  • I can relate. I have made a compromise with myself. I can play online (read Facebook, MFP, etc) while walking on the treadmill. I tell myself I only have to walk for 15 minutes and if I want to stop after that, fine. I find here are times I will walk longer than that. Sometimes I am done after the 15 minutes. I also listen…
  • I have back problems and had back surgery a few years ago. This site has by far the best information I have found. http://www.drbookspan.com/BackPainArticle.html Best of luck to you on your journey!
  • Before you started running, did you go to running shoe store and get fitted for new shoes? If not, don't run another step until you do. If you have, go back to the store and tell them what is happening and they will get you something with the support you need. If they don't, go to a different running store.

  • I go to Leslie Sansone's site walkathome.com and do one of her walking workouts.
  • I can relate. I used to run and I loved it! Since back surgery, running is no more. I used to feel bitter when I would see friends post their running pictures on FB or I would see friends running and go to their races. It really hurt. How did I get over it? Fake it til you make it. Smile and be happy for them even though…

  • What kind of floor? Is it carpeted? Cement underneath the carpet? I wear cross-training shoes for my cardio workouts at home. I also have different shoes for walking outside.
  • I had a friend mention to me once that sometimes heating the fruit or vegetable helps. This article talks about this regarding fruit: http://www.beyondallergy.com/food-allergies/fruit-allergy.php It sounds like these allergies can be really dangerous.
  • Very interesting. Yesterday I had a doctor's appointment and I was super nervous about it. The wait is usually long, so I brought some celery with me to munch on. I was so nervous, I decided to munch on it in the car on the way. I calmed me down. I thought it was from the act of chewing. Now, I guess not!
  • This site has excellent information for relieving back pain. http://www.drbookspan.com/BackPainArticle.html
  • I 4th the Leslie Sansone suggestion. If you go to her walkathome site, you can do a sample walk there. (It's a 15-minute 1-mile walk. It's one of my favorite miles to do!). If you sign up on her site (walk social) , you will have access to a few more free workouts.
