Just turned 60 myself ... congratulations for your success, and for your outlook, which indicates that you are aware it's never too late ...

Yeah, you've got this! Avoiding invasive surgery and taking matters into your own hands ... total win. <3

Use the recipe feature!! Enter all your rice, add the water -- because you need at least 2 items to make a 'recipe', and if you're counting sodium, include any salt. Then set the recipe for 7 servings. Each day, enter one serving in your diary.

Huge fan.

Congratulations on the weight loss and health gain!

This^^ ... and all the other wonderful comments as well. There's nothing more I can add other than to say that you could lose a couple hundred pounds of ugly fat by leaving his a**. He doesn't deserve you. <3

It really IS good, and stays with you too, unlike regular bread. I just realized I made a batch of this last night, and accidentally only used 1/8 cup of psyllium ... still worked out lol.
-
Ok, here ya go: 1 1/2 cups coconut flour 1/4 cup psyllium husk (I use ground, but I've used whole husks and that works ok too) 5 tbsp oil or melted butter (I use Can't Believe it's Not Butter Light) 2 1/2 cups boiling water Mix the flour and psyllium in a bowl. Add the oil or butter and mix well with a fork, till all the…

I have to warn you though. If you DO have a gluten intolerance and decide to 'try' going gluten-free, make sure you're ready to give it up for good. I found in the past that re-introducing gluten to my diet after a break caused more havoc than I'd experienced beforehand. Either way tho, symptoms or not, if your body cannot…

Oh MY ... you haven't found the right info yet then. Gluten is a lectin (WGA). Try googling 'lectins and (your issues)'. I recently walked myself down the gluten > lectin > diseases path through google. I was astounded. Immediately kicked not only wheat, but basically all grains -- and a few other things -- out of my life,…

Me too

Sounds awesome!

This one caught my eye recently. Haven't tried it yet, but plan to soon. http://allrecipes.com/recipe/8607/low-cal-chicken/

Basic pea soup (split peas, water, seasonings). It's great WITHOUT added protein. I save my ham/bacon to use in a dish where I can actually taste them. :)
-
I tried it once, but apparently didn't bake it long enough ... they came out pretty soft and flat. HOWEVER, I later gently sliced one open and toasted it face-down on a hot pan ... it was really good.
-
And yes ... slow is good. Learning how to avoid having to look for a 'quick fix' ever again is VERY good.
-
Oh HECK yeah ... and a milkshake. But make sure you plan for it. You don't want to eat all your daily calories by noon and have none left for later in the day. That's a recipe for a bad day. However, we all have bad days now and then. If you do, shake it off, learn from it ... and get right back to good the next day. Don't…

ABSOLUTELY. Every time turkey goes on sale, I'm all over it. In fact, I still have a few 100 g packages of turkey breast in my freezer from Christmas. Unfortunately, the carcass has been long brothed and consumed ... along with the carcasses of my friends' and relatives' birds. I have no idea why anyone would throw out…

Oatmeal. It's usually very reasonable, and you can do lots with it. If -- like me -- you're not fond of cooked oatmeal for breakfast, you can mix plain oats with water, place flattened mounds on a sprayed cookie sheet and make oat biscuits. Top one or two with a bit of peanut butter and it's a quick breakfast. Where I live…

Oh yeah, that stuff does suck flavor-wise ... but perhaps blending the two would work. Personally, although I don't eat much in the way of processed food, my worst problems are still the cheese, pickles and tamari. My favorite foods. Gonna look for a low sodium version of tamari tho.
-
Pickles too ... sodium demons, dang it.
-
I just started noticing my sodium intake too. Holy crap! It sneaks in where you don't really notice it. For example: I make a delicious spring roll meal with rice paper, grated cabbage, spinach, green onion and an imitation crabmeat stick (can't afford prawns lol). The dip consists of lime juice, sweetener, jalapeno…

LOL, sorry to let you down WinoGelato, I'm drinking tonight, feeling great ... tomorrow I might be an a**hole tho, I'll be really hungry ... we could talk then if you'd like.

omg ... now I'm feeling mean too. Nope, changed my mind. Cortisol leads to fat bellies. Mines gone. Bad science.

If you were given 2300 calories to lose and you're eating less than that, it WILL happen. From my own experience I've gleaned that sometimes the body just doesn't want to lose, and will put up a fuss for a little bit, hoping things will go back to normal. Some 'expert opinions' suggests that every fat cell we deprive goes…
