  • This! I started maintenance 5 months ago by slowing bumping up my calories 50 - 100 every 2 - 3 weeks while monitoring my weight. I try to keep it between 135 - 140. I'm usually pretty consistent at 137. The past 2 months I was at 1950cal daily before exercise cals and I still lost 2 pounds so I bumped it up to 2000 cal…
  • I eat them. Though if i have a long workout or race planned, I usually spread them over the day before to the day after. Its really hard to eat an extra 1400 calories!
  • Nuts are a good source of nutrients especially almonds.
  • I'm 5'5" and started at 160lbs with the goal to go to 135lbs. I'm almost there. I started at 1650 NET but have gradually bumped it up to 1860 NET as I get closer. I never hit a platue. I think you should gradually increase your calories 100 a day every month and see how it affects you. If you gain after 1 month drop it…

  • Peanut butter rice cake sandwiches for breakfast. It turns out to be about 260 cal total. I can't help myself. I LOVE peanut butter!
  • I wanted to loose 20 - 25 lbs by my wedding in August. As you can see from my ticker, I'm basically there. I found it pretty easy. Though I'm young, athletic, and a little obsessed with logging food. :) EDIT: Apparently, my ticker doesn't show up. But I've lost 21lbs since January 1st.
  • I agree with everyone here saying that it really just a competition with yourself, pushing yourself to do better and be healthier. Every one of us is different and will peak at a different speeds. My 5k PR is something like 24:23, but I've been running for 10 years so take that with a grain of salt. When I first started, I…
  • *bump*. I would like to know too.
  • I follow the "Runner's Diet" from Runner's World (article linked below). That's 25% fat, 50% carbs, 25% protein. I need the carbs for my long runs. http://www.runnersworld.com/article/0,7120,s6-242-304-310-7771-0,00.html
  • I try to donate as often as possible. I was curious, any one know how many calories you burn donating blood? Or if there have been any studies about it? I bet it also affects how much of your previous, recent food intake is absorbed.
  • Thanks all for the thoughts. I guess I should have specified that the 1700 is NET. I just did a BMR calculation at moderate activity (2300) and that seems to match my results, except that I believe the BMR calculators are for total calories/day not NET. From my past, it seems that NET 2300 would maintain my weight? All…
  • When I go over for the day, I like to think I'm boosting my metabolism through "zig-zag" dieting.
