  • Be prepared. Insanity is HARD as hell. It's a total body system that is HEAVY in cardio. It's the roughest training I've ever done but I gotta say it's alot of fun if you like pushing yourself to do just one more push up, one more jump. I love it and P90X.
  • I did this and as a 35 male 5 10 180 lbs my BMR is 1844 and my sedentary TDEE is 2213. If I set my goal in MFP to lose 1 lb a week with sedentary activity it sets my calorie intake to 1713, which is a little lower than my BMR. I always eat my exercise calories back. Is this an issue that my weight loss goal intake is a…
  • Eat a few low hundred's more quality calories than you currently are for 2-3 weeks in addition to the physical activity you are already doing. Your body probably got used to what you are doing now and stalled metabolism. Eat more to bring the metabolism up and then after the 3 weeks are up cut the calories back to what you…
  • This. If you set the goal to lose one pound a week, MFP will automatically deduct 500 calories a day from what your height/weight/age dedicates you need to eat to maintain. This means MFP, without any exercise at all, and just going about your daily life routines, is setting you up to lose weight. Any exercise is…

  • Unfortunately you can't control what other people do. It's all on you. I have the same issue. Out of a household of 4 people I'm the only one who decided to eat clean (again) and I'm surrounded by fried food, pasta, rice (every day), cookies, and chips. The chips are mine but I eat it sparingly. I am a sugar addict and…
  • www.exrx.net. When I was in my lifting routine that's what I used exclusively for YEARS. The link below is directly to workout templates. You pick the template (descriptions of how to use it are on the right). Then it jumps to the body parts. Pick a body part and it gives you a list of exercises, how to do them, etc.…
  • Ya I love this game. It's a new round every day and mentally taxing. It's price is right with food.
  • ugh. Thanks for the pic of grandma slice. I haven't had pizza in a month and now I want one.
  • I second this. Muscle Milk is great if you can't find a way to eat good fats. Otherwise, for my personal tastes anyway, it doesn't have enough protein and too high in fat. You're better off getting Gold Standard Whey to get more protein and less fat, plus it's more cost effective. Also, don't get the RTD stuff (ready to…

  • If you set the activity level to sedentary that is setting the activity level of your daily life. BMR assumes you can't even get out of bed and you are basically breathing unconscious. That can't be included in MFP b/c the lowest activity level in it is sendentary (and not unconscious :)), which assumes you have to get out…
  • Wow. I never notticed. You are right my daily goals are 38g fat 170g carb 170g pro calories calculated from math = 1702 calories listed in MFP = 1,700
  • It took me a while to get this. Basically, if you set your age/height/weight etc, set the activity level to sedentary, set the goal to maintain weight, the results are what your body burns from sitting down at a desk job or home on a couch, driving to and from work, bathroom breaks, and sleeping. That would be your TDEE.…
  • I don't understand. The grams to calories posted is correct.
  • I like Honey Roaster Peanut Butter, but only the natural kind. I was never able to find both natural and honey roasted in one jar. So... I buy natural PB, open the jar, put a few tablespoons of oraganic Honey, and mix with a spoon. Tada... natural honey peanut butter.
  • I used to get sick to my stomach with protein shakes as well. Is this your first time eating high protein breakfast? Body may take some time to adjust.
  • This is very good advice. If you do want to track via MFP, you can always find a TDEE calculator online, input the age/height/weight etc, set the activity level to sedentary, and have it generate a number for you. Then go into MFP, edit your goals, choose custom, and enter the TDEE number + 500 as the daily needs. This way…
  • This. I've tried so many brands from Muscle Milk, Gold Standard, N-Large, ISO-Pure. Muscle Milk tastes the best but that's because it has the highest fat content. N-Large was ok but only in Strawberry, ISO-Pure is 0 carbs and tastes good (it's like kool-aid consistency and not thick like a milkshake) but is really…
  • How much sugar does MFP suggest you eat? What are your weight goals? What is your height/weight/sex? There's alot more to counting calories and carbs than the numbers. I'll help any way I can. How many pouches of the Advocare Spark do you have? Yes you should worry about sugar content IF you are using that as your main…
  • I have not lost nor gained weight but I am slowly getting my abs back. I also noticed my legs have gotten much much stronger. Use a tapemeasure and not the scale.
  • Did the cardio recovery yesterday. Man it's great to have a "day off" from the insane insanity and still burn 350 calories doing what amounts to yoga poses. I am getting more flexible too but the muscle burn KILLS! Good ole creatine to the rescue :)
  • I'm not paying attention to the scale anymore. I just used it to figure out what to set up in MFP. Since I have a desk job (sedentary), at 35 years of age, 180 lbs, 5 foot 10, my TDEE as noted by online calulators says 2200. I assume that's what I should eat just to maintain my weight and eat calories back when I exercise?…
  • Thanks. I changed my profile to sedentary as I sit at a desk most of the day other than the occasional break to walk to the cafeteria or bathroom. I also changed it to lose one pound a week. The calorie showed up as 1,700. So I get to eat a little more than I did. So now when I exercise I should eat the calories back,…
  • It's nice to see and feel progress, isn't it :).
  • Not for nothing but this is very damn impressive! Congrats.
  • Not pathetic at all. Any minor progress is still progress. I get all giddy when I can do one more pushup from week to week. It's a huge mental accomplishment for you! Try a minute progress every other day and before you know it you're running a marathon.
  • The fresco tacos from taco bell are actually pretty good and low in calories. One soft chicken taco is only 130 calories.
  • Been doing it for 3 weeks 3 days a week (life gets in the way). I'm not expecting as quick results but I tell you one thing. It is HARD but alot of fun.
  • Ok. Just so I understand to lose 1 lb a week Setting the goal to maintain weight reflects close to BMR in MFP and you aim to either eat 500 calories less or log exercise to burn 500 calories and and do NOT eat the calories back? In either case the result is to always have 500 less net calories by the end of the night? If…
  • What I did was cut out the junk food, white bread, white rice, and pasta altogether and found a salad dressing I love to replace it with. It was a HUGE eye opener when I had some mega stuff oreo's once and saw the numbers in MFP app. 4 cookies was 800+ freaking calories. Needless to say I threw out the rest of the package…
  • Replace Rice and Pasta with veggies and candy and cookie with fruits and protein bars and low cal yogurt or a welch's fruit snack here and there you'd be surprised how easy 1,200 calories really is.
