Thanks, so far so good!

ummm.... in a nutshell, you may be selfish (which isn't always a bad thing- in this case it's definitely not a bad thing) but you are doing absolutely the right thing. Your father and sister are presumably over 18 YO - unless they have some kind of developmental handicap that precludes them from getting up and ready on…

OK i just saw your update - good going!
-
hi tasha! you ask how can i start? well, you start. stop over thinking it - it's not that complicated, honest. you need to eat less/move more and you will lose weight. If you start out by saying things like "i'm so mad at myself", "I'm too lazy", "I've tried everything" , then you will stay in exactly the same place you…

oh and, ummm, we'll need your address... sounds like a great meal!:drinker:

black bean burgers call for some guacamole and salsa! or sauteed mushrooms, or mushrooms and onions - serve as a topping/side. or if you can find the big portobellos - then grill the mushrooms (whole, just take off the "leg" and clean out the under side a bit) and use them as your "meat".
-
do this, first. you're in school - take advantage of the counseling services that are most likely available to students. good luck!

Ok, stop, take a deep breath and... The short answer is absolutely yes. Weigh loss is achieved in the kitchen, not the gym. Exercising has many added benefits but it doesn't make you lose weight( and that's really the short answer. Obviously it's helpful if you can exercise but at thus moment you can't). Start by figuring…

go to your doctor. could be nothing, could be something. but it's always better to check it out, sooner rather than later.

I understand YOU can't drag your scale around with you, but can you ask the cafeteria people for a scale or measuring device? or ask them if they know what is the weight of the little bowls of rice? i'm assuming they have to measure things.
-
definitely portion sizes! if you look on Tuesday - you had in one meal: a whole cup of oats (that's a LOT), 350 cals worth of Pani Puri (which i 'm not sure what that is but i think some kind of fried dough?), and two slices of low cal bread. so that is a lot of calories and a lot of carbs, all in one meal. Try adding more…
-
why do you need to cut down on carbs?
-
AWESOME! you know - i just said this to my sisters the other week. one of muy sisters was venting about "so sick of having to count calories for the rest of my life". and i said, yes, if you want to lose the weight and maintain then yes but it's not that "the skinny people" don't count calories; they do; they just do it…

you are amazing. simply amazing!
-
in addition to the other advice - are you measuring/taking photos? because i notice that sometimes it takes time for the scale to move, while meanwhile your body is changing and it becomes noticable in clothing/photos. otherwise - most likely you aren't logging something/s.
-
as long as you are measuring/weighing and logging, and staying within your calorie goals, you should be fine. I don' buy that stuff because i know that it will immediately turn into a snacky thing and my son and i can polish off a box in a day. so we just don't. On the rare occasions that we go to a hotel or something, he…

that's so great - look at what you are doing for your children! that is simply wonderful!

proud moment from last night - i *didn't* give in to the extra food i wanted, and had my dinner and a fruit and that was it. so i woke up this morning and the scale was almost back to where i had been a few weeks ago (i had lost 24 lbs, then gained a few and got stuck, and now slowly working my way back to the "24 lbs"…

I used to go early morning till i finished my membership - but the key is to have your life set up for you so you won't fail - this means, meaking sure your clothing are ready for the gym, your gym bag is prepared (towel, toiletries, etc plus clothng for work), your food is ready, coffee, etc etc etc the night before. I…

you barely ate anything yesterday! of course you're going to be hungry - that's not good at all. eat meals, eat food. A small piece of chicken isn't enough for a dinner - round out your meal with vegetables (salad, cooked/steamed/roasted vegetables, etc), some carb (rice/potato/bread), maybe a fruit or small cookie for…

yup. Depends on what's available/where you live, but generally speaking: *buy in season local fresh produce. *eggs - cheap, versatile, good source of protein *lentils, beans - buy dry in bulk *rice *pasta *look for deals on cheaper chicken/meat Here is what I do: *Make everything from scratch - cookies, granola bars, cake,…

even if those numbers are true (which i don't think they are - i think it's closer to FIVE % fat) you mean mother nature wants NEWBORNS to eat high fat. Not sure that carries over to adults, but what do i know:noway:
-
congrats on your loss so far! i think that plateaus exist but they are usually as a result of *our* getting a bit lax in our eating/logging, and not necessarily a *real* physical plateau. at east that's how it's been for me and others that i know. so as someone said above - go back to basics: make sure you are diligent…
-
amazing - you look wonderful and so young and pretty!
-
wow - yo look wonderful!
-
you rock! i am so jealous!! i am planning to run in march - my goal is to complete the 5k and not be last!
-
Wow what a difference! Great progress
-
Excellent progress! What a difference already!
-
that's what i do. well, actually - i usually cook one day a week, i don't have time otherwise. so i make trays of chicken breast, chicken/turkey burgers, soups, etc and pack 'em in the freezer. in the AM - take "something from the freezer" and add a small salad (that i put together) or even a few cucumber spears and cherry…

A tip i learned from my sister (applicable to any party/buffet situation): first, "case the joint". don't take a plate, just walk around and see what's there. you aren't going to be measuring and weighing, but you can eyeball. then make a decision what you will have - lots of fresh veggies (if available), some fruit, and…
