I am getting married this summer, and while I am continuing to strive to be more healthy with my eating and moving habits that I had started before getting engaged, I'm trying not to get too caught up in worrying about how I will look in pictures. Whenever I am tempted to try to start a super restrictive plan, or beat…

I think the general rule of thumb is that you should start to notice a difference at about 10% loss. But make sure to do all your metrics with some kind of regularity (weigh, measure, take pictures) and celebrate the small victories and milestones along the way! Your pants may still be tight when you notice an inch off on…

So sorry for your loss - it is a thing that should never happen. I only know the two facts you put down, so of course you should start with a doctor. That being said I was just speaking with someone else about grief, this person also lost an immediate family member, and he's been living with that for some years now. He…

When I read need2exerc1se's first post I read it as "accepting morbid obesity for yourself is not a loving way to treat your body, so it seems incongruous when someone welcomes that state and says they love themselves." Like, for need2exerc1se that looks like someone maybe kicking their dog and saying to you "I love this…

Would like to add - when you find the right bra and start running - pay attention to your form. A lot of new runners tend to lean forward - almost like trying to fall forward instead of running lol. I found out pretty quickly with my 34 ddd's this is a recipe for low back ache, but if you focus on good posture while you…

Ew yeah I agree I'm the third type of person - who would never consider beans and eggs as a combination

Sort of. I decided I wanted to run a mile, so every time I went out I would run a mile, broken up by as many walking breaks as I needed - I don't remember but I would believe some of the running spurts would be as short as 0.1 miles and then I would just do ten of those with recovery walks in between. Eventually the…

Can I just say I love how you put "size: leggings" - hilarious! I'm with you on that one :) You're cute at all your sizes - but go after what you want! You got this.

I get those days randomly - like I'll be doing fine with my intake and then all the sudden it's not enough. However - I noticed right after that I get "the whoosh" - a sudden drop of like 2-3 pounds. I started thinking of those days as my body having a last ditch effort to hold on to the weight. This is different than pms…

I keep it simple by importing steps from the iPhone. I set my activity as sedentary that way I feel I can eat all those calories I get from steps - whether it's from a busy day at work, running/walking intervals, what have you. I don't take speed into account, steps only. Works for me - I've been doing this just over a…

They say you start noticing at 10% loss - that seems about right to me from what I remember. When I was starting off until I could see results I just imagined the loss was visceral fat - the kind that is stored around your vital organs. You wouldn't really notice a difference in your appearance but you are way healthier…

I found something that helped me was knowing and reminding myself that a craving is temporary. Like when you want a cigarette you think the only thing that will make that feeling go away is having one, but actually time will make it go away too. So I just needed to remind myself of that and ride it out. It helps if you…

I lost 5 human heads and a chihuahua. Ew. Lol
-
That sounds like a great trip! Jealous :)

What about picking up an activity together as well? My honey and I like to hike and bike together - there's lots of room for indulging on a Saturday if there's also a 5 mile hike!

I'm not there yet, but I do read these threads occasionally so I can plan ahead. I sometimes see people in maintenance who say they still log, but their goal is to have their weekly intake be on target as opposed to daily. That way you can have more leeway for going over some days or under others according to your hunger,…

We toss our broccoli in olive oil and some herbs and spices and put in the broiler for 10-12 minutes - they come out a little crispy - we call them broccoli pop'ems lol - yummy! You can broil the chicken the exact same way and it comes out really moist. Got any frozen veggies? Maybe throw some peas in with your rice and…

Whoops it cut off the end somehow. Anyways I told my doc about the wheezing and he gave me an rx for an inhaler, which made the whole thing so much more doable and enjoyable. I completed c25k and kept running - about a year later I outran the inhaler - I no longer use it! I enjoy it more with each run. 5 years ago I never…

Omg I really love this advice and will def put it to use :) C25K success here as well. I also realized that I had some exercise induced asthma through the process - my lungs would burn and I had an audible wheeze. I thought at first I would try to run through it, but passers by would be concerned, stopping me to see if I…

47 lbs down here over the past year, and still going strong - very flexible diet :) I keep my net calories at a deficit, eat back what my iPhone step counter gives me, and the only macro I concern myself with is getting enough protein. Flexible exercise plan as well - moving my body makes me feel great, and many days I do…

Omg I literally just finished a bowl of boo berry for bedtime snack :) mm yummy.... Can't agree with you on Cap'n Crunch sorry - cuts up the roof of my mouth. I'm a delicate flower lol ;)

My younger sister went thru the same thing, and finally she felt so close to hurting herself she was moved to speak up about it. We got her some help - she had to take a semester off college to take care of herself, but she got back on track and graduated and with treatment has left the depression behind, and now knows…

I read a lot about running high - some people swear by it. So I have tried it a couple times myself. It's cool for a long run but not a fast run. The only thing is I have to smoke like the second before I walk out the door - sneakers tied and everything - otherwise I get too distracted getting ready and go off on a tangent…

I'm looking forward to being lighter than my boyfriend - feels like the way it should be. Actually I recently kind of hit this goal but he's been saying he'd like to drop 10lbs so I won't feel securely smaller til I drop 10 more too to stay ahead of him lol.

Just want to add in, my mother is the sweetest ever, but I was in your daughter's same situation, and her gentle urging me to watch my intake literally only resulted in secret binging. The teenage years are when you push away from your parents to establish your own personality - more rules lead to more pushing. I didn't…

I went down to a size medium in scrubs from our scrub-x machine at work from a large! The pants are a little snug but not in a stuffed sausage way, more in a "you can kind of tell I have a cute butt" way :) (lol)

Idk when I give a compliment it's not with the subtext of "this thing about you has pleased me. Good job" - it's more like "you are my friend and I would love to boost your day with a sentence that is true" Telling you you are pretty/funny/smart etc is not feedback on the job you're doing, just a nice thing I'd like to do…
-
I would also add - best thing to start off with is weigh, take pictures, and measure yourself. That way in a month when you are sure none of your hard work is paying off, at least one of those things will prove you wrong :) A lot of us are slow to see change in ourselves, and often it doesn't show up first where you most…

Listen to her. It's true we there are different paths to our different hearts - but most of us drop clues ;)

I am away at my boyfriend's colleague's vacation home for the weekend - I paddle boarded and waterskiied! I never paddle boarded before and last time I waterskiied was like 20 years ago. Last summer with forty more pounds I never would have tried - worse balance and strength was making me lose my confidence. I feel like my…
