Thanks for the kind words! MFP gives me 1570 calories a day and I add 250 for breastfeeding. I've set my weight loss goal at 0.5lb a week. I like the idea of focusing on fat and protein because they provide the most "satisfaction". I rarely eat meat, so it seems impossible to avoid carbs! For protein I eat a lot of dairy,…

Jericho Freaks and Geeks for sure ;-)

I was 220lbs when I got engaged. I had 18 months to slim down for my wedding and lost 86lbs!

Thank you so much to everyone for the encouraging and supportive words. It's a big change from the comments I received when the proposal video was played on our local news site. People commented on the article saying things like "at least she'll keep him warm" and "lumber Jill". :-( thank you again for your kindness :-)

Why are you so offended that I started this thread? I was just looking for friendly discussion...
-
Yes, you understand! It was "out of character" for the show not to explain something and I figure it's either because they can't explain it or there is some underlying illness Colin didn't want us to know about...
-
Well normally the show explains things very well. About calories, and how both diets (too much food and too little food) are dangerous and damaging to the body. They didn't really offer any explanation about Colin so I just wanted to see what other people thought. Is Colin a special snowflake? I didn't think about how his…

I've seen quite a few episodes of this show and know that they have a pattern. When they show what each person eats normally during the week, they'll say something like "so all in all, she is under eating by 4 days worth a week!" or "he is over eating by 5 days each week!" They didn't do that with Colin, because according…

I understand IIFYM. You can eat what you like as long as you meet your macros (protein, carb and fat) goals. This guys clearly is not meeting his macros goals. I would assume with all the chocolate he consumes, he'd be way over in carbs and fat and extremely low in protein. How does not meeting your macros goals explain…

That kind of goes along with the only explanation I could come with; he must burn a lot of calories daily to be that thin on 2600 average calories a day. They haven't gone into what he does for a job or how he spends most of his time, so it's all guess work. Thanks for playing along! I'm not looking for "special…

Yes, you get what I'm looking for. And your first explanation is an interesting one. Could be possible. And yes, it's reality TV so who knows? Haha
-
It's in the video link I posted. Take a peek. Just go to 8:50 (about) and see the guy I'm talking about.
-
I don't understand what that has to do with my post.... I'm confused as to how a guy eating more than he "should" is severely underweight. The program explains that it's because he eats mostly chocolate. How does IIFYM explain him being underweight?

Thanks for the support and encouragement! I remember reading so many success stories on here and wishing I could have one of my own. It's simply taken time and dedication. You know that fitness quote, "A year from now, you'll wish you had started today"? So true :)

Congrats on your weight loss so far! I know what you mean. I've lost over 65lbs from my heaviest and sometimes when I look in the mirror, I see the same person I was when I was a lot heavier :-/ I think your mind has a lot to do with that. We need to learn to love and accept ourselves <3

I'm proud of you! That really is a big accomplishment. That is coming from someone who used to feel powerless over cravings. I know exactly how you feel; when you finally realize that you DO have control :) Keep up the good choices

Woah! Thank you for this recipe (the first one...honestly it looked so good I didn't even check out the second link). I cannot wait to try this. I LOVE Snickers. Probably my favorite candy bar :-P If anyone else tries it before I get the chance to acquire all the ingredients, please fill us in on how it turned out :)

I'm getting married June 21, 2014. I'm 5'4 and looking to be around 135 by then. I started trying to lose weight right after he proposed and I'm down 50lbs. I have about 34 lbs left to lose. I'm also doing NROL4W. I would love some more bride to be friends or NROL friends :-)
-
Bride to be here! I joined this site to help me slim down before my big day; June 21!! I am about halfway to my goal. Feel free to add me. It would be fun to have other "bride-to-be" friends :)

Fellow Bride-to-be here! My wedding date is June 21st 2014. I'm about halfway to where I want to be. Feel free to add me!

I made these with the gingersnap cookies and added cinnamon to the batter. I was only able to fill 11 muffin cups so the calories were a little higher, but right around 100. I keep them in my freezer and take them out 10 minutes before I want to eat them. They are delicious! I encourage all cheesecake lovers to try them :)

I tend to crave sweets right after dinner. I think it's due to years of regular dessert...Not such a good habit. Now I drink a cup of mint tea sweetened with stevia after dinner if I really want sweets. It's similar to brushing your teeth right after a meal so that you have a mint flavor in your mouth which diminishes that…

For me it's kettle cooked potato chips and Cheese-its. I can't just stop at a reasonable portion....I do not buy those at all anymore

What? OMG. Chocolate almond milk tastes so good to me. Tastes just like chocolate milk or room temperate hot chocolate. Do you not like those, either? [/quote] Yeah, I was really surprised when I first tried chocolate almond milk (try the Blue Diamond one). It is very sweet and not really low cal at 120 cal per cup.

I thought that I should credit the site I got the idea from: http://www.fitsugar.com/Vegan-Fudgsicles-Strawberries-24285106 Beautiful pictures there :)

The chocolate milk mixed with the ground cashews makes for a very creamy and fudgy bar. Have you ever tried Chocolate Almond milk? It's very creamy and decadent!
-
Interesting...I will check it out. Thanks.

You definitely do not need all that to be successful with MFP. I didn't have any of it to begin with and saw the scale moving down without all that stuff. I find that the accessories motivate me and make me very excited about this weight loss journey. I love exercising with my HRM and trying to keep my heart rate in the…

Yes, I'm thinking a fitbit might be in my future (once I save up some more money!) and possibly some new clothes. I really like my current work clothes, so those will be hard to let go of. A belt however will extend their life a bit. I've already lost a pant size! It's not enough to make my pants fall down, but enough to…

Hello fellow-brides-to-be! I am one as well. I am getting married in June 2014 and looking to lose about 60 lbs. I don't think I can realistically reach my goal by the wedding, but hopefully I'll be slimmer, firmer, healthier and happier! Feel free to add me and we can support each other. Congrats on your engagements by…
