I have the FitBit and really like it for running and walking, measuring sleep, etc… the only thing it does not measure well is activity that is not step based (i.e., weights). I am thinking of getting the Body Media band now as I lift three days a week. However, I got the Fit Bit because I really don't want to wear an arm…

I will be starting stage 3 on Friday. Any tips would be appreciated! I have lifted for a pretty long time, but have decided to try all the stages of NROLFW. Some of the exercises have been challenging to do at my gym (there are no exercise balls or boxes there) so I have had to put in some substitutions. The body weight…

Full fat for me, too. It just tastes better, is better for you, and I find I eat less of it with more satisfaction.

I think you are looking great. Look at the bf and lvm changes! Wow! I hear you about the weight change--it is just hard to ignore that. But you are looking trimmer and tighter. I am sure that your lower body is following suit, it is just easiest to detest your personal problem areas :) I am envious of your hip and thigh…

Heybales, that is exactly what I was going to say! That is also a great trick for time saving with measuring my lunch time salad--I put my salad bowl on, measure, and reset repeatedly with each new item so that I don't have to use extra cups or anything. Measuring is a pain in the neck but it is the only true "measure" of…

Hey--you look SUPER! I wish I could see the bottom picture on the right a little better as it really looks like your legs and hips have firmed up even more than the last picture. Thanks for posting--great motivation for me. And I wish I had a weight buddy, too!

Yes, I am working at figuring out a new TDEE with less activity. Scooby says my TDEE should be 1955 and a 15% cut 1655 and my Fit Bit says I am burring 1950-2050 calories a day with my only exercise activity being walking, so they are pretty close. So, you are saying keep eating at cut this week but do a maintenance week…

I did not change workouts, but I actually did measure one day after lifting, as I needed to move my third lift day last week from Friday to Saturday, and I always check my measurements on a Sunday morning. I injured my back a bit on Monday after lifting, so I am taking at least this week off of lifting, if not the next as…

Thanks--I may chat with you about figuring out the details via the spreadsheet and FitBit. I know we both use the latter. I admit to having a lot of problems finding my TDEE--that is for sure. So it is hard to know if what I input into FB is accurate. Did you use the first page of the spreadsheet (or the TDEE section) or…

Thanks. Those were all great replies to my questions. I do intend lifting to be the focus and improvement for now (that may change depending upon body change and composition changes--have to wait and see if I like the results). In your opinion, Heybales, would the walking on recovery days be as good or better than…

Quick follow up: I got a surprise in my weekly weigh in yesterday of another increase of a pound. After being stable for a few weeks, I was a little surprised by this! My measurements are shifting around a bit, some down, some up. Question: should I stay at TDEE for another week or so versus starting the cut? I looked at…

Nice!

I am thinking of unsyncing my FitBit to MFP...I just get confused between the numbers. Do you find it helpful like that? It seems like I could just use MFP to log my calories and workouts (but just give one calorie for the workout burn result) and use the FB to see calories burned.

Thanks for all the great replies. Will take a good look at my sets on Monday when I start again for the week. Happy weekend!

Hi there, I have been gluten and dairy free for the past two years and also eat a paleo/whole foods diet. Actually, I tried to reincorporate dairy during the beginning part of my reset and THAT was a personal mistake. However, I do agree with other responders that the higher carb intake has been really helpful and I am…

No thoughts on the bench press but I can tell you that chinese food is killer for water retention! Sodium through the roof...take heart. I am right there with you with the scale gain, but I surely do enjoy eating more food than I was this summer (and prior)!

Thanks. I actually did email them and I think they are going to replace it! I only got to use it for 13 days and lost it in travel transit....maybe they felt bad for me?! I also ordered the FitBit bracelet--I can send it back if I get a replacement, but I wondered if the bracelet might work better. It says that it is…

Thanks. Maybe I will stick with the FB. And thank you for all of your hard work with the spreadsheet, etc and response to everyone....I use the spreadsheet a lot and I have been using that in conjunction with the FB (all I seem to be doing right now is gaining, but I assume progress will come when I start to cut). And I…

Thanks hey bales. Do you use either one? Or none? I really liked that I didn't have to put the FIt Bit on my arm. I really don't want to pay a monthly fee, so that was another reason for the Fit Bit.

I am up 8 pounds in four weeks. Really hard to sit with that number, plus the added snugness of clothes. But I am sticking with it. I keep thinking of the advice that it is weight that would eventually be put back on with other weight loss plans any way. Just do it now and hope when cut time comes that it will come off as…

We are pretty much in the same boat, so please add me! I am 48, have hypothyroid, take synthroid and cytomel, have stalled/gained weight slowly despite (or because of) salads and low carb that never did anything, and am peri-menopausal. I am 4 weeks into the re-feed and heavy lifting. I am gaining weight (up 6 pounds)…

Please add me as well. I am new to EM2WL via Half Size Me as well, and I have been on the journey for about 4 weeks. I am a 48 year old female (I just don't do online picture shots...hope that is ok!!) Amy

I looked at my FB today after my workout. I warmed up on the elliptical for 10 minutes, did 45 minutes of heavy lifting (during my rest period I did some easy plyometrics during about 50% of the 45 second rest periods, just to keep moving)...when I was done, the FB said I had completed 13 minutes of activity. It seemed to…
