What is your BMR? That should be the only target you should be worrying about- You still need to nourish your body.

Only 5 lbs in a month? You were doing something wrong! You should have lost that in the first week. The reason people gain he weight back is because they go back to eating like fools. If you learn how to eat right and stay on the maintenance phase you will not gain any weight back and will be able to regulate gain/loss.

Some of us are on low carb diets such as Atkins and we do not count our caloric intake. We only count the net carbs in our diet. Net carbs are total carbs minus sugar alcohols or fiber.
