Difficulty falling asleep with an empty stomach

Anyone else have issues falling asleep with an empty stomach? I realize I did under eat yesterday which is probably why I am feeling this way, but I have always felt this way. I've always feel it is easier to sleep full and happy than hungry and cranky. I'm pretty sure this a bad thing, I don't know. Yep, I think so. Any advice?

Hey there
It´s not a bad think feeling full and happy before sleeping.
For me it´s also bad going to sleep while hungry....terrible, getting up the whole night than.
There is no such thing like "don´t eat after 6 pm"....your body don´t care!
So, if you sleep better being happy......be happy0 -
Oh, thank goodness. I've always heard that it's bad or you shouldn't eat right before bed or go to bed full. If it's a myth that makes me very happy. It's hard enough falling asleep whether I am full or not, and if I wake up hungry it's only natural for me to eat something. I am new at this MFP, started yesterday, and I have insomnia issues. I am trying to get back to a more normal sleep schedule and eat well plus exercise. I think one or two days of waking up early (tired or not) will help me with this. At least then I know I will be tired at 10 pm and will fall asleep. Haha. ????0

Hehehe, yes it´s a myth!
Sometimes I eat at 10 pm.....something aroung a pound of meat, veggies, butter, sweet potatoes...etc.
Than fall asleep
And loose weight as quick as possible!!!!
The good thing is....you wake up, don´t feeling hungry and stuffing anything into your mouth you can find there.
That´s what happens to me after going to bed while hungry.0 -
Whenever I am hungry at night I just drink a lot of water.0

I don't like going to bed feeling hungry OR full. If I'm hungry and I'm about ready for bed, I'll have something like a few crackers with peanut butter. Enough to take off the edge but not enough to make me feel full.0

The only good thing about going to bed hungry is waking up with a flatter stomach! I also feel like I have way more energy to get up if I haven't eaten much the night before. If I go to bed on a big meal I feel bloated and lethargic when I wake up.0

No wonder you were hungry. I looked at your diary and you barely ate that day and worked out! You could eat a little more and eat back your exercise calories! It says you burned about 1800 calories and you only ate about a 1000.
To lose weight you need to eat! Just make healthy choices.

Sometimes I find that even a small glass of milk can help to supress the hunger!0

you barely ate anything yesterday! of course you're going to be hungry - that's not good at all.
eat meals, eat food. A small piece of chicken isn't enough for a dinner - round out your meal with vegetables (salad, cooked/steamed/roasted vegetables, etc), some carb (rice/potato/bread), maybe a fruit or small cookie for dessert. you'll feel better and stronger and you will be less inclined to give up.0 -
I love to eat some fruit before going to bed. Like oranges or something light, because I hate feeling really full and it's hard for me to sleep. And most of the times when I'm going to bed I'm really tired so I don't have think through a lot and I sleep right away. So maybe you can try fruit or juice?0

I have noticed I am getting really hungry around 10.30-11pm before bed, so I am having a clementine or a couple of strawberries about half 9 ish to curb the hunger.
I didn't think that it would work, but it does.
I kind of like not feeling bloated/full when I go to bed, and look forward to having my breakfast the next day. I am not usually a big fan or breakfast and over the last 5 years I've probably had breakfast only a handful of times before I started dieting, so I am glad about that!0 -
Try eating some cheese or nuts before bed. That often helps me.0

I don't eat after 5 PM, but I'm not hungry when I go to bed. Why not? I eat way much more then that and lose weight with it!0 -
If you are healthy, then it's not a problem to go to sleep with a full tummy.0

Had that problem for years dieting... and failed because of it.
So I decided to never starve dinner but eat a portion where I won't feel hungry.
Try 100g sashimi, tons of lettuce, 150g brown rice, and chinese hot spicy sauce.
It's called hwe dup bap and that should only be 400 kcal or so. It'll fill you up.0 -
Never go to bed hungry.. of course you can't sleep
Eat too little and stop losing weight (happens to me repeatedly).
It's a bit copy/paste but:

Check those out, then eat!0 -
I eat every 3h and nor later than 3h before sleep. It's full meal or just a snack. Thanks to that I never walk hungry or go to bed hungry. It depends on your life.
If you need to stay up late because of work or this is your choice you cannot say that you won't eat after 6pm... But at the same time if you didn't just finish hard workout and eat big meal at 9pm and go to sleep right after that... this will not help you loose weight0
