I'm an older woman too, (and in my healthy weight range, and you are also close to your healthy weight range for your height), so keep in mind that we do lose much slower than we used to. The daily fluctuations of water weight can actually mask your fat loss and be discouraging. MFP told me that at 1200 cals. a day I would…

It's a great group! I lurk more than post but I love reading it.

I went through a very short peri-menopause between the ages of 46 to 49, which only included feelings of being too warm for the temperature and minor hot flashes. My last period happened at 49 and I was still 112 lbs. for years after (my weight since my late 30's), so I thought I had gotten away with menopausal symptoms…

Three C-sections in the vertical position (my first C-section was in 1974, when they did the up and down one). This was taken at age 49 with my youngest son who was in the air force at the time. This was in 2001, so I am a lot older now and my stomach does not look like this anymore, but it was age, not the C-sections.…

I think the women who aren't aging well tend to skip reunions, the men don't care and show up anyway. By the 40th everyone shows up and no one expects anyone to look good so it's a surprise when they do, and yes, the women tend to look better than the guys.

I've lost 5 of the 10 lbs. I was shooting for, but it's SO hard for me to lose and keep it off. I honestly lose about 1 1/2 lbs. per month, so I'm going to set a goal of those last stubborn 5 lbs. by September 1st, even though there are two vacations in that time period.

I've only been to Europe twice, but both times, I ate well (and drank!) and came back the same weight as I left. I swear their food is better - GMO's, hormones and pesticides are not allowed there, and their wine doesn't have sulfites (here, they are actually REQUIRED), plus you are moving so much with sight seeing, etc.…

I love fruit and eat lots but I stay away from bananas, they are especially high in carbs and calories for a fruit. All berries are lower in both and so yummy. But my favorite fruit of the moment are cherries, about 5 calories each, and 10 is a perfect serving for me, so about half the calories/carbs of a banana.

I was going to suggest these! Best fitting and most comfortable panties I have ever worn. They have lots of stretch and when they're on you don't feel them at all. I love their little sports type bras too, but I don't think they would work for women who are generously endowed.

Yeah it could be early menopause, but why wouldn't a doctor have checked this? Absence of period for any reason leads to bone loss, it's not a "benign" condition. A doctor should have checked your hormone levels and your bone density. Early menopause comes with a higher risk of osteoporosis and heart disease, it's not…

LOL, made me laugh...

OK this is scary. I never went to a car dealership, but I MENTIONED it here, and now there's a Audi commercial on top and a Mazda one on the bottom, there really are bots noticing our words.

If you are a gadget person a Fitbit might inspire you to move more. I like my Fitbit One, which costs more than the zip, but it has a rechargeable battery (I charge only about once every two weeks or so) and more features than the zip. I like the step counting, the flights of stairs (and it counts every 10 feet up as a…

Just go browse some store internet sites, clothing and home goods; go to booking.com and other places for a dream vacation (even if you know it really is only a dream), make sure to check flights to get there; browse books on Amazon, shoes on DSW. You will get lots of clothing, home goods, hotel, airline, book and shoe…

I was going to say pretty much what Reese just said. You should change your attitude about maintenance. It isn't a "diet", you are not depriving yourself for the rest of your life, if you view it this way you will never continue! It is what you CHOOSE. Say some affirmations every day - I choose to eat healthy, I choose to…

You will totally crush that reunion. By that number reunion (and mine is coming up) so many people have gained weight, not that I revel in it, just that sometimes it's like Karma, and funny to see.

I just tried this recipe and it's very low in calories, if you like custard and coffee. Combine 1 1/2 cups unsweetened almond milk (45 cals.) and two large eggs (160 cals.) Beat together with whisk, add 2 tsps. instant coffee and artificial sweetener to taste (for 4 servings, keep that in mind when adding sweetener) and…

If you're drinking it all day try half of that. Then try cutting back slowly on cream/sugar, or switching to a lower calorie version of it. I use sugar free flavored creamers but even that can add up if you make coffee light. I have two mugs every morning and have cut the creamer so my coffee is still somewhat "dark", and…

Hi. I saw an invitation to this group on the general diet and weight loss thread on MFP and came over to browse. I am blown away by the stories here and the fabulous weight losses I am seeing. The truth for me is that, except for after pregnancy, I have rarely been out of my healthy weight range, but am always struggling…

What used to take care of lumps and bumps was a $2.50 pair of control top panty hose. It was "all in one" and made for a smoother silhouette. That's about the most the new "compression" type things can do - smooth it all out. Somewhere along the line it became gauche to wear pantyhose, we were supposed to be bare legged or…

I don't know if you have time now, but you could have packed a healthy sandwich, or a couple of hard boiled eggs and/or cheese sticks, something with protein. I know I hate the bloated, yucky feeling I get when I go to bed with a full stomach too.

If you can, you should hire a trainer to start you off. They can assess your form and make sure you are doing it correctly, as well as give you a good beginner routine. Once you have that routine you can increase the weight yourself as you get stronger. Also, once you know how to assess your own form, you can move on to…

welcome Anna! I'm new too, finished two weeks of phase one on Sat. and am in first week of phase two. Phase two is easy for me once I get into it and I have stopped cravings with phase one. I have lost 3.8 in phase one, I wanted to lose 10 so 6.2 to go, which I know will be very slow, but that's OK.

Growing wild, not being used because it's poisonous unless crushed into flour? LOL... before agriculture, wheat was not eaten in any form. We didn't know how to use it.

You've got plenty of carbs there in your fruits, juice, veggies and sweet potato. I'll bet if you logged it all you would have as many carb grams as protein, if not more. Yes, you have no grains, and your hankering for them could be more psychological than true carb deprivation. But if you yearn for grains, eat them, you…

Yeah when I say low carb, it really isn't that low, I eat beans and yogurt and veggies and now fruit that all has carbs. I like my protein and carb grams to be about even when I track (the reccomendation is to have double or triple the carb grams to protein). I have a question - do either of you track your food on MFP? I…

Which brings up another topic - the main message boards, they are ALL about CICO (calories in/calories out) and how anything else is total nonsense and a myth. Hoards will attack anyone who suggests that keeping their carbs down helps them lose weight better; they constantly claim if you eat 1200 cals. a day in ice cream…

LOL @ "phase 1.5". Is that, like, phase one with very limited servings of fruit/wholegrains? Honestly, that's how I should eat all the time, when the carbs get away from me I do a slow gain no matter how low the calories are. I can actually eat a lot of calories in maintenance if my extra calories are nuts, avocados, nut…

Years ago I used a book called "Look great sleeveless". It has lots and lots of weight lifting tips and routines, especially for arms. You can certainly do them at home with weights, don't need a gym. Here's a link to the book on Amazon. http://amazon.com/Look-Great-Sleeveless-Beautiful-Shoulders/dp/B000J3EGL2

So I'm on phase 2 now, and it's been and will still be an awful week of a lot of eating out! My first day of phase 2, went out with hubby and had way more calories than usual, kept to low carb at least, and day after weighed only .4 more than the day before. Ate lunch out yesterday, and will be doing birthday lunches with…
