  • I second those who have suggested breaking your goals into smaller pieces. I realize the first 29 pounds is part of a larger weightloss plan, but what are your other goals? If everything feels like it's too much, can you decide what is your top priority right now? You don't have to accomplish everything on your list, but…
  • You are looking fantastic, and your pride in your accomplishment shows! Well done.
  • That must have been a great feeling! Congrats.
  • Wow! Congratulations on the remarkable results of your hard work. You look fantastic.
  • After a late night, I dragged my sorry carcass out of bed and and went to a 8:45 AM step aerobics class. The best part is that the instructor approached me after it was all over and complimented me on how well I did today. She runs a tough class that is heavily choreographed, and I'm thrilled that I can keep up now. It's…
  • Mashed sweet potatoes, mashed (really) cooked cauliflower, smoothies galore. I'm also a big fan of the scrambled egg.

  • Congratulations on your fabulous changes! Thank you for sharing your tenacity.
  • I'm 32, married but down a uterus so all our kids are currently furry. We have a cat and a dog of our own, plus we're a foster home for Second Chance Animal Rescue Society (SCARS) and usually have a canine houseguest who is waiting for her forever family. I am always looking for more supportive friends. Please feel welcome…
  • I'm always looking for new friends who take the "everything in moderation" approach. Feel welcome to add me. I have at least another 35 pounds to go, but it's coming off well so far.
  • My 9:30 AM step class is usually 45 minutes cardio, 15 strength, 15 stretching. Today the instructor was ambitious and did a full 60 minutes cardio--and I kept up! My initial nsv for today was getting up and going to cardio class despite a bad sleep; little did I know I'd get to feel good about doing an extra long workout.
  • I celebrated Canada Day by doing a hilly walk through the river valley, just shy of 13 km, with my dog. Two months ago, I would never have survived 2 hours of brisk walking, but today I feel really good. Even better: I wore running shorts for the walk, which finally fit well enough that I'll wear them in public. I chose to…
  • Congratulations on your remarkable success! You look wonderful. Sincere condolences on the loss of your baby. It's inspiring that you are doing so much to take care of yourself now.
  • Geneen Roth has a fantastic book about bingeing called something like If You're Going to Eat at the Refrigerator, Pull Up a Chair. It deals with a lot of those being "good" versus being "bad" feelings. It was really helpful for me in seeing what I was really wanting when I overate. I also found it helpful in bringing more…
  • I am a bridesmaid for my brother's wedding in August, and the dress was far from fitting when it arrived six weeks ago. I couldn't even get the sides of the zipper together. Tonight, it zipped up smoothly and fits without a lump or bump anywhere. Since it's chiffon and strapless, that's really saying something. I've been…
  • Depending on where you are, you may be able to borrow fitness DVDs from your local public library. Many libraries include video rentals with your membership, so it's probably worth checking out to see if they have any Zumba. Good luck!
  • I have more like 40 lbs left to lose, but I am highly motivated. Two bridesmaid dresses for August that won't quite zip up (yet) can do that to a person. I'm absolutely looking for other motivated ladies to help me keep my momentum going. Please feel welcome to add me.
  • Please feel welcome to add me. I am looking for friends who believe in the "everything in moderation" approach and are focused on health.
  • Thank you for this. I was feeling bad about setting my pounds per week to 1 from 1.5. I wasn't losing much at the more aggressive setting, but I started dropping slowly and steadily when I upped my calories. Plus I get a little more food now, so the whole thing feels less restrictive and more appropriate for a long-term…
  • I have PCOS and was miserable on the medications from my regular family doctor. I started seeing a naturopath in December 2013 and have made some lifestyle changes based on her advice. I only take the supplements (2) she recommended for me and will be transitioning off those soon as they have done what they were meant to.…
  • My favourite for motivation in general, which I've more recently started applying to fitness: "I am here for a purpose, and that purpose is to grow into a mountain, not to shrink into a grain of sand. Henceforth, I will apply all my efforts to become the highest mountain of all, and I will strain my potential until it…
  • I do my best to track, although I allow myself to go over if there is something to eat that really speaks to me. I do try to eat more of the veggies and bring soda water with limes to keep me out of the pop. I also get a good workout in before I go to give me a little more wiggle room. I feel like I need to track…
  • Congratulations on taking care of your health and looking so fantastic! You are an inspiration.
  • Well done! You look fantastic. Thanks for the boost I needed today: the scale IS a liar!
  • I love when the clothes tell you how well you're doing! Congratulations on your success.

  • Confession: Used this thread for motivation during my run on the elliptical tonight. Thanks all for looking so fabulous and kick-starting my workout. Congratulations on your accomplishments!
  • I just bought 34 Degrees whole grain crisps. I expected a cracker, but these are lighter and super delicious. I had them last night with with cheddar shaved on the carrot peeler. Absolutely deadly and really satisfying.
  • I only eat homemade pizza, so yes, I weigh that but do it an ingredient at a time as I'm building it. That said, I have yet to take my scale and/or measuring cups to a restaurant, so weighing things "on the go" seems like overkill to me. There are times it's appropriate to estimate as well as possible and let it go at that.
  • What a difference in such a short time! Congratulations on your success.
  • Edmonton! Prairie girl and proud of it.
  • I would find out from the dress store exactly how far the dress can be taken in. Depending on the fit and where the seams are, a dress may be able to be taken in one to four sizes. Some styles (corset back for example) can be adjusted for fit without tailoring. Once you know exactly what you're working with, you can make…
