  • I have a personal rule where if the sugar comes from a natural, raw fruit source (excluding processed fruits like canned fruit with syrups, jams, or fruit juices), I mentally half the sugar for my daily limit. I don't want to discourage myself from eating healthy, fiber-filled foods like fruits just because of the sugar…
  • Another possibility is plantar fasciitis, which is a pain you get on the bottom of your heel. It's worse in the morning after you get up, but gets better the more you walk. It can be caused by a number of things, but being overweight and poor footwear are the top causes. Also if you have a bone spur on your heel it can…
  • If you have the nutritional information from the back of the can/bag of the beans, you can create a recipe based on all the ingredients, and then divide it based on how much you ate. That's what I do with dishes I make, where I have no idea how else to figure out calories.
  • I have high cholesterol too, and my doctor suggested: * Reducing saturated fats, such as those found in butter and red meat. Use olive oil instead of butter, and try lean meats such as chicken. Fish is also very good. * More fiber! Leafy green vegetables, whole wheat breads and oatmeal are good. The more veggies, the…
  • Definitely see a doctor. No one here is going to be able to give you the help that only a doctor can provide. Not having a period for 8 months is a serious problem that presents many serious health dangers, and you are probably not getting enough nutrients. A doctor will certainly be able to help you! Please see one as…
  • I'm very sorry to hear you're in this situation :( I grew up with an abusive step-father, so I know how it is to have an awful, stressful, abusive home life that you feel like you can't escape. I was lucky enough to be able to move in with my biological father, but I know you may not have the option to move in with someone…
  • I agree, but there are some diabetics out there (like my father) who think that drinking junk, as long as it doesn't have real sugar, is okay for him. If the option isn't there, often he'll buy a full-sugar version because he wants that particular food or drink. Though if someone was diabetic and had a healthy diet and…
  • Ah, I see, thanks for the clarification! As long as it's labeled (cane sugar, HFCS, stevia, aspartame), then that's fine. As long as the consumer can see what's in the milk and decide based on that. Personally I don't consume aspartame because it gives me headaches and I try to avoid artificial sweeteners, but if someone…
  • Maybe I'm confused? From what I read in the original article: Isn't that what's happening? I'd like some clarification :(
  • By putting aspartame into milk and not labeling it in the ingredients list, they certainly are playing 'hide the aspartame'. If I buy honey and and the ingredients list says "honey," but the company actually put corn syrup in that honey (which does happen), I'm going to be upset because I am not getting what I thought I…
  • Ridiculous. If it's not dangerous, then why fight tooth and nail to avoid putting a label on the product? If people want to CHOOSE not to consume aspartame, that is their right. Companies shouldn't be allowed to sneak ingredients in without telling people, whether it's 'safe' or not.
  • Me too! I love bananas when they're still nice and firm and not as sweet. They get almost sickeningly sweet when they get ripe, and too squishy for me. Bananas are great! As with any fruit, the sugar is not something I worry about too much. You get enough fiber from the fruit, unlike, say, from a cupcake.
  • I'm so happy to have gotten so many great replies. Thank you all so much for your help! I entered all the ingredients into my recipes tab, so I can save it for future meals!
  • Oh! I didn't even realize there was a way to do that! Thank you so much :) I'm still discovering all the little ways to use this site!
  • I am by no means an expert, but the fat may be disappearing from other areas, and not just your waistline. You may be losing it from your thighs and arms quicker than your waist. It's great to hear you're down a full pants size!
