  • Former competitive swimmer here. The people above are right creating 'sets' or a workout that includes a warm up, then a harder or faster set of swimming and then a cool down is great way to improve your swimming workout. Efficiency is a thing too, as you become a better swimmer your 'feel' for the water improves. You will…
  • Thanks! There were some great tips in there for during the process of weight loss. I also would medicate with chocolate because the sugar rush makes my head feel a bit sharper.
  • Throwing up always makes it feel better for a while and usually can give me the relief to fall asleep. The other weird one that helps me a lot when the headache gets unbearable is getting in the shower. I know its not the most logical place to go with the loud water noise, but the feel of the water pressure on my head…
  • I just have to say a huge thank you to everyone who answered! As I am sure all of you know, it is always so nice to hear that other people suffer through these too. They can be so isolating and jobs, friends, and life don't always understand. I am on 20mg of amitriptyline a night. This has definitely lowered the number I'm…
  • Hey oh_happy_day yours sound just like mine! The numbness is an extended aura which makes them hemiplegic (they mimic stroke symptoms), which includes numbness down one side, and aphasia (when you can't speak or say the right word).
  • Add exercise too! Double benefit of being able to eat what you want to make up the exercised calories and for me the endorphins make my cramps SO much better.
  • How early are you in your weight loss too? I found for the first week on my plan I was really hungry. I think it was just my body adjusting to not having a full stomach all the time. On the bright side, it got WAY better after the first week and my body is a lot more used to it. 950 calories is still a lot. Be smart about…
  • Thanks guys! Seems like I am more or less on track with most of you. And I am knocking back the water, its something I have to make sure I do to prevent my migraines anyways.
  • It is really inspiring to see these photos. I especially like seeing the women who look so gorgeous and slim, but the scale still doesn't say a tiny number (not that there is a problem when it does). I was a competitive athlete when I was younger and at my absolute lightest was still 175lbs (but pretty slim and very…
  • I picked a digital one for £22 and it seems to have good reviews on amazon, so hopefully that works!
  • That is great! Thanks!
  • Hey there is a great app from Race for Life for training from a 5km to 10km. I just ran my very first 10km race a few weeks ago and the app had great training runs to get there. Plus its designed for about 3 runs a week, which was great! I get shin splints too and I didn't have any problems with the runs outlined in the…
  • Hi ladies! I am trying to lose 40lbs too. I used to be really athletic and strong (I was a competitive swimmer), but since University my weight has really spiralled and I really want to do something to change it. I am trying to turn my focus away from a number on a scale and back to being a healthy and happier me (I have…
  • What has worked for me in the past is having something to do with my hands if I am watching tv or something else. If I keep my hands busy (knitting, playing video games, drawing, etc.) then I am less inclined to shove food in my mouth. Although I am not always the best about being consistent with it
  • Thanks so much for the encouraging words. Im still feeling pretty worried about how I am going to make this work.
  • I completely understand. I use any excuse to eat food. Junk food, especially chocolate, is my go to, but really any food can be bad. I am having a hard time breaking the cycle.
  • I am going to get my first tattoo when I hit my goal of 30lbs lost
  • Thanks for the words of support! Everything helps with this! I'm working with my roommate to try and get extra motivation with a buddy and had a good day of eating and exercise today.
