Homemade protein bars?
So I like the idea of protein bars but they seem so expensive! Looking online even cheap ones seem to work out around £1 each. I am thinking that I could have one on an afternoon to replace my chocolate fix and the protein would be beneficial for me. Anyone have any good recipes for making your own? I don't mind coughing…

Losing weight during pregnancy, how many calories?
I'm currently 17 weeks pregnant and I saw my midwife on Friday. We were talking about weight and she said that she would be perfectly happy for me to cotinue to lose some weight while pregnant. I have a good 50lb + to lose and she said that if you start out obese it is still safe to slowly lose some weight while pregnant…

Starting an exercise routine during pregnancy?
I'm currently 14 weeks pregnant and am only just starting to feel human again!! Prior to getting pregnant I was doing ok, I was mostly using the gym for workouts. I'd have a warm up on the treadmill and then do a bit of a circuit routine, doing weighted squats, lunges, some kettlebell work, box jumps etc. Then around 15…

New to the group - surrogate mum!
Hi All, I'm new to this group and would love to be able to add some pregnant friends for this journey :) Currently 6 weeks pregnant. I'm a surrogate (straight traditional, not host) for my sister and brother in law, who because of various health and fertility problems are unable to have children themselves. Please feel…

Any pregnant ladies out there??
I wouldlove some other pregnant friends to track with and see how everyone is doing. Currently just 6 weeks pregnant. I'm surrogate for my sister and brother in law who are unable to have their own children. Feeling very sicky and tired at the moment, I forgot how rough early pregnancy can be!!

Sods Law!!!!
Yesterdays gym session and I do a nice warm up on the treadmill, followed by a workout including squats, lunges, deadlifts, over head press, bench press and a few planks for good measure. And I go and pull something in my shoulder doing cool down stretches at the end. Blooming sods law.... grrrrrrrrr!!!

A sweaty hot mess.... but proud.
Ok so I still have about another 40-50lbs to go but I wanted to share this photo. I have always been so out of shape, would join a gym, walk on the treadmill a few times, go swimming a few times and then cancel my membership. When I finally got my head in the right place for losing weight I stayed out of the gym and would…

How many eggs?
So I recently started Keto, I'm insulin resistant and hoping it would be a good plan to help with that. But my question is, how many eggs a day it too many? I love eggs and could seriously eat them at every meal in some form. I know eggs have had a bad rep in the past but I believe that has been proven to be inaccurate…

Working out with lower carbs?
I’m insulin resistant and trying (not always successful!) to keep my carbs low and my protein / fats higher to help with weight loss. I’ve joined a gym and have a personal trainer who works me much harder than I did on my own. I love this, we’ve incorporated lifting in to my routine and are going to start adding some HIIT.…

Lifting......ouch!!
So I figured for a fattie I was in ok shape. I weigh around 210lb but I can run 5k, have no problem completing an exercise DVD such as 30 day shred, walk for miles and miles every week. I also do my own bodyweight / kettlebell routine at home. But I decided I wanted to get in to lifting so joined a gym and got a personal…

If you train fasted...when do you need food?
So I know lots of people work out early morning in a pretty much fasted state. And on a weekend I do this too, I would go out for a jog or do my kettlebell workout first thing before eating. And then I would eat breakfast afterwards. But during the week I have been following the 16 / 8 intermittent fasting plan and I am…

Home gym feedback?
I'm looking for a home gym to add some extra weight training in to my exercise plan. Have been looking at this http://www.benysports.co.uk/v-fit-stg09-3-herculean-modular-compact-python-gym-140-p.asp Any feedback at all? I'm pretty new to strengths training and weights. Currently just using kettlebells and body weight…

Cuddling when sleeping....
Surely I cannot be the only one who cannot do the whole cudding to sleep thing? I really do LOVE a good cuddle / snuggle when in bed with my hubby, but I just cannot fall asleep like that. My hubby always says to me "I would love you to fall asleep in my arms, snuggled against my chest" but I just can't. I can't even have…

Exercise every day?
Is it ok to exercise every day or is it too much. For info, I am trying to lose weight. Current weight 210lbs and 5ft 3in. Generally speaking I aim for 1200 plus pretty much all my exercise calories (I realise MFP overestimates at times but figure since my base is only 1200 I should still be ok). Current routine is: M / W…

Insulin Resistance anyone?
I have PCOS and insulin resistance and really struggle to lose weight. I'm slowly slowly getting there but would love to have some more people in the same situation on my friends list to chat with and follow their progress and also get more of an idea of the things that they eat and how they effect their weight loss.…

High protein breakfast ideas (under 350 cals)
What are your favourite breakfast recipies that are high in protein but pretty low in calories? Just because of how I like to use my calories through the day, I tend to try and stick to around 350 cals at breakfasts. I sometimes have cheesy scrambled egg or a veggie fritatta but getting a bit bored. Would love some new…

Anyone in to crafts?
I love making craft things and thought it would be nice to show each other what we are currently working on. I love looking at the things other people create! These are what I have done this morning. Some tooth fairy door hangers. They have a little pocket on the back for you to put the tooth in.... it makes it easier for…

Babysitting age?
What do you think an appropriate age for a babysitter is? Me and my hubby would love to go for a jog together. I think it would help both of us as we would encourage each other and push each other to go a bit further, bit faster etc. We have two boys aged 8 and 5. They go to bed at 7pm and normally watch a DVD until 8pm…

Smoothy receipes?
So my hubby has bought me a nutribullet for my birthday and is going to give me it as soon as it arrives rather than waiting until my actual birthday lol. Just wondered if anyone had any good recipes? I'm pretty good at getting plenty of fruit in my diet but only really eat limited veg. I don't really like greens, so I am…

About 60lb gone....about 30lb to go....
Just did this little comparison picture this morning to give myself a kick up the backside as have been slacking a little lately! This weight loss has taken a LONG time, I have definitely taken the scenic route! But I am getting closer to goal and will never give up, Just thought I would share as I love looking at people's…

Hula Hooping
Has anyone tried this (as an adult lol). I've a few friends that actually go to classes and say it's really good fun and gives them a good workout. I'm thinking it might not be majorly effective, but if it's fun and burns calories I might give it a go. Don't think the weighted hoops are overly expensive and might be fun to…

Share you latest tattoo's!

strength training make you hungry?
Anyone else get really hungry the day after strength / resistance training? I work out at home so am just doing body weight and kettlebell workouts. I do my workout before dinner, so after I still eat plenty. Last night I had my dinner and a snack, I think a good 500-600 calories. It’s 9.40am here and I have eaten…

Some photos from Iceland
Mostly so my friends list can see them but just in case anyone else is interested too. It was AMAZING!! Had a wonderful time and we got to see the Northern Lights too. Although didn't get photos as my camera wasn't very good at night shots and I didn't have a tripod.

Half way there.....

Very low calorie diet mess up metabolism?
So I hear all the time that a very low calorie diet will mess up metabolism, but how bad will it be? My doctor has put me on a very low calorie diet, between 600 - 800 calories a day. Pretty extreme I guess but it's for a medical procedure that I need to have done beginning of March so I am willing to do it for a couple of…

Meal timing and content when running
I’ve tried a couple of times before to run and normally get half way in to C25K before giving in. I think a lot of it is that I probably aren’t giving myself the correct nutrition and with my jobs and kids find it hard to fit it in right. I’ve tried running in the evening when the kids are in bed but it’s only an hour or…

Runtastic - Accurate calorie burn?
Does anyone else use runtastic and if so, how accurate do you find the calorie burn? I used it for my lunch time walk and it told me 117 calories for 1.2 miles (totally flat) so I thought that seemed about right. I just took my youngest and the dog for a walk in the woods, it was slow going, we did 2.5 miles in 1 hour and…

50lb down progress pics
Well I still have around another 30lbs to go but I thought I would share some photos so far. I went to a Faerie Ball in Glastonbury at the weekend and my hubby took some pics of us dressed up. When I put the photo on my Facebook profile I got so many comments about how much weight I had lost that I decided to compare to my…
