  • A great prayer @SherryRueter. Hope your mom is improving. Lowest weight in over a year! So I have my daily 10k steps, no processed sweets, and lower calorie days to thank for that. I can’t say the latter is all discipline related, the hoarding just makes me not want to cook as much, so I’ll choose the protein shake rather…
  • Hi All. Doing okay nutrition and workout wise. I do find that being so close to the end of the year is keeping me disciplined. I don’t want to end it feeling disappointed or with a bunch of “wouldve, could’ve’ should’ve”s. More emotionally spent than anything. Dad’s hoarding isn’t call-the- Dept of Health state yet, but it…
  • @SherryRueter How is your mom?
  • Thanks @SherryRueter! This may sound hokey (sp?) but I’ve been most successful with my weight loss when I’m disciplined - no processed foods and 10k steps. But - the only times I had 110% discipline is when I had promised God something. You know - when you totally scared of some news or so happy you got good unexpected…
  • Wow @SherryRueter. I KNOW God wanted you to share this with me. After an update post, I rarely if ever check back in again. I’d wait til the next day or days later if I’m busy. Something told me to just check in - I had just sat down after driving my with my mom to pick up her meds and before I make her lunch which I will…
  • Hi All. Been away from a bit but on plan with nutrition and working out. I had a jump in the scale this morning after having succumbed to eating of my dad’s fried shrimp. I have found I am going up after eating fried foods. Ugh. This is his way of “thanking” me but it’s harmful to him and me. He’s a smart man but why oh…
  • Been on plan for several days. Lowest weight since August. Biggest factors I think - no processed sweets - not even a cookie or chip; tons of water; 10k daily steps at maxxing at 1200 calories. I’m not even craving sweets - which is great because there are 2 huge homemade cakes sitting in the kitchen to celebrate my moms…
  • Hi Pals! Travel over. Parents back at home. As chaotic as I find my parents’ home, it’s so nice to see how happy they are when they’re back. I confess “all in” turned into “all in my belly” - stress ate, road trip etc. I think I mentioned my dad’s turned into a hoarder and the house sucks the energy out of me - and I think…
  • Oh @SherryRueter - those words would scare me too. The last few days of Iron made me soooo sore! I’m hoping that’s why the scale has literally gone up .2lbs a day for the last few days. These last pounds are really really stubborn!!😡
  • Love the data and the pics @SherryRueter!! Soooo great! This week is a deload, doc appts, travel week for me so I will check in when I can. Doing well so far and I did about a third of Brian Kest (sp!). I like him!!
  • Thanks @SherryRueter for the balanced and sustainable approaches to my challenges! I tend to go too all out - so your approach makes sense. I will let you know about the yoga video - the day got away from me yesterday. But I was sooo proud of myself - even with the rest day I reached over 10k steps - even after being at…
  • Thanks for the link to the yoga video, @SherryRueter. And good timing - Thursdays are Girvan’s rest days so will give it a go. Was looking through my Happy Scale entries and tried to determine what was/were the secret ingredients to my successful weight loss (although I gained some back but most was muscle). I had…
  • Thanks for the feedback @SherryRueter. You’re echoing my thoughts exactly. I’m intrigued by Fuel because it’s harder than Iron (burpees, HIIT, faster paced meaning lower weights), but I’m also trying to be very aware of how much stress I’m putting my body through. I ain’t 30! 😩 I can do iron again, measure my strength…
  • Great job @SherryRueter! I’m planning to keep up my good streak as well. Finishing iron this week and just planning the next 12 weeks - either will do the 1) 6 week iron and again 2) the 12 week iron/fuel hybrid 3) the 6 week iron, kettlebell series for a week, then her 24 days of Christmas series! Have you done any of…
  • #ALL IN - love it! Gonna steal this mantra! It’s always strange to me that I KNOW WHAT TO DO! AND how awful I feel when i don’t! So why do I do what I know I shouldn’t do?! Any therapists out there?!?! 🤪🤪
  • @SherryRueter I’ve tried with macros but just can’t find a way to hit my protein goals (around 120). I hate cottage cheese, yogurt, etc so have to fill up with protein powders, bars, shakes. Not bad I guess but not great. Can your mom not live independently? I feel for you!
  • @SherryRueter - stop making sense, will ya!! 🤣🤣 You’re right - it’s avoidant behavior. I know I need to focus on what I’m eating eating eating!!! But since I feel I’m failing on that part I’m focusing on 2k vs 4K steps, lunges vs step ups - not where my focus should be. Okay - countdown to the holidays. Consistency.…
  • Wow @SherryRueter! 12k to 22k steps?!?! I have to work real hard to get 10k! Finishing up iron next week and then 12 weeks to Christmas. Wondering to do Fuel, then Beast Mode or kettlebell, then 24 days to Christmas. Week off here and there OR The iron/fuel combo - 12 weeks. What would you do??
  • @SherryRueter - you have trouble reaching 10k steps daily or your exercise? I have an Apple Watch and trying to see how to use challenges if you’re up for one!!
  • Thanks for the inspiration, @SherryRueter. I needed that kick! I can dwell too much on my lifting reps, tempo, sets etc - and while that’s important - it’s nutrition, nutrition, NUTRITION!!! Great job! Congrats!! 👏👏👏👏👏
  • I understand @SherryRueter! The feelings can be so scary and overwhelming. What I try to do is to dwell on the times brought G-d brought my mother through difficult health challenges and dwell on the supernatural things G-d can do - not what my natural brain is telling me. Do you just have a feeling or is this something…
  • Sorry to hear about your tear, Sherry! Hopefully you’ll get some helpful suggestions. You will be laying off any weight training tho, right?!?! And thanks to you all for the coaching information. I’m sure it will help but then I think how can “eat less, move more” be so hard - even if I’m not perfect daily?!?! Ugh! I’m…
  • Have any of you ever used a coach to reach your fitness goals? Would you - if $ wasn’t a factor? Wondering if it could help but also wondering that if I know what I need to do, I should be able to just do it. But alas I don’t - at least long enough to reach my goals. Life does get in the way but maybe if I put out $$ I’d…
  • Hi Pals. Been dealing with some side effects of mom’s new meds so haven’t posted in a while. Finishing up week 3 of iron and staying consistent. Staying pretty much consistent on nutrition, too - not as many rollercoaster days and trying very very very VERY hard to bring my faith into my fitness habits/goals - using Bible…
  • Good question @justgirl81. I can’t seem to answer that but unlike most of the world (exaggerating??) I was at my lightest weight and healthiest during that Covid period. I THINK i felt like like I be just in case any of my family members caught it, did not go out to eat, and stuck at home when I discovered Caroline Girvan…
  • Sorry to hear about your mom @SherryRueter. Such a struggle. Tired. Tired. Tired. Up and down. Read something interesting. Too long but in short it was a way to look as forward to your nutritional habits and routine as you do your workouts. Without that - it’s hard to sustain and a life of struggle. Will read when my head…
  • @justgirl81Thanka for the gaba recommendation. Will look into that. Unfortunately, my personal experiences with those care facilities haven’t been the best. The facilities have given great tours, orientations, start off great - but become more complacent. Family members needed to be constantly present to ensure their loved…
  • Congrats on the progress of decreasing the cigars, justgirl81! Happy with my weight loss trend. Slow but making better choices regardless of stress. Yes, @SherryRueter - the anxiety is strong. It comes at night when I rethink the day about what I could’ve done better. Guilt - when I realize I could’ve done something but…
  • Good luck on your doc visit @SherryRueter! What’s so perplexing and confounding is when the docs say to my parents “stop doing x, it’s causing y - which is not good for you” - their response usually “what do they know” - even when the lab results support the doc conclusions. Whacha gonna do?!!’ Feeling pretty ok. Few more…
  • @SherryRueter. The post took my breath away. I am probably the most blessed woman in the world. Thank you for offering me this new insight and perspective when all I was ready to do this morning was be worried, stressed, frustrated, and glum. 🙏🏽❤️
