  • I should have mentioned I'm a medical nurse with 30 years experience and I wouldn't attempt to tell you what's right for you to do to put it right without being able to access tests , take a full medical history and being able to examine you, and neither should anyone else, because if they're wrong it could be drastic! Go…
  • Hi hun, I really think the advice you need is medical expertise. You need to speak to a doctor, tell them exactly what you have been doing, what you are eating and drinking and how exactly you are feeling. It sounds like postural drop in blood pressure and there can be several reasons for that. One as simple as not…
  • Every time you move you burn calories. Whether it is something that you do every day or not. This site calculates how many calories you burn doing all these activities, it calculates how much food you should eat for your sex, weight, height etc. as you do activities, it will tell you how much more you can eat if you so…
  • Hi, Add me as a friend if you want. I've been here for a couple of months and have made a good circle of friends, who I am sure would be happy to have one more friend too. I'm 53 and very overweight and have lost 20 lbs since I joined. I'm still feeling very motivated and committed as i have a few health issues that I…
  • Hi, sweetie, I am pretty new too and have an awful lot of weight to lose. I want to lose 188 pounds and have lost 8 pounds in the last two weeks. I am really committed to getting all of this weight off because it is ruining my life. I am a 53 year old woman who developed an under active thyroid, yet despite feeling ill…

  • Hi sweetie, saw your post and, well to cut a long story short I can spot desperation when I see it. Only because I am in the same boat. I'm a lot older than you at 53 but I have the same desires and am sick of doctors who just hand you a diet sheet printed off their computer when you go to them for help. I do have an under…

  • Hi, I read your post and it touched me deeply. It touched me because I can really identify with everything you said. I have a sob story too but I won't bore you with all the details. So, to cut a long story short, I have gone from a thin beautiful girl who was always laughing, to an old, fat, miserable woman. I decided two…
  • Hi, I started having trouble with weight gain, tiredness and depression just after I had my daughter in 1984. Despite being sent to the thyroid clinic they decided that my blood test did not quite reflect that my thyroid condition needed any treatment. 10 years later, with a 10 stone weight gain and the inability to stay…
  • Hi, if you need anymore friends to help you on your weight loss journey please feel free to add me. No pressure but I would be happy to give support if I can. I'm 53 and have gained such a lot of weight through health issues and i am now absolutely determined to lose it all. I think that I will just become a permanent MFP…
  • Add me if you need a friend I'll try my best to help you. Been here two weeks and have a long journey yet but I am always happy to have more friends. It's amazing what a bit of encouragement online will do. Good luck! X
  • Hi, welcome to MFP. Add me as a friend if you want. I will try to help if I can. Good luck! X
  • Hi there, I spotted your post and saw that no one had replied and thought I'd drop you a line. I too have an awful lot of weight to lose and it is going to be a long and probably difficult journey but, like you I am determined to succeed. I think I am probably a lot older than you but I don't see why that should stop us…
  • Hi, I just joined nearly two weeks ago and desperately want to lose all my excess weight once and for all. I have a long way to go and I really want to be in it for the long haul. I have never joined a group like this before, mainly because of embarrassment at trying to explain the reason for my being so overweight, but I…
  • Hi, I saw your post and that no one had got back to you and wondered if you would like to add me as a friend. I have an under active thyroid, which I know is not the same, but I do understand the difficulties that you are experiencing. I piled weight on over the ten years it took my doctor to decide to actually treat my…
  • Hi Sweetie, Add me as a friend if you want. I am pretty new to all this but will be happy to talk and give support if I can. Try not to feel bad about yourself, there are always enough people in the world who are quick enough to put you down with out doing it to yourself. You have taken the steps to make some changes to…
  • hi, Just spotted your post and saw that no one had answered you. I don't like to think that you are alone in your quest. I have just joined MFP about a week and a half ago and although I have an awful lot of weight to lose I am already appreciating the help of having a support network. Please feel free to add me as a…
  • You go girl! x
  • Hi, You can add me as a friend if you like. I'm pretty new to this too. I just joined a week ago and lost 8lb in my first week, but I have a very long way to go, still another 180lbs to lose. • Hi babe, I just saw your post and felt I had to contact you. I am a 53 year old women who has a daughter who suffers from rapid cycling bi-polar disorder and I can understand how hard things are for you. In fact I have asked my daughter to send you message as I think it would be good for you both to speak. Mental health…
  • Hi, I'm a nurse who was retired through ill health a few years ago and since then piled on a load of weight, mainly because of depression and immobility. I just joined earlier this week and desperately want to get all the weight off. You can never have too many friends I say, so I would be only too happy to help you on…
  • Hi, Welcome to MFP, I just joined this week too, so I reckon we both need friends to get us through. I am happy to be your friend and help out if I can. xxxxx
  • It depends on your metabolism but four hours before bed is a good start. I take mine at 7.00pm and usually head off to bed anytime after 11.00pm. By then I am starting to feel pretty tired and ready to nod off, if I can get comfortable. You really just have to experiment until you find the best time for you. x
  • Hi there, I'm pretty new too, just joined on Monday. I have 188 pounds to lose, so its going to take some time. I have health issues too that make exercise difficult, so I understand where you are coming from. If you need a friend please feel free to add me, I love a natter and would be glad to help if I can. xxx
  • Yeah you will have trouble waking up if you are only taking it an hour before bed because it is not nearly enough time to get in your system. Most general practitioners do not realise this and prescribe it to be taken last thing at night. When I was first prescribed Amytriptiline, I had to firstly attend a pain clinic. The…
  • Hi, I take 125mgs of Amytriptilene every evening ( and just to mention, it should be taken approx 4-6 hours prior to going to bed even for sleep purposes as it takes a long time to get into the blood stream and take effect ) for back and leg pain and it does not seem to hinder any weight loss. Everyone is different of…
  • Hi I'm a newbie! Hope that I can make some new friends who are aiming for the same things as me?
