I have some Altra's that have been good running shoes for me. They were $120ish when I bought them but the single best thing that I've down for sore feet is going to a podiatrist and getting custom soles to put in my shoes. Hope that helps!

Yep. While I'm not where I want to be, squats and deadlifts are my favorites due to the movement/weights working the entire body. I can feel my core working out during the moves as well as see a noticeable difference in the mirror. I do Stronglifts 5x5 (stronglifts.com) as well and love the heavy lifting for results…

I'm not currently going through the same thing. But, I signed on to MFP to lose weight to get pregnant with my 2nd (she's 14 months now) and then throughout the pregnancy so as to keep the "I"m eating for 2 now" under control. :) Consistency has been hard for my but one of the things that will get you to your goal the…

Thanks, needed to hear this today! It all starts with one cheat cookie, one skipped workout and its harder to care thereafter for me. Happy Friday everyone!

AMEN! My thoughts are that there are so many reasons why we have such an obesity problem, it's almost impossible to narrow it down to just one thing. Yes, parents do a lot to encourage one type of eating or another. But, poverty is also a strong factor! I recently watched "Food Inc." that opened my eyes to this. A family…

Oh, I forgot to add. . . The mental illness issue . . . totally depends on what the mental illness is and what the genetic factors of it being passed on are. My sister had two babies die - 1 at 3 months and 1 at 3 hours - each due to different problems. My husband and I were afraid of the same/similar thing happening to us…

Actually, not every clinic/state requires a wife's "permission" before a vasectomy is performed (my husband and I just went through this in Washington state and my "permission" was not required). Whatever the case be for you OP, please ask your husband to not do anything permanent until you are both on the same page. If my…

There's a lot of good advice within the replies (expect the stop taking your meds and "find Jesus" BS. [Don't be hatin', just speaking my opinion as you gave yours]). Seems depression is on both sides. He respects you as little as your respect yourself. Don't be surprised that your relationship is this way - you allowed it…

Me too. Even as the words were slipping out, I regretted it so very much . . . "oh, how stupid I am!" I thought. Just made a fool out of myself and ruined her day! Karma got me later on though as I've also been on the other end of the horrid question . . . ugh!!

Hi! SAHM to a 3 year old (almost 4) boy and a 4 1/2 month old girl. I joined MFP to lose some weight prior to getting pregnant with my daughter and now needing to lose the pregnancy weight I gained from my son (kinda have it backwards, don't I?!?) Anyway, anyone may add me if you'd like. I've got an open diary and am…

Awesome! :drinker: I'm in week 2 of Insanity (my first round) and have been wondering if doing Insanity + another workout (haven't decided which one) would be too much . . . guess it just all depends on your fitness level, which is always changing, and/or how deeper you dig!
-
I'm almost done with week 2 of Insanity and I feel a difference - not just my endurance during the workout but my legs, arms, and core feel different, toned! Its great to have the confirmation when the scale/mirror don't show much difference if any.

My parents stayed together for 42 years "for the kids" (there were lots and lots of kids). I didn't realize how much my opinion of life/marriage was affected by their "sticking it out for the kids" until after I had been married (been married for 5 years now and still working hard to "fix" some things). They need to talk…

100% agree to this^^^! His life is changed permanently because of the child, not because of marriage.

I'm just about where you are . . . started MFP a couple years ago, lost 20 lbs and got pregnant with my #2. She was born last November and as soon as I got the okay from my doc (early January 2013) I've been back at it. I'm in my last week of C25K and then starting Insanity on March 18th. I'll send friend request. Shandih
