  • I'm starting again after reaching my goal weight, but then I gained weight over two lockdowns and back at my highest way. I've gained and lost 30 pounds around six times since my early 20s. As I start again, I'm realising that I could easily blow my day's calories in a snack or single meal!
  • Hello! I'd like to join you. I've put on some weight since we moved. Recently left my sedentary office job and eager to get back on track. Name: Teresa Age: 44 Height: 5'1" Historical (quarterly) snapshot: Unknown, but I've lost 10 pounds in 2016  Start Weight 2 October: 135 Goal Weight Nov. 1: 130 Ultimate Target…
  • Nothing; the food is overpriced and I don't want to waste my calories on movie food.
  • I binged and ate around 4,000 calories yesterday. I tend to just eat everything in one go rather than moderate, which doesn't work for me. It is easier for me not to have it in the house altogether. I am getting back on track this week. I've been very stressed in trying to find work, which has lead me back to unhealthy…
  • As long as I eat lots of fruits and vegetables with some cheese, I can easily eat within 1200 calories and still feel satisfied. I've learned that it has to do with what I am eating. I am also a smaller person, so I don't need a lot of food.
  • Thanks so much for your thoughts/advice. This week, I will cut out the day-long blow-out and will do a much smaller cheat. I hope that the water intake helps me feel fuller so I won't be tempted to have a blow-out.
  • Thanks so much for your comments so far! My husband also said the same thing -- instead of a day blow-out on my cheat, that I need to keep it to a meal. I'm thankful that I do enjoy exercising. I signed up for a half marathon in June and am going to make an appt. with a personal trainer to help me up my distances for…
  • I can say that I am short with a small frame, and I had a proper fitness test done in an exercise science dept. by a nutritionist/exercise researcher, and my basic calorie level came out to 800 calories. There is no way I could eat that low and not be famished, but I must have a deficit below 800 if I want to lose weight.…
  • I am in the same boat and just posted a new topic very similar to yours, haha. I need to lose 20 pounds, but I exercise, and watch calories for the most part. I am also short, which doesn't help. I will be curious to see others' responses!
  • Feel free to add me. I'd like to meet more MFP friends 40 and over. I am 42 and trying to lose the 20 pounds/around 8 kilos that I gained over the past few years. I enjoy running, pilates, and weights.
  • Congrats to you! Running has changed my life. I used to run in high school, but picked it up again a few years ago. Running a whole mile is an achievement. Keep up the great work!
  • I logged my binge day on Saturday and ate almost 5,000 calories. I am not going to lie -- it was wonderful to enjoy lots of carbs and sugar again, and to eat what I wanted. I love bread and pastries especially, but I cannot keep them in the house for this very reason. I have some work to do this week, though!
  • Hello! I sent an invite to you. I am 5'2 and should be around 110.
  • I am going to log it from here on out, but my guess is when I totally relax and eat what I want, I probably eat around 3500K. Once I reach my goal weight, I am thinking of having a day every two weeks where I can eat more than usual (ie. the high calorie foods I've had to cut back on).
  • PS Just saw that you are staying away from meat. I don't eat meat that much. I love beans as a source of protein. Beans are great mixed in with eggs. I sometimes put them on salads, and they are also good in burritos with some fat free yoghurt instead of sour cream.
  • I am certainly no expert, but just based on what have learned: I would encourage you to eat lots of steamed veggies and fruits to feel full for few calories. Store-bought soups often have corn syrup and a lot of salt in them. as do corn-based cereals. You might try some protein for breakfast such as an egg, yoghurt, maybe…
  • Hello! You are welcome to add me. I am 41. I've put on 20 pounds over the past two years. I love to exercise, but it is sooo hard to watch my eating and I get very tired of counting calories. However, it is a necessity if I don't want to gain. I am determined to get this weight off (again) early this year.
  • I am in for at least 80. I will have to think about it some more. I plan to run a 6.5 km run in February, but hope to do a half in June, so I will need to start upping my running distance.
  • Add me, please to the challenge. :-) I majorly fell off the wagon after we went through a major move to a new place/home, but I am ready to get started again. My work clothes don't fit, and I will be going on the job market here in the new year. I never stopped exercising, though. I love to run. Thanks for doing this…
  • Four pounds down and I already feel better. I expect that loss will slow down, but just have to stay on track. I have three eating-out events this week. I have to prove it to myself that I can have willpower when I am out of my routine.
  • I've found that I can't really eat fried food, pizza, or pasta anymore without feeling really sick the next day, but when I do treat myself, I like ice cream or something homemade, sweet, and baked.
  • There's nothing wrong with treating yourself now and then. I hope you enjoyed it. I try to eat healthy, but man do I love a bag of Cheetos and something sweet and homemade every now and again!
  • I have to admit that when I crave junk food, it is Cheetos and potato chips. I just don't go down that aisle if I can help it and I don't buy them, because I would eat the whole big bag.
  • I fell off the wagon a bit this past week because I had a few celebrations. However, I am moving to a cooler place (temp-wise) in four weeks and I must be able to fit into my jeans and exercise tights again. I've got some work to do!
  • I know, it is hard. I am a small person and I can easily eat 1,000 calories or more at a restaurant. I am fine when I am home and away from temptation, as I don't buy tempting foods.
  • SW: 127 CW: 127 Goal Weight: 114 I fell off the wagon a bit this week when I had some good news and celebrated. Back on again!
  • Hello! I maintained my weight for a few years and I enjoy exercising. I run, do step, Pilates, and some weights. It is getting harder to control my weight into my 40s. I am currently 126, way too heavy for my build and height. I want to get back down to 112 so I can wear all of my cute outfits again!
  • Hello! Today's weight: 126.8 Goal Weight: 112
  • I have a couple pairs of Hunter boots and I'd love to wear them with leggings. Right now my highs and thighs would look terrible in leggings, but I can wait to wear that type of thing again!
  • Yes, different people require different amounts of calories. I know it sounds crazy, but I only need 800 calories a day if I am mostly sedentary. I even had a test done at a medical place. I am a small person and I have indeed found that 800 is my sweet spot. If I eat more than that, I maintain. I am so envious of folks…
