Wow. Just getting to read this, now that the fun is over. My instructor is tiny and does crossfit, if anything she's underweight. This dance accepts all body types, but it certainly doesn't dictate the body type you'll have lol

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/14715035 I've been using this as a guideline, using my FitBit. Get your average steps after about a week of using a pedometer (not your goal, your average) and use that number and compare it to the ranges in the article. So far, its been very helpful for me.

Education always comes first. Do some research on the school, most of them have a gym you can go to for free with a student ID, some of them even offer free Zumba or yoga classes.
