Strong first post.

This post is evidence that the Fix doesn't actually teach a person how dietary consumption affects weight. Learning the principals of CICO and how to eat accordingly on the other hand does. And does so at no cost.

I tried reading through this and gave up. I'll just add, I like the hypothesis that thicker skin makes one look less jiggly.
-
Running a bulk cycle does not equal adding "a bunch of fat". Any calorie surplus that adds muscle mass will also add some fat, but it doesn't have to be a "bunch".

Don't waste money on that which can be better acheived for free. And don't post the same topic in multiple forums.

I second scooby's calculator. It's my go to.

Why did you select a program that is inconsistent with what you feel you need to do? My advice.....use MFP for free, log your eating correctly, lose weight, be happy, and keep some money in your bank account.

Fat doesn't convert to muscle

I wonder how many other dudes just tried to confirm this.......

You quoted a doctor who focuses on weight loss, with a quote about adequate protein consumption while losing weight in an argument about bulking. "Anyone wanting to lose weight should therefore realize that however restrictive the diet, it should never supply the body with less than 1 gram of protein per day for every 2…

What is the upper threshhold for protein consumption that one can consume and still benefit from? After that threshhold is met, where should the remaining calories come from? And why?

I see I wandered into the bb.com misc chat by mistake. Y'all have fun in here.

What is your goal? If you are just looking to drop weight, just watching your calorie deficit will do that. If you are concerned about preserving muscle mass in the process, watching your macros is a good idea (protein specifically)

To get enough calories in a bulk, I am going to assume most people will benefit most from added carbs, which adds to the argument that carbs are more important when bulking so long as your protein and fats are met. I'll use my own math as an example. At 5'9" and 165, I gain weight at 2800-3000 calories per day based on my…

All da musclez bro!!!

Noting your inconsistencies is not rude, you were not very clear in describing the different calorie adjustments. That could very well confuse a new person. I stand by my assessment that 3-4 days is an insufficient amount of time to reassess calorie adjustments. An incremental decrease should not be a flat number (500,…

Lil' bitta nope in your post. The amount of muscle which would need to be gained to burn a significant amount of fat is pretty big. How are you so sure you're building muscle while in a deficit? As you said, it's hard for a woman to build muscle... especially in a deficit. What is lean muscle? Is there fatty muscle too?…

I read something recently that suggested the same based on a study released in 2013. I'll see if I can dig it up.
-
Agreed. If you truly are under your TDEE calories you will lose weight. If you aren't, then your calorie goal or your method of tracking is wrong. Its usually the latter.
-
3-4 days is not enough time to assess if a calorie adjustment is doing anything. 500 calorie increments is absolutely not a slow decreasing progression. 2 drops and you have reduced calories by 1000. And right above that you mention 250 increments. Inconsistent info leads to questionable advice.

Kudos for reading that far. I stopped reading on account of the earlier ridiculousness and didn't catch that awesomeness.

Sorry, I see you edited your post while I was responding. :)

Just to emphasize a point here, it's not an either/or question. All roads lead to CICO. Low carb, like any other choice, only works within the confines of CICO. You don't have to count calories to be in a caloric deficit, but CICO happens regardless.
-
With regard to the bolded, I would restate that as "low carb works for lots of people as a way of maintaining a caloric deficit". Picking the one you can stick with doesn't matter if CI is not less than CO.
