  • Hi, I sent you a friend request! I just started again and would love new friends! I do have weight goals, but mostly because losing 20-30 pounds would help me get over some chronic injuries and help me at my job! Rachel
  • On my 2nd week of stronglifts ad well! Thanks for asking the question, I had it too! I did have some crazy muscle soreness at first as well, and foam rolling right after lifting has been very helpful.
  • Hey everybody, I just bought a vivoactive (regular, not HR) and it should be here Wednesday. I don't know anybody who uses Garmin, so I would love some friends! Name is RGugs. Thanks! Rachel
  • I've worn a corset for 8-12 hours at a time working at a Renaissance Festival, and I wouldn't ever think to exercise in one. If it isn't too tight, walking would be fine, but they really constrict your breathing. If you try to do too much with a too tight corset, you can risk hyperventilating. Corsets also prevent you from…
  • Since I graduated college in 2010, I've been a naturalist, fisheries observer in Alaska, deckhand on a cruise ship, and back to fisheries observing. Goal this year: I'm tired of the compliance part of observing, and hoping to get a wildland firefighter job this summer. I'm not quite ready for a desk job yet!
  • They are less cute coming through your windshield. True story.

  • I always reward myself with travel! Actually, I travel whenever I have extra money, so not sure if that counts... My jumpstart to get healthy in 2013 was actually a 2 wee trip to Morocco to learn to surf!
  • Reindeer (aka Caribou) is a different species than whitetail deer, but reindeer sausage is yummy too. I eat it a lot when I'm in Alaska!

  • Just put 48 pounds total in the weight vest! Why does it feel so much heavier than my 45 pound nephew!? I can lift and swing him around all day! I strained a muscle in my neck sleeping funny, so taking down intensity for a few days. I've slept on rolling boats and on the ground or in my car for weeks at a time, but a bed…
  • I lost about 20 pounds doing Turbo Jam at home, and I miss it! I also did an army combatives class in college, and wish they could have let civilians go above level 1! I got my *kitten* kicked a lot as the only girl in class, but I learned a lot an was in much better shape at the end! Some day when I settle down from…
  • Somebody has their knickers in a twist!
  • I'd say grapefruit would be a better example! Boobs are a big pain in the *kitten*! :D
  • I'm 27 in the USA. Anybody feel free to add me! Rachel
  • If I have to, but I like to think after losing the weight and keeping it off for awhile, I would learn what is healthy to eat and what are proper portions. Hopefully some day I could just weigh myself regularly to keep on track! Logging during the holidays every year probably wouldn't hurt!
  • Protein staves off hunger longer than fat or carbohydrates. I don't follow a paleo diet, but after reading these studies I've looked up some paleo recipes. Some of them are a little involved, but there are also a lot of simple things to cook like steak or roast chicken. There is also evidence eating low fat dairy can help…
  • The walk went much better today with boots on! I know there aren't any proven benefits to wearing compression socks during workout, but also glad I wore them! Once I got past the first mile, I could have gone farther, but 3 miles was enough for tonight! I'll do 3 miles at speed Monday, and add more weight to the vest on…
  • I did great the first week, then got super busy with unexpected work and didn't work out at all the last 2 weeks! GRRR! My fitness test is in 4 weeks, so really kicking my self back into gear and going to hit it hard!
  • When I get to a fitness level I am comfortable with, I'd do nude poses for quick drawing artist classes. I wouldn't do it if some guy just walked up to me and asked, because that is creepy!
  • I download audiobooks from Audible for long drives, and one time I didn't finish my book on my drive, so I listened to the last of it on the treadmill, and I ended up walking 6 miles in just under 2 hours because it was so good I didn't want to stop listening until I finished it! I also watch 45 minute or hour long shows.…
  • It just snowed 12 inches tonight, so there really isn't much pavement to hit right now! :D I am going to work hard, but not injure myself doing it. Fire season doesn't start until April or May at the earliest, and I'll have other opportunities to take the fitness part before then if I'm not completely ready yet. I think I…
  • I had shin splints really bad in middle school, but can jog (slowly) now for a couple miles and I'm 50+ pounds heavier and 12 years older than I was then! Go really slow and read up on form and mix jogging with walking to build up your endurance and stamina. You can do it!
  • You all realize that if The Onion is a satire news website, right? It is a joke.
  • Yes, please! I can't stand trying to read "text speak", and if I see "yolo" one more time, I might punch somebody in the throat!
  • I tend to eat more salty things like fries and potato chips when I'm drinking sweet bubbly drinks.
  • I finished the 1st week of CLX, then life went crazy and I haven't done any exercise this week other than being on my feet for work all day. I'm trying to decide if I should just pick up at week 2 or start over on Monday.
  • I've done a lot of the Beachbody programs, and if you are really new to exercise P90, Slim in 6, or Turbo Jam would be great starters. Insanity had me almost throwing up when I started (didn't continue past a week!) and I liked Focus T25, but the plyometrics were still really rough, and I was kind of dreading it after the…
  • I lost 30 pounds doing Turbo Jam several years ago. I love the workouts, but am concentrating on Chalean Extreme and walking right now. I listen to an audio book while I walk on the treadmill every day. My work is seasonal, so I'm unemployed right now and have lots of free time to take up. My natural fast walk pace is…
  • You should pick one time of day to weigh yourself and stick with it. It is normal to see a 1-2+ pound increase in weight throughout the day. I weigh myself most every morning because it is easier to see a trend with more data points. Other people freak out about it. So long as the trend keeps going down, I don't worry too…
