Homemade protein bars?

So I like the idea of protein bars but they seem so expensive! Looking online even cheap ones seem to work out around £1 each. I am thinking that I could have one on an afternoon to replace my chocolate fix and the protein would be beneficial for me.

Anyone have any good recipes for making your own? I don't mind coughing up for some Whey protein if it's worth it :)

I've messed about with making my own protein bars in the past - They were, without exception terrible* but chocolate whey powder stirred into greek yogurt and sprinkled with a topping (raspberries, white chocolate buttons, dark chocolate chunks etc) works for me.

*Should point out that I've also bought a few protein bars and thought they were a poor - but not as bad as my homemade stuff so it may just be that I don't like the taste of protein bars.

Actually I quite like the idea of adding whey to greek yoghurt with toppings! Thanks for throwing that out there :)

not a protein bar but if you like chocolate and want more protein then try the beltsander brownie a a dessert (not a work type snack)

    the version I make https://traineatgain.com/beltsander-brownie-the-easiest-protein-brownie-recipe-version-2/?utm_expid=75500127-9.DHvI_cUdTYWT7kfs9HCjYw.2&utm_referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fgoogle.com%2F

I've tried 100 different ways. Some were okay. Ended up being more trouble than it's worth and not worth the tiny bit of savings really.

That brownie looks awesome! We have a microwave here so I could totally make that!

Thanks Hornsby for your reply. Seems to be that I will have to look at other ways to fix my sweet tooth and get a protein hit in the afternoons, hopefully the brownie / greek yoghurt ideas will work out :)

I love these! http://thebigmansworld.com/2016/01/27/healthy-3-ingredient-no-bake-paleo-protein -bars/ They are yummy! They can be sticky so I recommend keeping them refrigerated until you eat them and keeping a glass of water handy. For me those inconveniences are worth the price point. The basic receipe is 3 ingredieents, but if you put any "flavor" you'll add more. I did PB and mini chocolate chips. 168 calories, ~12 grams of protein, and ~8 grams of fat, and ~12 grams of carbs. Next time I'm going try PB2 (powdered pb) to see how that works. I also think pecans or walnuts could be tasty. Ooo or dried cherries/blueberries. Really, it could be anything.
