  • Made these this morning. They were great. I used only 1 tsp of baking powder and I substituted coconut oil (melted) for olive oil as well as rapadura for sugar. Big hit! Keep me on the list for more recipes. We should start a thread sharing recipes - or, maybe it is already being done! Donna
  • Stephanie, Congrats of the weight loss and your wonderful family and good luck to you on your journey - you and I are aiming for the same weight goals. I started at around 205 - now, 194. Heading for 125-130. FYI - the July 21st goal of 40 pounds lost might be tough. Approximately 10 pounds a month is difficult and…
  • I track potassium as well since I am on a "Water pill" for mild blood pressure. I try to have one high potassium item every meal! Here is something I do for some breakfasts as well as after-workout pick-me-up! 911 mg of potassium per serving! It is in the food drop-down menu as High Potassium Smoothie (correction). Donna *…
  • Anything by Cathe Friedrich - also, if you are just getting started - you can look at Leslie Sansone Walk at Home Program. Donna
  • Yes - this is true; but, I can tell you from experience - it can be frustrating! That is why I use a variety of measurements to keep me motivated. I use weight, inches from head to toe, amount of minutes exercising, clothes sizes, blood pressure, amount and type of sleep, etc. To give you my example - I started November…
  • Jessica, Congrats on the weight loss... Make sure to search the forums on this topic - there has been some talk about this before. I do not trust those electronic scales for BF%. I have been using Covert Bailey's formula for a year now and have been tested in the gym - both have been very close. Here is the website for his…
  • MFP lets you track multiple things - please check your sodium and potassium levels. These work together to retain and release water. From my understanding - you need 1600-2500 mg of sodium and 2500-4700 mg of potassium. You can google for more information.
  • I am watching sodium as well - you also may want to look at your potassium (MFP does track it). Sodium and potassium are related. Potassium is necessary for water balance and is found inside of every cell in your body. The potassium inside the cells balances the sodium outside the cells to maintain pressure and water…
  • I agree with the post prior as well - not sure how much it effects long-term weight loss. My concern has always been long-term health. Processed foods are TERRIBLE for hidden sodium. Overloading on sodium can also affect your ability to have effective exercise. Here is a link to Mayo Clinic for an overview.…
  • Hey! I went through October - December with not 1 pound of loss. A fingernail of perseverance was all I had left for me! One thing that helped jump start me was a "Change of Pace!" For you - it could be a weekend away, new workout, new clothes, take a break, etc. You will know what is right for you! Think about it!…
  • Have a look at www.ttapp.com - great group of people. Call them and see what DVD may be of help to you. I have used their Basic Workout + for a long time. When I first started with them - I lost 36" - They have a program for people who need help with pain. I think it is called "MORE" - not sure. Also - look at…

  • Try "shaking up" your meals with some diversity. I read somewhere that your body can get used to the types of food eaten. Change up your meals. Also - check your levels of sodium, vitamins, etc. at the end of the day. There may be something there as well.
  • From what I have read - 22% BF is great for women. But, it will fluctuate woman to woman. I think for men - it is 12%. I read several books by Covert Bailey where he explains all of that very well. Look for his books on bargain websites. Fit or Fat is one - Smart Exercise is another...
  • Shel, It looks like we are headed for the same goals - so, this should be fun! I am sorry for your tough times with the divorce and all. What a blessing to have your kids. Had a great day - even enjoyed a "forbidden" snack because I could :-) Worked out about 90 minutes on circuit/cardio training, abs, and yoga. Trying to…
  • I am ready for some company. Count me in. I wanted to wait and join a group until after I knew I was serious about my health. I have been working on myself since September 2009. And, things are going great. Look forward to seeing how this group works out. My exercise routine is 6 days a week, 60-90 minutes a day - 2 days…
  • Mastercook Software - so, I can have my own recipe for later on - great nutritional analysis - google for a good price
  • I work out from 60-90 minutes a day - 6 days a week. Cardio, abs, and stretching everyday; 2 days of weights; 2 days of circuit training. My cardio consists of elliptical, step aerobics, and martial arts/kickboxing. Donna
  • I agree! Although my goals include a weight range - I would be far more happy with inch loss, increased strength, to get off BP medicine, run a race, wear nice clothes - Thanks for the advice! Donna
  • I make this bread from scratch - my family loves it. It is the most requested bread for us! Donna
  • Hi! I sat down one weekend and wrote out alot of different measurements that I thought were "Critical Success Factors" for me. Now - if I have a week where pounds are slow coming off - there are alot of other ways to see how I am doing. I created an Excel Spreadsheet for my measurements and I measure every Saturday for 6…
  • If you are willing and you are one to make alot of homemade meals - I would purchase "Mastercook." Then, log in your recipe into Mastercook (Takes just a couple of minutes) - click on the "heart" to the right of your recipe and up pops the entire nutritional analysis. It is worth it! I just print out the analysis and…
  • I am a BIG fan of coconut oil - I don't use vegetable/canola anymore. I use really good olive oil (Columela) for salad dressings. I use palm shortening for baking. Google the health benefits of coconut oil and palm shortening. Also, look at "Tropical Traditions" website for great sales and great insight. Blessings, Donna

  • Thanks everyone! I did the step for 28 minutes for some cardio and warm-up; then, went into Pyramid Lower Body for 35 minutes - it went just fine. Just need to trust my instincts - thanks again!
  • Another point I would like to mention - Please make sure to have other measurements than just weight. There will be weeks that I do not lose an ounce - but, I drop inches. Or, I lose only 1 pound - but, I finally tackle that step program and enjoy it. Make a list of critical success measurements like: weight, inches lost…
  • I am doing Cathe DVDs mixed with yoga, stretches, and abs. 6 Days a week for 60-90 minutes (3 days step, 2 days weights, 1 day jog or martial arts, 2 days circuit) is my formula. I try to eat all my calories given to me in MyFitnessPal and only every so often eat far into the exercise calories. If I do, I eat protein.…
  • I will be glad to post recipes - just check my blog next weekend and see what I may have. Would love your ideas as well - I have trouble with ideas for quick fast meals - I homeschool my kids and have to think quick for lunches...so, any ideas would be appreciated. Blessings, Donna
  • Here you go...I apologize for the simplicity... Organic chicken or chicken carcass (raw - not rotisserie) Water to cover the chicken (About 16 cups or so) Celery (cut in half about 2-4 stalks) Carrots (cut in half peeled - if you want to - about 4) Onion (quartered peeled - if you want to) Turnip (quarter peeled) Salt (1…
  • I agree - I had made "Red Beans and Rice" last night - a healthy version with my own chicken broth. But, when I tallied the calories and nutritional analysis in "Mastercook" - it stated that per serving the sodium content was 2300 mg of sodium. Good Gracious! But, I found the flaw - Mastercook was assuming that I bought…
  • Also, please be careful going under 1200 calories per day. I know there are others that can explain this better who visit this forum. But, from Weight Watchers - 1200 calories was the bottom.
  • Thank you - blessings! Donna
