  • I tend to use vanilla protein powder. If you want to have a chocolate taste just add a teaspoon or two of real chocolate powder to it. For fruity tastes add fresh fruit - much better.
  • They had a series in the UK where doctors / nutritionists etc. investigated which fat to use for frying. Because of the smoke point of fats and oils, they found that coconut oil is best for frying. They strongly recommend not to use oils for frying but for salads etc. Heating up vegetable oils leads to the release of high…
  • Thanks to everyone for their comments so far :) :)
  • Here's the response from MFP: We have designed a program to help with healthy and sustainable weight loss. We do not recommend trying to achieve more than a 2 pound a week weight loss, nor do we recommend that women consume fewer than 1200 calories per day, or men fewer than 1500 calories. For beginning users, we do…
  • So I shouldn't eat the additional calories from exercise? Would make sense with not loosing weight ... But I would definitely go hungry with only 1400kcal
  • I'm not overweight at just under 64kg and 5'5 in height I do weigh the food, rarely eat out and my walking calories are calculated by Runtastic. What's MFP?
  • I'm 63.9kg this morning - want to be down to 60 or 61kg Abd being from Germany I like fresh bread/rolls and sliced continental meat and cheese :)
  • I have noticed my abs are showing more. And I know my age is a factor. My clothes still fit but my rings are tighter and some don't even fit anymore :( If I didn't eat the calories I burn when exercising I'd still feel hungry :) I do, unfortunately, get bored of eating the same frozen veg; prefer them to fresh ones
  • I only work nights, 4 on 4 off ...
  • Is there a danger of eating too much during the day befire the first night shift (after being off for four nights) considering I had 3 main meals and snacks during the day but then eat during the night, finishing off with breakfast the next day and not eating until 3pm when I get up?
  • I think that's what I'll do. I generally eat healthy. Also try to go to the gym 3x per week which can be before work or on a day off. Usually have porridge or a protein bar before and a protein shake after training. I eat a home made nut mix as a snack as well as fruit salad or raw veggies such as Kohlrabi or carrots with…
  • Many people are looking for a 'quick fix' ... which won't solve anything. As some have said here, it's a change in lifestyle - change what you eat (and sometimes one needs to downsize their portions and their alcohol intake), and take up exercise. You're not expected to go to the gym if it's not your cup of tea, but going…
  • Hi. I think the hormones are part of it but it's really about making sure you are aware what, how much and when you eat. Using this app makes you aware of how many calories/fat/sugar some food have - more than you thought. So it's about changing eating habits as well as keeping up with exercise. Used to do martial arts and…
