Calorie limit?

Does anyone else not like exceeding a certain calorie limit? even though it's still under your maintenance? my daily limit is 1640, and today I had 1420 but I'm not to happy about it. I only feel "happy" if I'm 1300 or less. I know I cant be at those numbers eery day, but how can I not worry so much? I'm sorry I probably don't make much sense

I have similar ... I found that I was always trying to beat my target; even when I got to my target weight and it was time to stop losing weight, I still had to beat my target - so I was still losing weight with a maintenance target.

Solution? I just upped my target to gain weight; so I "beat" target stay the same weight (been pretty steady for 6 months now). Crazy, but it works for me :-)
  • What is your BMR? That should be the only target you should be worrying about- You still need to nourish your body.

Yes, but that's a very negative/unhealthy mindset. I don't want to be unhappy about eating unless I'm doing something extremely bad. You're eating at a deficit already, so there's no need to feel guilty. When I started feeling like that, I realized that I was sounding like a person with an eating disorder and snapped out of it.

It is not a limit but a goal.

It's a psychological thing - not wanting to go into the red. I feel it too. I'm trying to find my maintenance calorie goal, so I have been upping my calories by a couple of hundred every week or so. Now I have a much larger total to get in under, so I get to feel good for coming in under, but eat lots more food at the same time. I'm sure it's just a temporary, coming off of a deficit thing.

This sounds a lot like me - I also tried upping my target in order to get past this need to beat it but somehow still managed to lose some more weight. I could have sworn I was eating more!

Anyway, I've decided now to give myself a break from logging food every day. A whole month off without logging. I think I need it to stop fixating on numbers and being too competitive with myself. I'll continue to weigh weekly to monitor how things are going and then in a month's time I'll see where I'm at.

In a way, a scary move having been a pretty diligent logger for around 1 1/2 years but it's day 2, and I actually feel quite a sense of freedom.

This. See it as a positive; something you should aim for, not stay under.

Feeling guilty and negative about eating is not good. Try and change your mindset.

I allow +/- 100 calories when I am on track. so - between 1500 and 1700. I think a range is more healthy and it evens out over the week.
