I understand that if you are just starting out, avoid carby fruits and veg. Apples and carrots fall into that category.

@RowdysLady LOL-- I always say, "Keep It Simple, Sweetheart" to my high school students or when I'm giving myself a peptalk

Great Idea! I found out this week that if I brush the open avocado with a bit of olive oil that helps too (of course, whoops, CALORIES :) ) Hi all... I'm Jennifer Panicacci-- a sweet-aholic and mom of 2 grown boys-- Andrew and Paul. My husband has always been a paleo eater naturally and (of course) never gains a pound.…

@Dragonwolf: Thank you for friending me and for allowing me to join this forum/thread. I am always amazed and awed by the intricate and delicate workings of the human body. @RunRachelleRun, I sympathize! :) I would love any of you as Low-Carb friends, if anyone would like to read my bio? Thanks and good luck :)

@Dragonwolf: :) Thank you for friending me and allowing me to be on this thread. I am always amazed at how delicate and intricate the workings of the human body are. For example, my poor husband is so allergic to dust, no matter how much I "wet down" and "undust" the house. @RunRachelleRun, I sympathize! :)

I'm nervous!! :/ We've all been taught that some of these fats are "bad" for us. My family has a history of heart disease, high blood pressure, and breast cancer. :( I am worried that if I do this kind of eating it will increase my risk, etc. :o Any thoughts?

Congratulations on the adoption of your little boy  My brother was adopted and he was such a bright spot in our family. I'm Jennifer Panicacci, age 52, weigh 169. Also confused about keto questions. Babies are a blessing!

Please add me! I've been doing Atkins for about 3 weeks and have dropped about 5 lbs. :)

Hi there: Well, after having tried every diet in the book, I'm giving Atkins a try. We could certainly compare how we're doing to one another :) JP

Hi All: Have been using FB for a month and love it, but has anyone had trouble with FB multiplying your MFP calories? I ate 1400 y'day and FB says I ate over 2800!

A beautiful HOT day in Northern CA today. Finished painting two large sections of my back fence, in front of which I hope to do some planting of drought-resistant plants. Stainless steel dishwasher update LOL: Much better on the dishwasher front: DH was fine once I changed the order and reduced the price by $250 (go me!)…
-
@JanetMMcC: Oh lord; I was able to change the order for a stainless steel dishwasher last night. DH and I had a really good talk and I used all my "conversation skills" to try to get at why he was so upset. It was the price, not the color. So I went back to Sears and adjusted our order to get what we both wanted. I'll…

@Lisa: I LOVE your princess love story. How incredibly romantic. Joy to you!

Thanks, Cheri. I swear I've often wondered if he has high-functioning Asperger's. That sounds terrible, doesn't it. But I used to think it was me. anywya, thanks for letting me vent. I'll get over it; I always do. Jen in CA

*grandmallie: I envy you your kitchen. DH hasn't spoken to me for 3 days because I wanted to change the color of our new dishwasher from white to stainless steel. I've been crying and overeating for 3 solid days. I usually overeat when he gives me the silent treatment. I went from happy to miserable in the space of one…

*Carey: Wow!-- 1500 trees? Do you live in a forest? *Heather: "Knackered" and "nattered". Almost rhymes :) *Pip-- You inspired me with your bike marathon the other day: I rode for 20 minutes to my son's basketball game y'day and so many friends complimented me on my effort once I got to his gym. Fun stuff, and kept the…

Hi LoneMaple! It's crunchy, and can be dry, but you can taste the vitamins A and C (like you can taste them in spinach). It can be bitter or tangy (because of the high iron content). I put Udo's oil (maybe 1 tbs) over it to moisten it up, along with some dressing. Oh, and it helps if you chop it into small bite-size…

*Thanks for the chuckle Molly. That was perfect * Janetr: your grandbaby is precious. <3 ~Jen in easy breezy beautiful California

Eating kale salad at 10:30 in the morning! Trying to fill up on something green QUICKLY before I eat something white! (like cookies, donut, cake, etc. ) Carey: Thanks for reminding me; I need to give my dad a ring too. He's 74, the kindest and most hard-working man I've ever known. :) ~Jen from (beautiful, clear…

Janet, thank you for sharing about your grandson and your surgery decision. That young man had some wisdom that you needed to hear, and you were gracious enough to receive it. I am touched and wish you both lifelong health. You both now have even brighter futures because you have each other. ~Jen in California
