Me too, I seem to be pretty hard on my shoes. I definitely notice a difference when I get the new pair.

Probably the 15K Shamrock Run on St. Patrick's day. Did it last year - was a lot of fun. :drinker:

I'm probably just a chicken, but I think I'd move inside to a treadmill / track. :embarassed:

When it gets cold, the things that bug me the most are my hands. I wear gloves. Quite often take them off part way through the run after I've had a chance to warm up.

Congratulations! :drinker: Now you just need to get over that cough/cold so you can start training for the next one.

Me too! [Go Pack!!]

Congratulations! Great time. :drinker: I'm sure you'll find that your time improves as you get more mileage under your belt, which is part of the fun of racing. I started just over a year ago. My first 5K time was 31:30.

I like both Star Trek and Dr. Who. Started watching Dr Who about 40 years ago. :glasses: Tom Baker was my favorite Doctor.

I'd say, play it by ear. Certainly make sure that you hydrate well leading up to the race but a mouthful of water en route helps cool me down, too. I'd try to forget that idea about stopping "cheapening" the effort. If you stop for 20 to 30 seconds a couple of times during a 5 mile race I don't think it diminishes the…

I think the hardest part is sticking with it long enough to get to the point where it's fun. The first three or four weeks of C25K can be pretty tough, but once you're through that it gets a lot better. Good luck!

Wow, Joolie!! Talk about cutting it fine! I'm glad you made it in time to register. Congrats!! :drinker:

Try running outside and try signing up for a 5K race. Having a race to prepare for helps you focus and it is a lot of fun running with other people. I love the atmosphere before and after a race, it's really cool!

Congratulations on your great work so far! I agree with the rest of the posters that you should try running outside as soon as you can. You will probably find it hard to begin with, but try to relax and enjoy it. A lot of the issues, at least in my experience, are mental. I find running outside much more fun than the…
