Transfer the money you would have spent to a savings account, then at the end of the month buy something to treat yourself - new outfit, mani/pedi, new book, whatever floats your boat.

In addition to what the others have said, remember that your body is recovering not only from birth, but also from pregnancy. Growing a new person takes a lot of nutrient stores from your body, and breastfeeding only continues that process. I have found that I feel best post partum when I eat lots of nutrient dense foods…

My misfit shine 2 does all of those except hrm.

When they released an app update a while back the negative calorie method stopped working on it. It still works if you look at your diary in the browser, just not on the app. That said, I just set my calorie goal to maintenance and let breastfeeding be my deficit.

I grew up in the NY metro but moved away when I married my husband.

My youngest is 3.5 months. I've been back at this for 2 months and I've lost 17lbs. I'm back to my pre-pregnancy weight. I'd like to lose another 20lbs.

I buy produce that's in season, which is almost always cheaper. If I have to have something that's not in season, I buy frozen. Non-produce things I buy store brand. The only name brand things I'm picky about are mayonnaise and ketchup. I also make my own salad dressings and desserts, which is much cheaper. Also, you're…

Yes absolutely. You risk losing your supply if you don't.

Once you start to log your food, you will learn what foods you eat have more calories than they're worth. By that I mean they take up a fair amount of your daily calories and you don't enjoy them that much. Personally, I find that juice is not worth it to me. It has a lot of calories and I don't mind drinking water…

Look into the Brewer Pregnancy Diet. It will give you an idea of the nutrients you need and how to get them from whole foods.

I'm focusing a lot on heavy lifting, so I know I may weigh more as I build muscle. For that reason my goal is not a weight, but to fit size 6 pants/dresses.

Get properly fitted for a bra at a local shop, Nordstrom, or Dillard's. Wearing the wrong size bra is what causes the roll. Do not get fitted at Victoria's Secret.

You're wearing the wrong size bra. This video shows you how to properly size yourself. youtu.be/8Jk55ep4XUQ

What HRM do you use? I wear my Polar FT4 in the water. Double check your manual.

No, fruit is not bad. As long as everything you eat fits within your calorie allowance you will lose weight. Yes, fruit has sugar. The good thing about the sugar in fruit is that it's contained within fiber, so your body has to digest the fiber first, before it gets to the sugar. The prevents the high and crash that you…

Sounds like bad shoes.

2350 after exercise and breastfeeding, which puts me at a 750 deficit.

Try a heavy lifting program, like stronglifts. Doing that while eating at maintenance will build muscle in your problem areas, and the muscle will in turn burn the fat you're looking to get rid of. The fitness board has lots of great advice and before/after for heavy lifting programs.

I focus more on my daily calories, but in use my weekly totals to adjust for days I know I'll go over my daily amount - parties, date nights, etc.
-
I don't count spices. If I get to the end of the day and I have some calories left, I sometimes make a snack I've logged before that I know is within the cals I have left and never bother logging it because I know it fits. I don't use any alternative sweeteners or diet soda.

I eat lots of protein and try to only go over my calories a little ;)

I've found that most home scales are I like that, so I don't have one anymore. I weigh myself at the gym once a week. They have a medical-grade scale that gets balanced regularly, plus it keeps me from obsessing over every ounce in variability.

When you set up your profile, how much did you say you were looking to lose per week? That loss is built into your calorie goal. If you meet your calorie goal (1200, in your case) you should lose that amount each week without doing anything extra. If you run a mile and burn those 199 calories, you can eat another 190…

You might be able to make an argument for neglect, but I too think that the leap to abuse is untenable. I am responsible for what my children eat. I am responsible for bringing healthy food into our home, preparing it, teaching them how to prepare it, shop for it, budget for it, etc. This is one of my duties as a parent.…

He's 11 months old. This past week I was on vacation and didn't log anything, just ate what I felt like and he slept through the night every night.

Hi! I have two kiddos - 3yo and 11mo. I've been nursing continuously since the first was born. Ive lost the pregnancy weight, but I have a ways to go to my goal weight yet.

I am working with a HRM. That's actually how I'm able to run at all. I was barely able to run 1/4 mile before. Once I got my HRM I realized that I was going too fast, leading me to have to stop. Hence my running so slowly now. At 4.5 MPH on the treadmill I'm at the top of my target heart rate range, but the other day I was…

Thanks for the info! My training plan is from the site PP mentioned, and it is for a tri, not for running alone. I have no problem with the swim, I was a competitive swimmer for 15 years and I've done open water races before. I am focusing on getting my running and cycling in order. Thankfully, race registration doesn't…

On it's own. I haven't run a full 5K yet though, just 1 mile. I haven't had the opportunity to combine the two yet.

I don't drink anything but water regularly. If I'm done eating for the day but I have some calories left I'll have chocolate milk, or if we go out to eat I'll have a soda, wine, or beer. I notice I crave sweets when I'm not drinking enough, so I'll always drink a bunch and then wait 15 mins or so to see if the craving…
