't. I get everything off Amazon too, as it's far cheaper. If you do nothing but take the Magnesium at night and D3 in the morning, you'll feel…
  • I bought a SodaStream and drink nothing but sparkling water. I only ever add fresh lemon or fruit slices or cucumber and mint to flavor it. So tasty! And much cheaper than bottled, not to mention easier on our planet.
  • Here's a nice guide for you, http://lifehacker.com/5880630/use-your-hand-to-estimate-your-portions
  • Just got a new Blendtec and made this for the day! Creamed Spinach, Mushroom and Chicken Soup (2 Servings-2 cups each) 2 cups Coconut Milk 1/4 cup Yogurt 2 cups Fresh Spinach 1 cup Raw Crimini Mushrooms 6 oz. Cooked, Chopped Chicken Breasts 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese Nutmeg Salt Pepper 21 Seasonings Combine all ingredients in…
  • I've been having the same issues and just started taking Magnesium and Niacin supplements in the evening when I go to bed and then Vit D3 when I wake up. It seems to be helping with the exhaustion and the constant sore muscles, + I sleep infinitely better. I also drink an insane amount of water.
  • I only just started this myself, so I'm certainly no expert. However, I've been reading EXTENSIVELY. My best guess is that your calories are TOO low. NO ONE can exist on 1000 calories without going in to starvation mode. Your body is probably holding on to every nutrient it can get. I bet if you keep your fat high and…
  • Just had my first bulletproof coffee this morning. 16oz. I loved the taste, but it was hard to drink that much, this early in the morning (5:30a). Driving to work I felt overly full and slightly nauseous, like I 'ate' too much. But oddly, I feel some hunger pains too. I'm going to start drinking my water to see how I feel.
