Actually, I had recorded the show and I watched it last night and she didn't look as bad as I originally thought she did from the pictures. Yeah, she's skinny, but without knowing more, I can't say she's unhealthy.

I don't think anyone is "shaming" or judging Rachel. Speaking for myself, I am concerned, just the same as I would be concerned for anyone who was drastically overweight (including myself). I think obesity and anorexia are two sides of the same coin. In either case, there is a dysfunction regarding a person's relationship…

Ugh! So sad! I don't blame the biggest loser, though... They are a reality show. A television show. And they work to make good television. They are not responsible for what contestants do on their own. I think Rachel's family should have noticed something and gotten her some help. She's very close with her family and I'm…

This. I use DBs for most of the moves, and the ones I use the bar for could be done with DBs. If you're planning to go REALLY heavy, you may eventually need to get a bar, but I don't know if I'll ever get to that point.

Very cool report and congratulations on your success! How long were you at the resort and how much did you lose while there?

Make sure you're eating before you workout. Also, eat enough protein during the day, drink loads of water (before and during your workout) and do some nice relaxing stretches after your workout. That will help fuel your workouts and keep the soreness to a minimum. It doesn't matter that you didn't use weights the first…

That's fantastic! Thanks for the report! And congratulations!

LOVE this recipe! It's a great video, too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLl3YpJCbfA

I think it's actually meant to be done every day, but since I lift heavy 3 times a week, I'm just doing it on my lift days, so I can have a rest day in between.

Just finished my second day of Jillian and I can't believe I noticed a difference already! I only took 2 5-second breaks and was able to lift the weights higher for longer than the first day. Woo-Hoo! My husband did it Saturday after his run and Jill kicked his butt, too! LOL How's everyone doing?

I personally think YOU have the strength and wisdom you need to make this change. But if you feel that joining a group would help, then I would do that. Instead of "God", you can call on your "higher self" or "inner strength" for support. I don't believe abstinence works with food. I am an ex-smoker and it definitely works…

This is a copy of a post I wrote in the NROLFW group about Stage 1, which is 16 workouts. It assumes you want to workout on M-W-F: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1069910-confused-on-stage-1 Alternate Workouts A and B: Monday - Workout A Wednesday - Workout B Friday - Workout A Next Monday - Workout B Next…

LOL And you think getting snarky with me instead of addressing any perceived misconception the OP may have is a better choice? LOL You see, I thought stumblinthrul did a great job of correcting any misconception that may have existed. I saw no need to repeat it. Some of y'all seem to be just looking for drama. I'm sorry…

I started Friday, Nov 1. I'll be doing it 3 times a week. I also lift heavy on those days and need the rest days in between. I barely made it through the first workout and my abs have been sore for two days! LOL Love it!

I have already explained that I was responding to the OP and the statement, "I could have a great body eating pizza/chocolate/cakes etc", NOT the actual meaning of IIFYM, which sounds like jargon for a healthy, balanced diet.

The Toxic Truth about Gluten-free foods http://scdlifestyle.com/2012/04/the-toxic-truth-about-gluten-free-food-and-celiac-disease/ I am gluten intolerant and while I do have some Udi's bread now and then, I usually avoid processed foods that are gluten free. I'd rather just eat healthy foods that are naturally gluten-free.…

I agree with your post, but it didn't sound like the OP had the same idea as you do about IIFYM and I was responding to them and the statement, "I could have a great body eating pizza/chocolate/cakes etc". If I have calories left over and I've had enough protein for the day, I wouldn't hesitate to have some ice cream. I…

I'm sure you can lose weight if you meet your calories, regardless if it fits your macros or not. The problem I see is that one piece of pizza and one piece of cake might fit your macros AND calories for the day, but can you live on that? I'd rather "spend" my calories on healthier foods (as a general rule) and eat a lot…

I'm in! I had already decided to do this. I weighed Oct 31 and I'm not going to weigh for 30 days. I got addicted to the numbers and counting and chasing numbers was stressing me out! So I'm eating intuitively, not weighing and working out 3x per week (lifting and 30DS). So far, so good.

You look incredible! Way to go!

Your Dr. sounds old school and I wouldn't listen to a thing he says about diet! Medical doctors just want to throw pills at nearly every issue. Your post breaks my heart because it could have been me writing that! I had such a horrible relationship with food and dieting! It is VERY frustrating! But I want you to know there…

Congratulations! You're a huge inspiration! Well-done!

This site has a lot of videos about form on various exercises. http://www.building-muscle101.com/beginner-weight-lifting-routines.html And watching YouTube videos is a great idea! I learn a LOT from just searching for whatever exercises I am interested in. Good luck! Have a great time!

Alternate Workouts A and B: Monday - Workout A Wednesday - Workout B Friday - Workout A Next Monday - Workout B Next Wednesday - Workout A Next Friday - Workout B Do each workout 8 times (That's 16) Workout A consists of 5 exercises - Squat, Pushup, Seated Row, Step up, Prone Jackknife. Do both Squats sets one right after…

I made my own progress sheet in Excel, using the one in the book as a pattern. Then, I familiarized myself with the exercises in Workout A and didn't need to refer to the book. There are only 5 exercises. On the next lifting day, I familiarized myself with the exercises in Workout B. After that, I knew them by heart. I…

I just ran across her name in another thread and I'm LOVING her blog. Thanks for the tip. In the 12 days since I started eating intuitively and not weighing myself (plus a one week break from lifting) I gained 1/2 of a lb. I was also on vacation during that time and I did eat out a few times, so I think I did pretty good.…

Thanks for that... It's beautiful!

No way would I cut my fruits! If the sugar you're eating only comes from fruit, I wouldn't worry about going WAY over the limits of MFP. I avoid refined sugar and eat small amounts of honey and/or maple syrup for sweetener, but I eat all the fruit I want.

Everyone has a different starting point. I started in the 10-15 lbs dumbbell range, and they felt heavy! LOL I am still working up to the heavy weights, but compared to what I started with, I'm doing pretty well. I think it's important to start with what you can, strengthen your muscles and connective tissue and move up…

Times 10! This thread has excellent information that I needed this morning!
