  • Katie, I think one of the reasons stage 1 is so long is because of the learning curve- I wouldnt worry about it and just be the best lifter you can be every day. That's what I am doing, and am pleased with the results so far.
  • Hi, Katie, welcome! I finished workout A3 today and (laughing at myself) there is a sore spot on my right butt! I'm hoping that means something is lifting...
  • Hi, CanGirl I have MFP set at 1625 calories and I am logging my exercise (calling lifting "light calisthenics") and eating almost all of them back. I also try to have one "over" day a week to keep my metabolism guessing- I don't know if this is supported by any science, but I have heard that mixing up your calorie intake…
  • Ok still here, too! I finished workout B2 this morning, am still enjoying the program. I am making sure I do a lot of warm up before I lift heavy, so it is taking me about an hour to do the whole workout, including 10 minutes of warm up. I'm still working on increasing my protein intake: we ran out of bananas for a few…
  • I finished the second A workout yesterday. I did a fitness blender cardio warmup and a couple of smaller sets of each exercise before adding all the weight I could lift and doing the 2 sets of 15. It took me about an hour to complete. As the weather cools off, my morning stiffness increases, so the warming up becomes more…
  • Hi everyone, I completed 1B1 today. I lift at home, after coffee and before breakfast, and i notice that a warmup set or 2 makes a real difference for me. Got 113 grams of protein in today- a shake, turkey burger and 2 chicken thighs worked out well for me. (I do feel a bit like wandering around the living room clucking…
  • My lactose intolerance shows itself with almost immediate GI distress: gas followed by diarrhea. And depending how badly I've hurt myself, starting almost immediately and can last through the next day. To be fair, there are meats I really enjoy- sausages, bacon and ham being the top picks. Once I lose a bit more fat, I…
  • Thanks for responding- yep, had 2 boiled eggs today for snack. I really don't like to eat meat that much, so it has been a bit of a struggle to find palatable protein. I like tofu and beans fine, and eggs, but that takes me only so far. I used to be able to eat cottage cheese, but recently my symptoms have worsened. Im…
  • Hi, I started today too! I'm pretty excited to see some others on my same timeline. For the past month, I've been lifting a couple of days a week using the EM2WL heavy/light plan (but only doing the "heavy" workouts because I was just lifting twice a week.) I lift at home, using dumbells. Had no issues with workout A1…
  • What did you do for exercise? 3 mile run What did you struggle with? Still trying to figure out how to get enough protein- I am aiming for 140-180 g per day. Does anyone know if it is ok to have 2 soy protein shakes a day? What are your wins for the day? I was glad to feel sore from my lifting yesterday- even though I only…

  • I used to consume embarrassing amounts of diet Dr Pepper. I knew I needed to drink more plain water, and two things helped me switch: I purchased a water cooler (I get the 5 gal jugs of water at the grocery) and I drink my water out of one of those sport bottles with a straw. Now I drink a soda once or twice a week. It…
  • Hi all, late checking in, but better than never, right? •What meal of the day did you just LOVE? Or, what has been your favorite healthy/low calorie meal lately? I love mashed potatoes. I made homemade pasta sauce with roasted eggplant and portobellos and julienned yellow squash, and served it over a scoop of instant…

  • 45.6 miles jogged, including 2 5k races
  • On my off days, I do yoga, gardening and mowing the lawn (2 hours pushing the mower.). I've also just added some strength training (no weights, just body resistance) in the mornings. Eta- I run 3 miles twice a week and 4-6 miles on my long run day.
