  • Welcome Karen! It's good to have to you :) I'm actually down a pound this week! It's a small victory, but I'll take it. How did everyone else's weigh-in go?
  • My knees feel ok this morning. If I REALLY concentrate I can feel a little twinge in my left knee lol, but I'm sure I'm ok to work out today. I'm going to try to be really concious of my form and see how I feel tonight. Hopefully I can correct the problem before it gets too bad. On 30 Day Shred, Jillian Michaels says to be…
  • That's wonderful! Congratulations!
  • I've managed to get in 2 snacks today: a handful of almonds and a 100 calorie pack of popcorn. Not the best snacks, but at least it's a start. Dinner will probably be late tonight... I'm at my parents' house waiting for them to get home so I can say hello to them before I drive an hour back to my house (I had to come to my…
  • I also have a hard time eating small meals often throughout the day... Mostly just because I have a hard time eating when I'm not hungry. I've tried it, I guess I'm going to reduce the portion size of my main meals and see if that helps give me the boost I need to start snacking the way I should.
  • These sound so good. Thanks everybody!
  • Good job! I'm back around 154... That's where I stay these days
  • Let's do it Friday morning. I could use a week before my next weigh in. I got EA Sports Active for the Wii yesterday and started the 30 day challenge. I've done it twice and it is KICKING MY BUTT! Have any of guys tried it? It makes the WiiFit feel like taking a bubble bath!
  • What is the Dukan plan?
  • I worked at GNC for awhile, so I have a basic understanding. Creatine causes your muscles to hold on to more water, which lets them repair faster so you can work them harder and more often. The water also makes the muscles bigger, which a lot of people like. The problem with creatine is that your kidneys have trouble…
  • that is an excellent point! My family has all these health problems: my dad and both his parents have type 2 diabetes. My dad had triple bypass open heart surgery before he was 50 years old. I try to stick to whole grain, low fat foods, but that's because my lfe literally depends on it. My fiance's family are all perfectly…
  • He prefers white bread but he's switched to wheat. No other wheat products give him any problems.
  • Dawna, I thought I had quoted your post about where to get quinoa but apparently I failed. I get it at the "fancy" grocery store in our town, lol. None of the regular places carry it.
  • This made me laugh my butt off.
  • I agree. Anybody who wants something as bad as you want that hamburger should have one! One hamburger every once in awhile won't hurt you too bad. I had a hamburger last night, but I ordered it on a wheat bun, then as soon as they brought it to me I cut it in half and only ate one part of it. I didn't order fries, but my…
  • We eat a ton of quinoa. We have it at least twice a week, usually more.
  • I try to drink between 3 and 5 cups of green tea a day. I brew it hot and then drink it as fast as I can. I don't really care for the flavor but I do think that it has helped my metabolism. One article I read said that for a woman about my size (5'6", 150 lbs), drinking a cup of green tea can cause the body to metabolize…
  • I'll go check out your thread! There are a lot of really good green tea threads in the forums. I read a lot about it before I added it to my diet. I'm about to go have my first cup for the day! good luck, everybody! When do you guys want to do weigh-ins?
  • I know how you feel! I think 155-ish my just be my body's natural shape. It's still on the high end of my BMI range, though. I would really love to be closer to the middle.
  • I'm getting married in 23 days! I know you much be so excited. The 30 Day Shred DVD. It's a great workout and really quick (only about 25 minutes from start to finish). Do you have a Nintendo Wii? I've got WiiFit Plus and EA Sports Active. WiiFit is good for stretching and strength training, EA Sports Active is more of a…
  • I think you guys are right. That's been my course of action so far. I just hate to think that I'm encouraging her to invest herself in something that will end up causing her pain... She's been through a lot with guys, I hate to see one more treat her badly. But I know that I've been in bad relationships, been told they…
  • First of all, I think that it's wonderful that you can be so open about your eating disorder. There are a lot of control/shame issues that feed into eating disorders, and overcoming that is a wonderful step towards recovery. Second, I think it's really great that you take your religious convictions so seriously, especially…
  • Really cool article! I just shared that on my google buzz My whole life I worried about the poor starving children in Ethiopia. Turns out I should have been just as worried about the 18 million over-weight and obese kids here at home!
  • I just did a quick online search to make sure I was giving you the right information. From what I understand, coffee can trigger an insulin reaction in some people, even though it doesn't have any sugar. This is what causes the sweets cravings and it can stall weight loss. Which is crazy because other things I have read…
  • Caffeine causes some people (like me!) to crave sweets. That's one reason some diets, especially low carb high protein diets, say to steer clear.
  • EEK! This is such a stressful situation... My parents just found out what my fiance and I owe on our house and did the same thing. I think that if you can handle the payments, you have a responsibility to face your debts and pay them down. I know that's not always an option and people get in over their heads, but it sounds…
  • I just took my measurements and they're down for the first time since June! Granted, I'm only down an inch, TOTAL of all 3 body parts I measure, but still! It's better than nothing, right? Or maybe my extreme state of fatigue is causing me to measure inaccurately... lol
  • I weighed in at 152.8 a few minutes ago (which is down a little over a pound). I've had a stressful couple of days and I haven't been sleeping and I didn't eat right or exercise yesterday... I've read that some people lose a little weight on the days they don't exercise because their muscles don't hold on to as much water…
  • Welcome, and good luck! I've lost about 31 lbs using this site, it took me 6 months to do it, though. I'm no longer "overweight," I'm finally back to a healthy BMI. I would like to take off a few more lbs, though, to really get to my ideal body.
  • I wouldn't tell anyone... but that's just because I wouldn't want that news to over shadow my big day. Congratulations on both things, by the way!
