Hi @justgirl81. It’s not easy at all to balance it. With the caregiving I have to grab what time I can. Most of the time it gets done by the end of the day but not the same times every day. So the afternoon nap for my parents is when I grab time for my workout - that could be any time between 1-4pm. Then after 6 I try to…

Wonderful news about your mom. Cool here in NC too. My dad did much better in his cognitive test so the dementia meds seem to be working. At least he hasn’t gotten worse. Interesting questions why stumled him. He finally answered but spelling “world” backwards seemed completely forget ro him. 3 pounds away from my goal…

Thanks for the kind words and prayers, @SherryRueter. I hope the Lord has a sense of humor. I joke sometimes when I get to heaven I hope He has the equivalent of heavenly office hours where we get some time to ask some questions - all beginning with “Why”. Thank you for saying I was appointed to this role. It makes me feel…

Yep! Eldercare for both parents. It’s harder with my dad - he wants to believe all is well so will blame, deflect, onto others - “I never said that”, “you did it”, “you heard wrong” etc. I’ve been praying for strength, compassion and grace as I know it all comes from fear. So sorry to hear about the pain. It’s physical and…

I hear ya! Retail therapy. I’ve been out of my home for months and will be for more months as my home is being renovated. So I’m decorating from afar and I’m sure making the hubs anxious - because my downfall is furniture! I use to think day by day but it really is minute to minute!

Hi @justgirl81! I’m doing ok. I hadn’t realized I was gone for so long. I had finally reached my goal weight of 115 and then stress overcame me. I’m still under 120 - which was my goal but my ultimate goal was 115. My dad’s cognitive ability been slipping and even as I type he’s saying something to me I don’t understand.…

@SherryRueter Wow! It makes sense why you needed a break! Sorry to hear about your back pain and your brother. Glad to hear your mom is doing well and I’ll send up a 🙏🏽 for you all. I’ve been away for a while as well - dealing with a new issue - my dad’s declining cognitive issues so caregiving x2 for me! As the young(er)…

@SherryRueter Welcome back!

Hi!!! Happy to be back!!
-
oh my! How is everyone? Has it been this long since I posted! Challenging summer!
-
Started back with Girvan after a 2 week hiatus. Pleasantly surprised that no strength was lost and it felt great to lift. My problem has always been being consistent! If only!!!
-
@justgirl81 - how’s the dating scene going? Bad week last week. Stress. But back at it!
-
I’ve been the same weight for weeks. I’m sure it’s been because I’ve been so sedentary. This killer heat has kept me inside. But we’re enjoying a cooler period - so starting to get in my 10pm steps! Hope it works! How are ya @justgirl81?
-
hi @justgirl81. I was posting in the summer thread! Glad to see you’re still around! I don’t think it’s unchristian to be angry. We’re human. We are given grace. I think being immersed in anger is something we need to work on but don’t let feeling human emotions make you think you’re any less Christian than anyone else.

wow. Didn’t realize I hadn’t posted in a while! 6 pounds down since my dads birthday! Boy oh boy - the stress! But I’m finally in the teens!!! If I can lose these last 5 pounds I’d be a happy camper!
-
truth! I need to get past my dad’s birthday today. Usually I would give myself permission to go “all out” but I won’t. I’ll order what I want but dial in my portion sizes. Caroline Girvan leg day today!

@justgirl81 how is the coconut and olive oil working?

whoa! Can’t believe it’s been so long since I’ve posted. The prep to leave for my reunion, Memorial Day, prepping the house for the renovation, traveling - ugh. My back on track. I’ll see what damage was done tomorrow. I had a great time, so whatever the scale says won’t matter! And yes, @justgirl81 - we all have to live…

Thank you for sharing that, @justgirl81. Yes, he is a hoarder. To him, it’s his life belongings, they reflect a well-lived life, with each object holding some sentimental value. And that would be fine if it didn’t create what I think are safety issues. His take - I’m being petty - I can easily move a table out the way,…
-
Love that first @justgirl81. Thank you for sharing it. Keep sending positive vibes and thoughts! I’m stuck in my anger dealing with my dad and it’s serving no one except feeding my pride. Living with a hoarder is hard - always seems like selfishness with no consideration how it affects others when I know intellectually…

We WILL destroy them! But I will admit these pounds wouldn’t be as stubborn if I controlled my mouth better. So to help me I will ponder on the following:
-
A few weeks to my reunion so buckling down! My niece found “yasso” bars. They’re low calories Greek yogurt ice cream bars that I love. That will help with my sweet tooth. 1.8 pounds to go!🙏🙏
-
2 pounds away from my goal weight! For months. I just have to be more disciplined!!! I’d ideally like to reach it by Labor Day but definitely my birthday!
-
For all of us

Hang in there and try not to stress @justgril81. Not sure of your age but the recent passings of folks I knew were relatively young under 65 but led very stressful lives. No one saw it coming. Just a reminder what stress can do the body besides the fitness issue folks talk about - raised cortisol, belly fat - etc.…
