  • maybe try with decaf or an herbal tea -or- just drink coconut milk? avocado & olives are also great sources of quick fats.
  • I haven't done Whole30, and I think I fluctuate with keto...my carbs can go as low as 25g or as high up as 100g (I weigh in at 116, and usually I don't go further than 20% carbs, except for the every now and then binge). My first thoughts are fat levels. I go through endometriosis and it's painful flare-ups. When my fat…
  • Even before getting into Primal/Paleo, I was always pretty careful with Halloween, especially when my daughter was so young. I never did agree with the unlimited pounds of candy that was collected during Trick or Treating (that would take over a year to consume, or get thrown away lol). What I use to do (my daughter is 19…
  • you are very welcome! =) I can't promise they are all great, since I just recently downloaded Kindle on PC...but they are free! xD Some in the multi bundle packs might be repeats of some singles books. I figure at the very worst, it gives us a chance to see if we'd like a hard copy of certain books.
  • you're very welcome. What I do love about yoga....as long as you just do your best, there will be improvement. So, don't worry about stretching or bending as far as the instructor...just do as far as you can go. Each time gets better, and you will notice your body able to do more and more. =)
  • Are you able to do stretching or yoga exercises? If so, maybe go with that. When I feel really sore, I just do either stretching or yoga, and it really does help. Otherwise, taking a rest day is good too...or doing slower pace walking.
  • So far, I've done the 2 cardio workouts in HHA. --Fat Burning Cardio and Cardio Groove. I really liked them! Shaun T is easier to follow in HHA than Rockin' Body...and the program seems more thorough and better thought out. He is a great motivator. =) @littlesprite1 - How are you liking Insanity and Pump? I have been…
  • I seriously can't take any prescription birth control or hormones...the side effects are just too many, and my body doesn't like it. I can't take any foods or herbals with even phytoestrogens either. Yet, I did decide to explore further, and I tried a natural progesterone balance crème called Kokoro. It uses bio-identical…
  • I'm using a program called P90X which is like having a gym at home, yet requires minimal equipment...and I'm able to work out in a small space. You can use either dumbbells and chin-up/pull up bar or weight resistance bands. I'm using the resistance bands and love it. The program is well balanced with focused strength…
  • The cocoa adds 5 g of carbs and coconut sugar adds in 4 g carbs...according to MFP (as you know, they round up all too often). lol If you like a milk chocolate taste, then you could probably get away with using 3/4 to 1 TBS of cocoa powder. Too, I'm using Ghirardelli at the moment. I still need to replace that with an…
  • Hi Ali, I am only in week 2 atm, but I am pretty much the same size (I'm 5'2" at 119 lb.). Currently, I am eating roughly 1400 -1500 calories, and it seems to be doing fine. The suggested caloric intake for me through P90X was 1800, and that put me in Nutrition Level I plan. --I just thought that was too much for me, since…
  • I went into P90X, in week 2 now....and I'm loving it. Tony Horton is awesome too. =) I did end up ordering Hip Hop Abs for my daughter, since she's wanting to start working out too...looks like I'll be doing that along with P90X. It should be fun, since I feel I'm missing just a touch more cardio. The Rockin' Body, I gave…
  • I eat very low carb (usually under 25% & usually no grains), higher protein and fat (follow more of a clean and primal type diet)...and haven't noticed any difference in the way my skin smells. Personally, I'd get some pH testing strips...and see if my pH is off balance. --this won't be 100% proof, but it can help as an…
  • I just drink green tea in the mornings. I didn't think it would work at first, since I loved my coffee and usually had my green tea during the days. For me, it does just fine, and I drink less green tea than I did coffee. I know coffee has more caffeine than green tea, but I am satisfied. I never used sugar/sweetener in my…
  • I've tried something very similar, to check what my trigger foods are for both endo and arthritis. For me the "stay away foods" are... gluten and most grains corn (and all derivatives of) MSG soy (especially non-fermented) food dyes table salt (I use only French gray & Himalayan pink sea salts now) non-organic beef (I can…
  • I haven't gotten too far below 20-25% carbs yet (those being mostly veggies & fruit), so I can't claim 100% Primal or Paleo yet. With that in mind, I rarely use sugar though. Most things I sweeten with fruit. Once I stopped soda, junk food & prepackaged sweets, I really didn't crave "sugar". An easy fruit source is natural…
  • damn, now I want fat bombs...you all are making me hungry lol
  • You (and anyone here) can add me too. I'm more Primal (I eat dairy; especially cheese and yogurt) and still learning along the way. Most of my diet is very clean (about 80-90%)...and working on making it 100% clean/Primal eating. --I'd say "Paleo", but since I eat dairy (and most likely won't give up cheese). I also on…
  • In my home, we also prepare/cook for our Siberian Huskies. The funny thing is, they eat very Paleo/Primal with their only "junk food" being The Honest Kitchen (dehydrated foods & the ones without grains) and a holistic kibble (which is fed like a snack only on occasion, like their version of 'chips' or 'popcorn'). So, for…
  • Currently my caloric intake is 1350 (which includes my deficit for slow fat loss/lean muscle gain). I am currently doing a light Beachbody program (almost done), which is preparing me for P90X (by then, my caloric intake will be roughly 1500 calories with P90X adjustments). I will start P90X in about 3 days. They generally…
  • Oooh, thank you all for the info. =) Yeah, I was talking percentages on macros. I definitely feel good keeping my carbs at 25% or even lower, when I can go lower (but my carbs are pretty much all fresh fruits & veggies...I eat lots of kale & fresh veggies...and sometimes from my dairy, and occasional legumes, nuts, seeds…
  • I take fish oil & magnesium too and either use fresh ginger or essential oil of ginger...it does seem to help as well. I have nerve pain with my endometriosis too. The nerve pain is the worst. I try to also use cayenne pepper & cumin in foods to help give a little extra anti-inflammatory properties.
  • my diary is open too, but I am more newbie Primal (I do use dairy and sometimes nuts, legumes & seeds) hybrid with atkins/SBD/Mediteranian/holistic and currently, I do take supplements and health/protein shakes. I'm aiming for more primal and eating cleaner. I try to keep my macros at 50 protein/ 25 carb./25 fat while…
  • I'm doing something similar, but not exactly Paleo. I pretty much stay away from grains and definitely stay away from gluten. For fats, I'm getting mine mainly from organic EV coconut oil, but also from fish, EVOO (only used unheated) & avocado. I'm a little bit on the fence when it come to animal fats...if it was easier…
  • Height: 5'2" CW: 122 GW: 108-112 (whichever gets me to a healthy low fat, high muscle tone weight)
  • I take MSM, Turmeric & organic Aloe juice for everyday arthritic pain, but during flare-ups of higher pain I may also include Nettle leaf, Olive leaf and even Feverfew. Nettle and Olive leaf are for many things, but also do well with inflammation. For when I need something for nerve and muscle pains (endometriosis), then I…
  • The main idea I go with is I try to fit in my High Protein as #1 (I do get protein shakes for pre and post workouts, I get about 45-55 g protein each shake, & I make sure the carbs and fat are LOW or almost non-existent), and source my other proteins from fish, lean meats/poultry and cottage cheese mainly. I stay away from…
  • I should be getting my Greenberry Shakeology delivered today.
  • I'm getting through my 2nd week now, it's still fun, but I'm not feeling it in my abs as much as I had hoped. It's still a great cardio with some strength added in there. I really like Shawn T (even though he is a bit goofy in RB)...he's very motivating & shows the moves well. I definitely feel my workouts in my legs &…
  • My staples are generally... lots of fresh vegetables, fruits and berries Organic extra virgin coconut oil Fish (not from Asia or the Pacific coast of the US/Canada, when possible, to avoid antibiotics -China mainly and avoiding higher nuclear/petroleum waste levels) Poultry (usually breast meat, w/o hormones) Bison &…
