If you have 75+ lbs to lose 2 lbs/week is ideal
If you have 40-75 lbs to lose 1.5 lbs/week is ideal
If you have 25-40 lbs to lose 1 lbs/week is ideal
If you have 15 -25 lbs to lose 0.5 to 1.0 lbs/week is ideal
If you have less than 15 lbs to lose 0.5 lbs/week is ideal

When people call foods bad; there's no bad foods, just foods you shouldn't eat a ton of at once.

"I'm giving up XXX food..." Especially bothers me when it's nutritious staples such as potatoes and rice, which have sustained world populations for millennia. FYI--Calorie for calorie, potatoes contain more vitamins and minerals and fiber than a banana?

First world problems, I guess to have the luxury of turning up a nose at such foods. (DISCLAIMER--Of course, those with insulin resistance or diabetes, of COURSE you've got a legit reason to watch those carb numbers. I'm not talking about you folks. Just general food demonization based on Pinterest and stuff.)

I can understand giving up a food if it's for psychological reasons. If you're an all or nothing person and you just can't get enough chocolate and it's causing you to blow out your calorie targets every day then swearing off chocolate will probably help you stick to your goals more than just trying to regulate the amount of chocolate you eat.

People who think lead and hydrogen weigh the same.

    Oh yes.

'you're eating 1200 and gaining weight, maybe you're building muscle'
'if you do strength training, you won't get any loose skin' LIES LIES LIES
    'I eat clean'
    'you should skip breakfast'
    'you should stop eating carbs'
    'I can't loose weight'
    'I can't eat 1200 calories, I'm too full'
    'cleanse'

Why do I read these forums again?

Also when people say that significant others that don't want their partners to lose weight are just insecure. It couldn't possibly be that they actually prefer the way their SO looks at that weight, right?

Starvation mode irks me. I have a small stomach from surgery and am lucky if I eat 1200 calories a day. I could get 1200 if I ate the foods that got me into this mess but I have chosen to limit the cookies and crap I was eating. So it buggs me to see people say that 1200 isnt enough. For me it truly is enough...

    Truth.

I almost started commenting on one just because the topic sounded great (but the first post was so full of gibberish I let it be).
