The irony of a link to a blog-post at the bottom entitled "What not to say to someone with an eating disorder"...I mentally added "after you have given them one with the advice is THIS post."

I absolutely love these noodles :) Pasta is my weakness and even though these aren't an exact match, they do the job! I think the people who had bad experiences just didn't rinse or heat the noodles for long enough, or failed to adjust the recipe for sauces etc to account for the different flavour/texture of the noodles. I…

Without diet changes I used to find it MUCH easier to lose weight working in a cinema, as a waitress and in pubs then I have since switching to a desk job and studying. I try to get up and wander around, especially on the phone and if I just have reading to do, sitting still all day is horrible.

I've cut down on alcohol for a while just because of calories, I also find it hard to have just one and also chips go so well with beer.... But I am cutting it out completely for a month for the Macmillan Cancer Research "Go Sober for October" campaign. I doubt it will impact my weight loss too much as I was usually within…

Sherry - One of the thing I have found keeps me going is making my Food Diary open (mine is public but you can make it friends only) so that I knew EVERYTHING I logged could be seen by my friends and anyone else who looked. I have found this a great way to make me think about everything I eat, I know it may not be for…

I've had MFP for around 3 weeks now, and I am loving the few friends I have made and all the chat/support/motivations/congratulations but I do think the MFP is set up quite badly for the social stuff, especially the newsfeed. You get an email to say someone has commented but I don't usually have my emails open when…

That's exactly what I was thinking!! My friends (naysayers) are always saying "oh, if you lose weight now you are 30 you will look old and haggard" but damn!!! You guys all look like you stepped on a time machine as well as a treadmill :drinker:

Weekly, on a Sunday morning. I like to be able to keep track but daily would make my obsessive side come out. I chose Sunday morning as Friday and Saturday nights are my 'danger' times when I am likely to say "Sod this, I want pizza and wine" so having the prospect of a weigh in on Sunday keeps me on the straight and…

Wow, just got in from training...week three is a massive step up in effort from the last 2 weeks!

I am just about to start Week Three on the 5K training, I used to run a fair bit but a knee injury last year put me right off. I love horror stories so this seemed like the perfect way to ease back into it!! I even went and did the last session the morning after a night on the wine, usually i wuld have stayed in bed and…

Such an interesting and really useful post, thanks :)

Hi, I'm in the same boat...30 years old, have come to the end of my postgraduate study with 20 unwanted pounds! Have lost 5 in the last 2 weeks through MFP and cardio, but really want to get in tiptop shape and take strength training more seriously. I love cooking and am enjoying the challenge of making healthier choices…

Hi, I was told I had a fatty liver a few years ago when I was having abdominal scans for a stomach condition. I was severely underweight but the junk I was eating when I could eat was all clogging up my poor liver. I have since had surgery, gained too much weight and am now trying to get back on track with a healthy diet…

5'8" SW: 12st 1lb Size 12/14 CW: 11st 9lbs Size 12

This is how I feel, I feel more motivated to make the better choices if theoretically everyone can see when I don't!
-
I'm also 5'8" and in the 160's....so this is really interesting. Think I might have to find out my Fat percentage now too.

Unfortunately this is a quite common issue and not restricted to success on the scales. I had the same when I went to University and a friend who also wanted to go but wasn't willing to take access courses like I had started getting really angry with me if I ever mentioned anything to do with my course. I felt awful about…

I've just ordered '30 Day Shred' and can't wait for it to arrive. Have also decided to make my food diary public for a while, I'm hoping that knowing EVERYONE can theoretically see EVERYTHING will keep me on track. I haven't started the 5:2 yet as just wanted a week to get used to the lower calories and exercise to see how…

Hi, thanks for your replies! Can you tell me the name of the strength training app? I have got some light weights but end up just sort of messing around rather than actually training.
