If I remember correctly, Fructose has 5 carbon atoms aranged in a pentagonal ring. Glucose has 6. (There are a couple other 6 carbon sugars that vary based on which non-carbon atoms are where relative to one another.)
-
Well Fructose ("fruit sugar") and Glucose (aka Sucrose, "white sugar") are slightly different at a molecular level. But I don't think that's what most people are -really- talking about. Glucose is added to a lot of packaged goods (along with sodium and fat) to make them "taste good" but compared to making the same thing…

Whelp, I started about 2 months ago around 455# and have lost about 25# so far, but I have a long way to go. I need to get under 300#, preferably under 250#.
-
I started about 455, down about 25# at this point, with well over 100# to go. (At the very least, I want to be in the 200's if not 250# or less.)

I don't have "Cheat Days" per se, but I do work in "Cheat Foods" to my daily goal on occasion. One perfect example is on Wednesdays. There is a particular delivery resturant with a sale on a dinner I enjoy, so I order and eat it most weeks. Now just over HALF my calories for one meal is not something I want to do often,…

Wow! 4 pages in less than 24 hours.... With my luck, I won't get picked, but I am interested!

I love my Flex! It doesn't do "floors" but I've heard enough horror stories of a storm system rolling in registering as hundreds of floors that I don't mind! One of these days, I'll get up to sedentary without being run ragged helping friends prep for a trip....

Since I started on MFP, I've lost an automobile tire! Since my highest ever (about 7 years ago), I've lost an elephant's heart.

I log midnight to midnight, but I try not to eat between midnight and when I go to bed on those frequent occurences that I'm up until like 1 am.

Lots of good ideas here, especially if I ignore the back-and-forth rhetoric. Will go over more closely in a day or two and distill down to the most important points.

Wish I worked out more, but I'm with you on this. I need to lose a LOT of weight! Height: 5' 11.75" (am I still allowed around here?) SW: 438.6 on 6/28 (I do these weekly, just forgot to do it before eating this morning. Will update tomorrow.) Neck: 22" (All on 6/28. I do my measurements monthly.) Waist: 64" Hips: 68"…

I made it last week and need am making more today! 1 gallon of milk in a 6 quart crockpot. (Adjust to your needs and size of crock pot.) * Heat to 180°F on high. * Turn off and crack lid to cool to 115°F. * Whisk in starter (I used a 6 oz container from the store last time. 1c from my last batch this time. Could also use…

Okay, so I finally did it. I made some Greek-style yogurt yesterday and today. Really couldn't get much simpler..... I have a 6 quart Crock Pot so I decided to make about a gallon of yogurt. Ingredients * 1 gallon skim milk * 1 Mexican Vanilla Bean (from Penzeys.com) * 6 oz container of Plain Yogurt w/ Active Cultures…

Now I have to go out and get some Nutella. Such a cross to bear.....

My goal? Well, the BMI charts say I have to get down to at most 189 pounds (from my current ~445) in order to be "healthy". To tell the truth, getting down to 299 (as in, under 300) would make me happy. 249 (under 250) would make me ecstatic! But honestly, getting down to under 400 would SIGNIFICANTLY lower my risk of…

Bump to copy and print out later

If you eat it, drink it, or do it (exercise)..... LOG IT. I've logged single bites of cheese before by weighing a couple after I caught myself and averaging out what I'd eaten. Together we can do what we could never do alone!

Well, MFP doesn't. However when you enter your height, weight, and gender it uses some formulas to derive what your BML is most likely to be. (BML is Basal Metabolic Rate, or what you would burn if you basically didn't move all day, not even sit up once, chew, eliminate, or anything else. NOTHING! Thick, in a coma for 24…

I'm afraid I'm with astronomicals here. The best "kickstart" to a lifetime of new eating behaviors is Day 1 of those very behaviors. Just start logging food, exercise, etc. and be done with it. Do it consistently for 3-4 weeks and it'll be a habit.

I'm sorry that you broke our abstinence last night, but today is a new day. A brand new start where your only goals are for today. Just one day at a time. EXACTLY like if you hadn't slipped last night! As for cheat days, though, it depends on how you define (a) your abstinence and (b) cheating. For me, I don't have any…

Wait. What? Watermelon has calories? Say it ain't so! *wails*

Bump to read more thoroughly later.

I'm not there yet, but I -am- 46. Due to schedule conflicts, though, I'm not able to get to many OA meetings so I could use all the friends here I can get.

If you "have to exercise", it'll be a burden you try to get out of. But it you look at it as you "get to go for a walk in the cool of the morning to clear your head and get ready for the day" it'll become something you want to do more. I have a friend who walks in the evening and uses the time to pray and thank God for…

I'm 46 and about 450 pounds, so I'm definitely in it for the long haul myself. Just got a bathroom scale so now I can weigh in more regularly. Would love to be pals so I'm also sending this message along as a Friend Request.

All time favorite is still my regular Wed night meal: Spicy Asian Wings, Breadsticks, and a 2-l of Diet Pepsi from Pizza Hut. New favorite healthy meal is a 6" Black Forest Ham on 9-grain wheat, Sliced Apples, and a couple 20 oz'ers of Diet Coke from Subway.

About 6 weeks, but I was only serious about losing weight for about 3 weeks of that.

... lose at least 25 pounds!

One other thought for people who have lost significant weight, are now at a healthy body fat%, but still "look fat" is to consider having excess skin removed, with or without spot lipo. (When we lose weight, fat cells shrink. But what I've ready many places is that they never really go away. Thus the lipo to permanently…
