Hey - don't be afraid to go in as a newbie. Introduce yourself to the instructor and ask for help setting up your bike. If the instructor's not there yet, ask someone who looks like they are familiar with the room. If it turns out they are new, too, then that's ok as well. If you are trying to get set up on your own, make…

Lovely pic. Thanks for posting!

So impressive! Thanks for posting these pictures. Just fantastic.

I love this thread so much. My Bianchi Sempre is a fiesta of red black and white and I thought it was a bit much at first but it's really grown on me...

That is FANTASTIC! Good for you!

Went for the longest ride I've done since the century+ last August. 35 total miles on the W&OD trail in Northern Virginia outside of Washington, DC, where I live. It's a nice route. Fair number of street crossings in the early bits, but some nice long stretches later on. Took about 2.5 hours of riding time. I was happy to…

Great idea, Stu! I know I was on here a lot last summer while training for my first centuries (metric and miles). I did intervals once a week, tempo rides, and long slow distance to get the bum accustomed to the saddle...

I don't know, but I know they do photo ops with all the different performers and the president and first lady before the show.

We have been lucky with the weather around here this winter, not terribly cold or rainy. But it is definitely a busier time of year with work in the contest between work and cycling. So work has been winning the last week or so, but fortunately as a city dweller, I can take advantage of the bike sharing service to get…

I think everyone is tired of the weather! That is some great riding you've described and good on you for getting to it inside!

Good for you for getting the run in! Great work Thanks also for the good wishes about my back. It is getting better, though not as fast as I would like. I have taken a week off the bike but if the weather forecast is true for tomorrow, it is supposed to be clear and I am going for a birthday ride! I have the day off and…

That's fantastic and you have a super new bike! Congratulations! And Piccolarj, nice work on 3k in 2011, it is definitely time to get Fiona checked out...

Big Yin, I totally get that obsessive counting/figuring/counting again thing. It's one of the reasons that I really like doing intervals on the bike. I get to obsessively count minutes and second. The last few days have been spent dealing with nothing as fun as interval cycling (funny, no?); my back is all sorts of…

Hey Stu! Great idea. And as usual, great photo to go with your delivery story. Today's my first anniversary with MFP. I'm trying to use that milestone as a kick in the pants to get back to logging my food and making better choices. I'm 40lb down from where I was a year ago, but almost 10lb up from where I was in November.…

Went for a ride today for the first time in weeks (on the road bike, not the commuter). It's been long enough that it felt funny to be going so fast. We just did laps at Hains Point - a 3.something mile loop here in DC. I did some intervals - hard pushes from one stop sign to the other, probably 7-8 minutes on followed by…

Heck yeah on the 16lb difference, and as for the coffee and biscotti, also heck yes. Especially biscotti with the dark chocolate.

That's fantastic!

Road: 2011 Bianchi Sempre 105 Commute/around: 2011 Jamis Coda (Yes, it was a big bike year for me....the Coda replaced a 2005 Gary Fisher Tarpon hardtail MTB that was my only bike)
-
My first road bike was Chip because of a paint issue. My current road bike is Gina for Gina Lolabrigida 'cause she's a wicked hot Italian chick (Bianchi Sempre 105) My commuter is nameless which makes me sad, but the bike has not told me the name yet. It's a Jamis Coda and I love riding it. Just no name yet.... it'll come.

340 for the month of June!
-
64 miles this weekend in two rides. At 303 for June. Not sure how much riding will happen this week, but I may make it to 325....
-
14 on Tuesday and 40 yesterday has me at 163 for June. I think I should push for at least 250... We'll see, work is going to be hateful the last week of June...
-
I hope it's ok if I jump in late :blushing: So far in June I'm at 108 miles, I will try to make it to 200....

Sounds like you are off to a great start! Best of luck!
