  • I have been on Ideal Protein for about 3 weeks now. I was happy I didn't feel sluggish as a result of giving up the carbs--mainly because I am not having peaks and valleys anymore. I however, am a strong believer in eating whole foods to lose weight. I have been giving into the cravings too much so hoping this program will…
  • I would also suggest eating more for the amount you are working out. MFP blogged an article yesterday about eating back calories. http://blog.myfitnesspal.com/ask-the-dietitian-should-i-eat-back-my-exercise-calories/ Personally, I struggle with drinking my calories. I would always recommend whole foods over drinks, but I…
  • Funny because I have found food is such a sensitive thing for people. I know a few vegetarians and raw vegans who juice for days. I also know a few people on the weight loss journey who are not eating in healthy ways but rather using fad "programs" of shakes and processed "diet" food. People seem so defensive of their…
  • Depends on what cals you are aiming for and how much you are exercising/burning. If you are saving your calories for a big dinner you will be hungry through the day. What is working for me is spreading it out more evenly through the day. Breakfast 300, Snack 200, Lunch 300-400, Snack 200, Dinner 300-400, and evening snack…

  • I have been using the Jawbone Up and I plug it into my phone to sync it, but the Up 24 syncs wirelessly. It does sync with MFP and MFP syncs to the Up software so I am seeing my calories in both places. I love mine! Seeing the sleep and activity as well as the daily messages are really keeping me going. The fact that the…
  • I looked at your diary and this poster is right. Too many calories and I would add too much processed food. Processed food is high in sodium which will cause water retention. But you need more of a deficit in your caloric intake.
  • Yes loose the batteries!!! lol
  • The doctor I am working with on my weight loss mentioned a woman can also gain 5 to 15 lbs with her menstrual cycle. Changes day to day are to be expected. Don't weigh yourself daily as it will frustrate you and sabotage your efforts. Health should be your first goal the weight a nice by product. Keep doing what you are…
  • Food addiction can be as difficult to deal with as any other depending on how you are thinking about your situation. Good for you for reaching out for advice. While I have a food addiction with ice cream, I have figured out out to fit it into my day with all of the healthy things I need to have. Your first step is to take…
  • That is a great quote! I will have to use that. I too lost close to 60 (but I wasn't keeping good records then) but then quit smoking and had a baby and 5 years later I am starting back from the beginning. MFP and making mindful choices will hopefully be the foundation to long term success. Good for you for coming back!
  • Thank you for bravely sharing your story. You will inspire some and perhaps enlighten some others. Every person has a story and people need to be careful not to judge without taking the time to understand. With your health in hand, there is plenty of time to enjoy life. We all bloom at different times in our lives. This is…
  • I was trying to determine my ideal protein intake and found this calculation. 1. Weight in pounds divided by 2.2 = weight in kg 2. Weight in kg x 0.8-1.8 gm/kg = protein gm The top end seemed high and the bottom end seemed low, so I averaged it which still seemed high but gave me a target.
  • [/quote] "Do you weigh your food? Even if you eat the same thing everyday, if you aren't weighing your food it is highly possible that your consuming more than you think. If you have been doing the same routine for 2 years, than it is probably time to change up your workout routine. Our bodies get more efficient at…
  • Same thing, but MFP is flagging that to few calories will be a problem. As another poster said, this is over time and not based on one or two days. MFP is a system intended for millions of people and cannot substitute for sound medical advice given we all have differing bodies and needs.
  • Congrats on quitting smoking! That is the biggest and best accomplishment. I quit 5 years ago and also started gaining, for many the substitution is food. In the book by Allen Carr he says we don't gain weight because we quit smoke but because we start eating. Why did you start your weight loss journey? Get your head back…
  • I briefly looked at your diary. One observation I would make is to perhaps try moving to more clean eat and more whole foods. I noticed that some of your meals consist of quick to go items that are generally low calorie, but my have higher sodium and lots of additional chemicals that your body doesn't need. You are doing…
