Nice work! I've always lost weight on my own - running, lifting weights and controlling calories. No classes or personal trainers. It's just easier when I go it on my own (for me). Good to see other people are succeeding on their own!

I eat anything as long as I can measure it, unless I know I'm in danger of entering in a binging frenzy then I try to keep away from junk food. That's only due to my psychology.

I seem to work well with recording/moderation. I am yet to successfully try clean/exclusion dieting but I can understand how that could work for someone. If you can stick to 'healthy' or low calorie foods you probably could manage your weight without having to track your intake because you'd be within your calorie limit…

Never bother with the front of the packaging. Just go off the nutritional information on the back. If it fits your needs and goals then that's all that matters. Even if there were added sugar I believe it doesn't matter, as long as the nutritional profile of the food is what you're after.

It does seem like you'd be fighting an up hill battle. Do you have a strategy to convince people that buying used gym clothes is not gross? That's where I think you'd need to focus your attention. Address the biggest hurdle in people's minds with clever ads and marketing.

Good to hear mate!

Thanks guys. I'll try starting with my hips a little lower to help with flattening my back. With looking down, a few of the instructional videos I've seen on youtube say to keep your head and gaze down. Are you saying that I should look up (like into the mirror) or still keep the gaze down only a little bit higher than my…

2 weeks is around the time it takes for me to get back into the obsession. If you've never been into exercising it might take longer for you. Another reason for you 'lacking motivation' might be that you've not found the exercise that you like. For me, personally I don't like group exercise classes. I like working out on…

Woowoo! Nice work!

Yeah mate it's all in your head. And if someone does have snide thoughts about you running, screw those bozos. Lock out the world and zone out, that's what running is all about! I run pretty slow, even after a few years of running. People over take me all the time and sometimes I feel a little down that I still can't run…

Ban the term "New Years Resolutioners" - get off your high horse and let people at least try to get started. So what if they waited until the new year? People complain about the NYRs because they want to subtly point out that they are good all year around.

Consider it a test of your mettle! The first world is full of food and you will come across lots of temptation and you need to be equipped to handle it.

Pretty girl before and after :)

I've tried to compromise the stronglifts programme and it's just not worth the hassle. Do SL if you have the equipment otherwise just look for a programme that uses what you have.
-
I wouldn't have another cheat day until the next scheduled one. Let a little loose but don't go crazy. Enjoy yourself :)

Read up on Stronglifts and get a few PT sessions. Doing the exercises correctly are so important for your safety and for being able to progress. Don't be scared of what other people think, either. I am going to go the gym today and I am restarting my programme (Stronglifts) so I'll be lifting and empty bar for all of my…

One of these days someone will do the experiment of two groups at the same calorie amount, one group with junk food and the other group with 'healthy' food.

Any anal bleeding should mean a visit to the doctor. Bowel cancer is a killer. The 'redder' the blood the closer to the *kitten* in the tract the bleeding is. Usually the doctors will worry more if the bleeding occurs further up the digestive tract. My GP sent me to get a colonoscopy, which didn't find the issue with the…

crisb2: Take the chicken out of that and you're right. That amount of chicken, here in Australia, will cost $20 alone. You can switch this breakfast and lunch: Breakfast: quick oats with milk and brown sugar. 750g of quick oats is 75c from coles, milk and sugar is cheap too. You'll get way less that $2.50 per breakfast.…

I feel like every time someone asks 'is food X bad for you?' that I need to ask them what their diet philosophy is. If you're low carb or you subscribe to the 'sweet poison' idea then it's bad. If you are IIFYM then the answer is no, unless you have no calories left in the day.
-
I do. I like high resolution data hehe. I just make sure I don't freak out if the number goes up from one day to the next. How ever if the number keeps going up 3 days in a row then I know I need to analyse my habits.

And it's perfectly find to slow down the progression, especially the OHP. That's always the first to fail on for me.

I do Stronglifts 5x5. I've been doing it for years only because I'm slack and end up stopping my exercising regime every few months. By the time I get back into it I have to start again because I've let all my strength evapourate. SL5x5 is all about building a beginner's strength quickly. Once you get to a certain point in…

Sure. I have always had a suspicion that naturally thin people just eat less than 'naturally fat' people like me. That they're idea of a lot is my idea of not much at all. I always challenge my naturally thin friends to come to a buffet with me and eat plate for plate to see when they can no longer eat. But in this case…

I agree, just up the calories and see if it makes a difference.

Your estimates might be under because the estimation formulas are only generally effective. I suggest getting your metabolism measured at a clinic. The DEXA scan will give you an accurate estimate but also give you other data bout your body like a summary if your body composition, which is handy. It's always good to see if…

Unless you have a condition white bread isn't necessarily bad. But when I track my calories and try to organise my day's food to be under my calorie goals I do notice that I eat less bread, pasta and rice. These food are fine but they do have more calories than you think. So you end up naturally eating less of them because…

I can understand giving up a food if it's for psychological reasons. If you're an all or nothing person and you just can't get enough chocolate and it's causing you to blow out your calorie targets every day then swearing off chocolate will probably help you stick to your goals more than just trying to regulate the amount…
