If you are happy to take it slow and steady then you have the opportunity to just try it and see. If you haven't lost in two weeks at 2000 calories, try 1850 as suggested. You can play around with the numbers and see what works for you. All calculators for NEAT and TDEE are just estimates as everyones calorie needs are…

How many calories are in them? I would imagine that replacing whole meals with a shake would drastically reduce calories.

I got a nutribullet last year and my favourite is frozen chocolate and berry smoothie. I always try and mix some kind of veg or salad in too. I use 200ml of chocolate almond milk. Handful of spinach couple of handfuls of frozen berries. I like strawberry, cherries and raspberries. If I am low on protein that day I would…

If you are going to add fat to your diet then it's a good choice, but make sure you count the calories in it as it's easy to go overboard, especially if making bullet proof coffees with it. You can use it to replace other oils in cooking, but again, count those calories. I also like to use it as lipbalm and sometimes as a…

Hi Kev, welcome. A Yorkshire lass here :) Good luck with your fitness journey :)

Just jump right to eating better, logging calories and moving more. You can do low carb, cabbage soup, all kinds of "clenses" etc. But if it's something that isn't sustainable then it would likely be water weight lost in the first week which would just go back on anyway once eating. Lots of people do have a bigger loss at…

My best tip is distraction. I'll find something to do. I'm in to crafts so will start making something. Or go for a walk or paint my nails. If after an hour or so I still want to eat my arm then I am probably genuinely hungry and will just try and make the most of the calories I have spare. Something protein heavy if…

I just tell people portion control, exercise and not quite so much chocolate and junk food. If people are genuinely interested and want advise I will take the time to tell them, but you can usually tell pretty quickly those who will really listen and be interested in your journey and those who just want to hear a story…

Fantastic results, well done :)

Fantastic work. well done xx

What did the doctor say? Did he/she think your daughter needed to gain weight?
-
Well done, sounds like you are doing great! Keep up the good work. Keep taking photos and comparing to your unflattering photo to keep yourself motivated. And remember, even if you have a little blip, that's all it is! Just forget it and move on, no more yoyo :)

Most people would lose bigger at the start, at 22 stone losing 16lb in 12 days does not sound dangerous to me. As you mentioned, the difficulty will be her maintaining motivation when it slows down. However that applies to us all, whether we have 150lb or 15lb to lose.

Feel free to add me, lots of fab fellow geeks on my friends list :)

I generally just make sure I have the calories for ice cream. But I invested in an ice cream maker so I can make lower calorie ice cream. A week back I threw in an orange muller light yoghurt (with chocolate sprinkles) in to the ice cream maker and it was gorgeous! only 100 calories.

For me personally my tips would be log everything, and weigh everything. Don't guess on the weights of things like potatoes, rice, cereal etc. I bought a kitchen scale and soon realised why I wasn't losing like I should have been.

Hey feel free to add me! I'm currently 16 weeks pregnant and trying not to gain too much exessive weight. I was advised to eat at maintenance until 3rd trimester when I will need an extra 300 cals a day. I've gained about 5lbs so far. My own fault though as I have not been logging and eating quite a lot of junk /…

I think your moderation rather than cold turkey plan sounds much more manageable and something that you can stick with. If you fall off the wagon and over eat or have 8 pints then don't freak out and let it turn in to a weekend off or a week off as that can easily become to much of a habit. Just draw a line under the day /…

I do this when I really fancy chinese take away but don't have enough calories spare for one. Chicken pieces 2 tbls of honey 2 tbls of light soya sauce 1 tbls balsamic vinegar. Fry in a little oil (or fry light) the chicken until cooked through and add all the other ingredients. Keep stirring until the sauce goes all thick…

You have not gained 1lb of fat if you only ate 1300 calories yesterday. Lots of things can cause weight fluctuations of up to 5lb or even more! Give it a week without getting on the scales and weigh yourself first thing in the morning after you have been to the toilet.

Nah seriously, just someone who likes the show is a Doctor Who fan. There are different levels but if you enjoy the show then surely you are a fan?

When they have their favourite doctor as their avatar and chose a stupid Doctor Who related username on MFP?????

Thanks for your reply! I'll check out the Pilates video on youtube :)

Thank you both! Helen that is pretty much the guide my midwife gave, she said avoid exercise like planks and crunches where you work the abdominals directly but any others that work the stomach indirectly are fine. She said as long as I felt fine during exercise I should be ok (and to drink lots of water). I'll be having a…

This sounds awful, I don't think it is legally available in the UK.

I'm in the UK, and ok.... they are a ready micro meal so they aren't going to be brilliant. They will contain more sodium than if you made yourself the same meal from scratch. However, I do have them now and again. I particularly like the chicken hotpot. It's around 260 cals and if I remember rightly has about 20g of…

The best advise I can give is log log log.....everything! I still struggle very much not to binge now and again but actually logging everything even if I do can help. Sometimes I get in the mindset of "oh I have blown it" so a take away and ice cream will turn in to 3-4 days of overeating on junk. Where if I'd logged it…
-
And while I know 400-500 cals for breakfast isn't too bad....that was for cereal! If I'd have known I was eating that many calories I would have at least had egg and bacon and felt full lol.
-
For me it was weighing things and logging as accurately as possible. I was WAY underestimating how much I was eating. I would have cereal on a morning and think "this is only 200cals with milk" and think that was good. But when I actually weighed them, I was having like 85g rather than the 35 or 40g recommendation!

I don't like most salad items and am pretty limited on what veggies I like. I do like stir frys (having one tonight) so I throw in lots of shredded cabbage, peppers, onions, corn, and some bean sprouts and that is just yummy. I can eat pretty much any veggie if I have it in a soup so some nights I will happily have a…
